  • Savour under-the-radar delicious food and wine in georgia

Short Description

Georgia and Armenia may sound like unconventional destinations, but trust us, they ought to top your list of places to visit. Our eight-day trip is a wonderful showcase of the cultural and natural highlights the Caucasus Region has to offer, with a huge helping of beautiful architecture and delicious cuisine to boot. Stroll the narrow streets of Tbilisi, tour ancient monasteries, stare down massive mountain ranges, visit with friendly locals, and soak up all the exotic culture of this underexplored region.

Small groups are usually defined as between 10 and 24 travelers, often less. If you're the kind of person who enjoys more intimate experiences and personal service this is a good choice. All else being equal you will pay a premium for this style vs a larger group tour.

Armenia and Georgia comprise a fascinating part of the world that still lies off the beaten track. And it feels that way. Many of us on the trip knew little about the Caucasus before we left for that part of the world, and we all learned so much: about the birth of Christianity, about monastic architecture, about battles for territory and how those battles created intriguing mixtures of cultures, about life under the Soviet regime . . . And all in 9 or so days. We saw such beautiful countryside and ate such delicious food-and had such a range of experiences: cultural, culinary, artistic, urban, active, religious . . . (The only really odd thing is that Georgia at no point felt full of the advertised "hospitality." The Georgian people seemed cold and unapproachable. Perhaps it's misleading to advertise the trip as offering that hospitality firsthand.)

Armenia and Georgia were very interesting countries to visit. Being with a small group was great as we all got to know each other well, and we all looked out for each other.

Group Size:

Small Group - 24 max

Max 16, avg 12.

Solo Notes

We believe solo travellers should not have to pay more to travel so our group trips are designed for shared accommodation and do not involve a single supplement. Single travellers joining group trips are paired in twin or multi-share accommodation with someone of the same sex for the duration of the trip. Some of our Independent trips are designed differently and solo travellers on these itineraries must pay the single trip price.

Accomodations

Standard hotels (7 nts).

Guides

Chief Experience Officer (CEO) throughout, local guides.

Age Notes

Min. Age: You must be 18 to travel unaccompanied on a G Adventures tour. For minors travelling with a guardian over 21 years old, the minimum age is 12.

Rules & Other Requirements

Illegal drugs will not be tolerated on any trips. Possessing or using drugs not only contravenes the laws of the land but also puts the rest of the group at risk. Smoking marijuana and opium is a part of local culture in some parts of the world but is not acceptable for our travellers. Our philosophy of travel is one of respect towards everyone we encounter, and in particular the local people who make the world the special place it is. The exploitation of people in the sex trade is completely contrary to this philosophy. Our CEOs have the right to expel any member of the group if drugs are found in their possession or if they engage in any form of paid sex work.
