  • Kick back on costa rica's pristine beaches
  • Visit a local family to learn to make tortillas
  • Spot nature in a dense cloud forest
  • Enjoy the natural beauty of manuel antonio national park
  • Kayak and paddle-board in la fortuna

Nothing brings learning to life like real-world experience. This week-long trip’s engaging lesson plan gives kids an education in biology and ecology that can never be found in a textbook. Here, spend the days (and nights!) studying the flora and fauna that inhabit the cloud forest and Manuel Antonio National Park. Elsewhere, get in touch with the land by rappelling, rafting, swimming, horseback-riding, and even surfing all over it. Science + gym? You do the math.

Costa Rica Family Experience

I chose G Adventures because I wanted to be able to provide my family with an exciting and culturally interesting vacation, and I wanted to relax and have someone else deal with the planning and logistics. I was anxious about spending the money online until we arrived at the airport in San Jose, and were greeted by G Adventures and courteously and efficiently packed off to the hotel. Every thing from there was taken care of, and we had the just the vacation I had hoped for. Juan Pablo Ortiz was phenomenal. April 2015

If I were to plan vacation in Costa Rica for my family I would include everything that G Adventures did. Having G Adventure do it took all the stress out of it and let me relax and be on vacation along with my family. Juan Pablo Ortiz was a phenomenal guide: enthusiastic, organized, with a complete knowledge of the local, there when you needed him, anticipated our needs, honorable, personable. He managed the logistics, activities and lodgings and always put us first and first in line. We always felt safe, and in good hands on our trip.

Great time and surprisingly smooth considering the logistics of getting 5 families with children organized and moving at often early hours.

It's basically what we expected but it exceed those expectations. We liked the relatively small group, that Riccardo did a great job of getting us various places but that we has the opportunity to choose what activities we agreed in. December 2014

Solo Notes

We believe single travellers should not have to pay more to travel so our group trips are designed for shared accommodation and do not involve a single supplement. Single travellers joining group trips are paired in twin or multi-share accommodation with someone of the same sex for the duration of the trip. Some of our Independent trips are designed differently and single travellers on these itineraries must pay the single trip price.
Hotels (8 nts).
Accommodation for family trips has been chosen to give the best location and facilities for your family. They may vary depending on the location and destination, but designed to give the most comfortable experience while travelling. You and your family will generally be sharing rooms on a twin or triple share basis. These rooms will be either adjoining or located at close proximity to each other. Families will be roomed together and not with other families everywhere we stay. If you have any special hotel requests at the time of booking, let us know and we will do what we can to accommodate them.

Important Notes

Costa Rica will not be allowing anyone to enter the country without proof of a departure ticket (bus, airplane, boat, etc.). If you are travelling through a few countries in Central America, you will need to show proof of your itinerary and a departure ticket from your last destination. Please print the itinerary and voucher and bring it with you. Be prepared for rain and lower temperatures during the winter season (June-November), especially in Costa Rica's central valley.

Eating is a big part of traveling. Travelling with G Adventures you experience the vast array of wonderful food that is available out in the world. Generally meals are not included in the trip price when there is a choice of eating options, to give you the maximum flexibility in deciding where, what and with whom to eat. It also gives you more budgeting flexibility, though generally food is cheap. Our groups tend to eat together to enable you to taste a larger variety of dishes and enjoy each other's company. There is no obligation to do this though. Your CEO will be able to suggest favourite restaurants during your trip. The above information applies to G Adventures group trips. Please refer to the meals included and budget information for included meals and meal budgets.

Physical Requirements Our small group adventures bring together people of all ages. It is very important you are aware that, as a minimum, an average level of fitness and mobility' is required to undertake our easiest programs. Travellers must be able to walk without the aid of another person, climb 3-4 flights of stairs, step on and off small boats, and carry their own luggage at a minimum. Travellers with a pre-existing medical condition are required to complete a short medical questionnaire, which must be signed by their physician. This is to ensure that travellers have the necessary fitness and mobility to comfortably complete their chosen trip. While our CEOs work hard to ensure that all our travellers are catered for equally, it is not their responsibility to help individuals who cannot complete the day's activities unaided. Please refer to the physical ratings in this Trip Details document for more information. The medical questionnaire can be found online at:
Rules & Other Requirements Illegal drugs will not be tolerated on any trips. Possessing or using drugs not only contravenes the laws of the land but also puts the rest of the group at risk. Smoking marijuana and opium is a part of local culture in some parts of the world but is not acceptable for our travellers. Our philosophy of travel is one of respect towards everyone we encounter, and in particular the local people who make the world the special place it is. The exploitation of prostitutes is completely contrary to this philosophy. Our CEOs have the right to expel any member of the group if drugs are found in their possession or if they use prostitutes.
