Itinerary

  • Day 1: Welcome to Sydney, Australia! Here is where your Australian adventure begins. Once arrived at your hotel you will have the free time to explore the sites of Sydney. It’s safe to say some planning is required for a visit to a city this impressive, because no matter what you fancy – shopping, the arts, the outdoors – you’re likely to be bewildered by the scope of choice available here. First up, there are the must-sees – Sydney Opera House; Harbour Bridge; the Sydney Tower for its 360-degree views of the city; the waterside hubs of Darling Harbour and Circular Quay; and the Rocks district for shopping. After dark, the glitzy city comes alive with a ‘larger-than-life’ food and music scene that extends into the early hours. For more laid-back diversions, head down to the beach or hop on a ferry for an extensive tour of the Sydney Harbour, the Parramatta River and numerous locations lying waterside.
  • Day 2: Today you will collect your hire car and drive north of Sydney to the Hunter Valley Wine Region. Hunter Valley is one of Australia's major Wine regions in New South Wales. You will be greeted on arrival at the Chateau Elan Hunter Valley where you can settle in and start explore the beautiful Hunter Valley region. Whether you are seeking unforgettable wine, sumptuous cuisine, luxurious accommodation or breath-taking scenery, the picturesque Hunter Valley has it all. As Australia’s most visited wine region, Hunter Valley boasts an impressive 150 world-class wineries, beautiful vineyards and cellar doors as well as a slew of tempting restaurants and eateries. Spend your days hopping from one exquisite wine farm to the next, enjoying some pampering at one of the region’s wonderful day spas, or teeing off from one of the area’s numerous championship golf courses. Hunter Valley is the ultimate destination for some relaxed self indulgence. Car hire included
  • Day 3: Enjoy a day at leisure in the Hunter Valley visiting the Vineyards and trying a selection of wines or book yourself onto some ultimate wine tasting experiences, helicopter flights, horse riding or sensational lunches. Only room inlcuded
  • Day 4: Today you will drive back to Sydney where you will return your car and get settled back into your hotel. Head out and explore what Sydney has to offer. Only room inlcuded
  • Day 5: Today you will leave Sydney and head to Melbourne. Once arrived at your hotel take the afternoon to relax or head out and  explore the city, try some local restaurants and  see what Melbourne has to offer. Melbourne is a modern metropolis located on the banks of the Yarra River and known for its many gardens, parks and open spaces, which together occupy almost one third of the city. The town is also becoming an increasingly popular culinary destination, with the Southbank and Arts Centre buzzing with restaurants, bars and live entertainment. “Doing the block” is a well-known phrase for an exploration of the hidden lanes and alleyways around Bourke, Collins and Flinders streets, while Queen Victoria Market is a popular shopping  spot that has been selling clothing, art, toys, crafts and vegetables for over a century. Transfer and accomodation included
  • Day 6: Today you will have the option to have a free day or I can help you to arrange a tour down the Great Ocean Road. Winding along the wilderness of the Southern Ocean coast, the Great Ocean Road is considered one of the most scenic drives in the world. From the craggy spires of the Twelve Apostles mountain range to the awe-inspiring waves of Bells Beach, this spectacular coastal thoroughfare takes in everything from whale-spotting lookouts to historic ports, gushing waterfalls and lush rainforests. The stretch between Melbourne and Adelaide is a popular road trip, and can comfortably be done in five days. Only room included
  • Day 7: The Yarra Valley is Victoria's first wine district with a history or around 180 years. Whilst enjoy the beautiful wine tastings and food of the Yarra Valley you can also enjoy the beautiful scenery from above in a hot air balloon flight.
  • Day 8: You can choose to have a free day today to unwind or why not do a Melbourne sites tour?Only room included
  • Day 9: By Staying at the hotel, this is the ultimate way to experience the Barossa. Your chauffeured car service will meet you at Adelaide airport and transfer you to your room. Tour Barossa wineries with a local guide in the afternoon, then feast on a four course dinner with wine pairing in award-winning Appellation restaurant on arrival evening. Next morning, you will enjoy breakfast, then visit nearby Jam Factory contemporary art and crafts centre, taste your birth year tawny port at Seppeltsfield Winery and relax over a long lunch at Fino restaurant. Later that day, enjoy the view over the valley while enjoying bar snacks and drinks in the Appellation sunset terrace bar and lounge. Enjoy a door to door chauffeur driven experience in a luxe Land Rover Defender with Two Hands Wines. You’ll get off-road and tour their private vineyard estates and taste the wine from the vineyard you’re standing in. All followed by a tasting of their Flagship Series accompanied by a generous wood-fired pizza lunch.
  • Day 10: Today you will enjoy breakfast, then a visit nearby JamFactory contemporary art and crafts centre, taste your birth year tawny port at Seppeltsfield Winery and relax over a long lunch at Fino restaurant. • Day 12: Today you will be transferred to the hotel where you will have the day free to enjoy the sites of Adelaide at leisure. Once known as the ‘City of Churches’, Adelaide is today better recognised for its sophistication, charm and cosmopolitan feel. South Australia’s capital is a hub of festivals and art galleries; it enjoys a vibrant nightlife and live-music scene; plus, there’s plenty of shopping (including gorgeous opals) to be done, and gastronomic delights to be enjoyed. Pop into the Art Gallery of South Australia to view indigenous art, or the South Australian Museum devoted to natural history; take an amble in the Adelaide Botanic Garden; or if you’re up for a hike, find out about the trails on the Mount Lofty Ranges. Transfer included
  • Day 13: You will be transferred to the airport to meet with your departure flight. I hope you have enjoyed your holiday and return to explore the rest of Australia’s natural beauty.

Terrible, the guide ruined our trip

Our guide tried to skip almost all of the things on our itinerary and we had to fight with him to get him to do half of the things we paid for! He hated his job, didn't do any of the guide portion and really ruined our trip to Sri Lanka. Overall, this company was terrible to deal with and didn't care about what their guide did! We didn't get what we paid for at all. Stay away from them!

Unclear value proposition

As a number of reviewers have noted, booking a trip through Evanoes is more expensive than booking it yourself. I justified this premium based on the fact that they provide a service - Evanoes, through their partner agent, will create a tailor-made holiday for me, so I didn't have to spend the time doing the research.

Unfortunately, this is not the case. I just completed a two week trip to the Philippines. While it was well organized, almost all the hotels that I was booked into (and hotels is of course where the majority of a holiday spend tends to go to) were exactly the opposite of the brief I had provided. In fact, one was so different to what I had requested (not to mention more expensive) that I checked out within two hours of arriving, to a cheaper, better located hotel that met my requirements at an additional cost. When I contacted both the agent and Evanoes about this, they noted that it was my responsibility to check their recommendations. If this is the case, and customers are responsible for doing all the research to ensure that the local agents recommendations meet their requirements, I'm really not sure what the point of paying Evanoes and their local agent is. I could have just done all the bookings myself, paying much less!
