Highlights
  • Look for komodo dragons in the wild
  • Meet the friendly people of ngada village
  • Stare into the multi-coloured craters of kelimutu
  • Soak in the beautiful scenery of flores

Let’s get it out of the way first: There’s no place like this place, anyplace. Komodo is obviously well-known for its dragons (gigantic lizards, really, but who’s nit-picking?), but there’s so much more to the island — plus nearby Flores and Rinca — than just massive fauna. You’ll spend much of this nine-day trip on Flores, soaking in the beautiful scenery (including Mt Kelimutu, a volcanic crater full of vibrantly coloured water) and traditional ways of life amongst the local people. On a boat trip to Komodo and Rinca, look out for Komodo dragons and spot even more of the native wildlife. Ready to get to know the wild side of Indonesia?

Best of Komodo and Flores was not a disappointment. You experience the local communities but also the beauty of the country. And who doesn't want to see a komodo dragon in its natural environment?! If I had 5 thumbs, I'd give this trip 5 thumbs up!

The professional organization and the careful selection of destinations/travel routes. On the Flores trip we felt perfectly cared for throughout and we had the impression of being around in a part of the world that we would most likely not be able to explore on our own. Also, the style the tour was, in our opinion, the optimal mix between organized group travelling and individual freedom. May 2015

We did not realize beforehand that we were visiting a comparatively rural part of Indonesia, and now are especially greatful for having had the opportunity to visit Flores. Our overall travel itinerary made us experience also the more developed parts of the area (Bali), which of course are far less interesting in comparison. We now came back from this tour with the feeling of having seen a part of the world (and the people there) in a still close-to-natural state (without the typical touristic environment), which for us was the most important aspect retrospectively to make this a really unique experience. We hope that the tour will be part of the G-advanture travel portfolio in the future!

Exceptional interesting and fantastic trip. We really obtained some insights in the daily life and habits of a non-touristic part of Indonesia. Thank you so much for this great experience!!

Age Notes

Min. Age: You must be 18 to travel unaccompanied on a G Adventures tour. For minors travelling with a guardian over 21 years old, the minimum age is 12.

Physical Requirements Our small group adventures bring together people of all ages. It is very important you are aware that an average level of fitness and mobility is required to undertake our easiest programs. Travellers must be able to walk without the aid of another person, climb 3-4 flights of stairs, step on and off small boats, and carry their own luggage at a minimum. Travellers with a pre-existing medical condition are required to complete a short medical questionnaire, which must be signed by their physician. This is to ensure that travellers have the necessary fitness and mobility to comfortably complete their chosen trip. While our leaders work hard to ensure that all our travellers are catered for equally, it is not their responsibility to help individuals who cannot complete the day's activities unaided. Please refer to the physical ratings in this Trip Details document for more information. Please note that all passengers traveling to Antarctica are required to fill out this questionnaire. The medical questionnaire can be found online at www.gadventures.com/medical-form.
Rules & Other Requirements Illegal drugs will not be tolerated on any trips. Possessing or using drugs not only contravenes the laws of the land but also puts the rest of the group at risk. Smoking marijuana and opium is a part of local culture in some parts of the world but is not acceptable for our travellers. Our philosophy of travel is one of respect towards everyone we encounter, and in particular the local people who make the world the special place it is. The exploitation of prostitutes is completely contrary to this philosophy. Our group leader has the right to expel any member of the group if drugs are found in their possession or if they use prostitutes.
