Itinerary

Day 1: London Tilbury

Tilbury is a town located in the borough of Thurrock, Essex. It is of relatively recent existence, although it has important historical connections, as the location of a 16th century fort and an ancient cross-river ferry; and more recently as being a modern deep-water port.

Day 2: Invergordon, Scotland

Invergordon - located at the head of a beautiful firth in the stunning Scottish Highlands - boasts stunning scenic beauty and epic landscapes to explore, and serves as a gateway to the mystical waters of Loch Ness - home of the legendary Loch Ness Monster.

Day 3: Edinburgh (Rosyth)

Edinburgh - Scotland's historic capital - is one of the U.K.'s finest cities. Combining beautiful architecture, engrossing cultures and an extensive heritage, this Scottish delight is a must-visit destination.

Day 4: Dundee, Scotland

Dundee has rich and varied heritage that includes children's comics, marmalade, jute and polar exploration.

Day 5: London Tilbury

Tilbury is a town located in the borough of Thurrock, Essex. It is of relatively recent existence, although it has important historical connections, as the location of a 16th century fort and an ancient cross-river ferry; and more recently as being a modern deep-water port.

Tilbury Fort on the Thames estuary has protected London from seaward advances since the 16th century, and up to the Second World War. The first fort was built by Henry VIII, and Queen Elizabeth I also famously rallied her army to face the threat of the Armada from here. With its circuit of moats, the present fort is the best example of its type in England.

With good road and rail links to the city of London, London Tilbury is the ideal port from which to join your cruise ship.

Love Fred cruises....they just go the extra mile...we had a golden wedding anniversary in August and they made it wonderful with flowers/champagne/professional photo plus frame....anniversary cake at dinner plus singers and at no cost to us. A few years ago we sailed with fred from Singapore to Southampton...it was fantastic...admirable service...what impressed me most was the captain...moving around the ship everyday talking to passengers...joining in the fun even to the extent of taking a dip in his full uniform and most of the Captains do interact with passengers....being smaller ships you make friends so easily. If there was one bad point it is the cost of excursions....bit of a con..very overpriced and taking advantage of older folk with walking difficulties. but the rest...love it...keep up the good work fred and we will be back...time and again

Amazing cruise. We were on Balmoral to Norway. Service for drinks slow but apart from that, everything was brilliant. Special thanks to dancer Nigel who is so professional, patient and kind and also to Krishna in bar. Norway is an amazing country

I tried a Fred Olson cruise a few weeks ago which left from Rosyth, only 40 minutes from Dundee. I must admit I had my reservations as I had tried most of the large lines before and a couple of the smaller ones . The smaller ones did not give me a good experience. However I decided to try the Bremar sailing to the Norwegian fiords. I was indeed very pleasantly surprised . I can only term the experience as a mini Princes plus experience. Staff wonderful, ship pristine, itinerary wonderful with very interesting forys up some off the more inaccessible (to larger ships), fiords.
There was a couple of small niggles such as having to pay and additional £2 per day if you want the choice of dining time and a very difficult to navigate web site to get the best possible single price . However, overall a really satisfying experience and I would certainly use them again.

My first ever cruise ,aged 10 was on the Black Watch ,sailing out of Tilbury docks in the Easter holidays 1968. Funchal , Madeira, & several Canaries islands left lifelong memories. The cold buffet was extra special,& several coca colas were consumed. Happy days.

As a first time cruiser and with a teenager and 8 year old in tow we boarded the Balmoral for the Diamond and chocolate cruise with trepidation. We had read it was older traveller centred and some of the activities were more mature. However we were assured when booking that this cruise was more family oriented. The wee one loved it especially the show company! I think Julian has a fan for life. All the crew feted her and the ports were stunning. If I had any gripes it would be that free WiFi especially for the teenagers is a must have especially nowadays and also after asking about kids club specifically none was run. I am sure that a mock tail master class, a pool party just for the younger ones or a film or even teach them a dance to perform in the evening would be reasonably cheap and easy to organise. However this did not detract from the relaxed travelling, the sumptuous dinners without a chicken nugget or fish finger in sight, usually great entertainment and a comfy bed at the end of night. I would certainly do it again.

Absolutely brilliant, just come back from 22 night cruise, staff were fantastic, had a minor problem with our cabin, they couldn’t have been more accommodating, and even gave us an on board spend. Been with P & O before who were rubbish, Fred all the time for us, they are fantastic . Can’t wait to be be back on board in August, and 2 booked for next year.

Ship Description

Black Watch is sleek, intimate and harks back to the days when cruise ships were revered for their style and charm. Focusing on providing a traditional cruise experience rather than gimmicks such as climbing walls and on board bumper cars, Black Watch feels friendly and familiar. This is further enhanced by the attentive staff who strive to offer service with a smile and remember the important things, such as your name and favourite tipple and how your like your eggs cooked at breakfast.

Able to accommodate up to 804 guests, there are a selection of suites and ocean view rooms to choose from, providing ample room and everything you need for a comfortable enjoyable and stress-free stay; and spacious public rooms bathed in natural light and retaining the elegant style of a traditional cruise ship. Black Watch has four restaurants options, including the stylish Glentanar Restaurant and beautiful Orchid Room which has a wonderful oriental look and feel. Before dinner you could delve into a good book in the well-stocked library, relax in the warmth on the Sun Deck, sample a great selection of premium gin at the Marquee Bar, or even devour a premium afternoon tea. Don’t miss the extravaganza of music, dance and comedy at evening shows in the Neptune Lounge.

Black Watch sails from ports all around the UK, and thanks to her new Terrace Balcony Rooms, offers plenty of opportunities to enjoy unforgettable sights and experiences as you cruise the world’s most spectacular waterways to a string of stunning destinations.
