Then head into nature to explore Torres del Paine National Park and the humbling Perito Moreno Glacier. Reaching the end of the world at Ushuaia is just the tip of the iceberg of this incredible adventure.

Day 1 Buenos Aires

Arrive in Buenos Aires and transfer to the hotel. There are no planned activities, so check in and enjoy the city. Included Activities: Arrival Day and Welcome Meeting Transport: Private Vehicle

Day 2 Buenos Aires/San Carlos de Bariloche (1B)

Catch a flight to northern Patagonia. Enjoy the highlights of the scenic San Carlos de Bariloche on a circuito chico tour. Additional Notes: The luggage restrictions for all Aerolineas Argentinas flights are 15kg for checked baggage and 5kg for carry-ons, if luggage is overweight fees will apply. No organic food is allowed as Patagonia is a protected area. Bags will be checked upon arrival in El Calafate. Included Activities: Circuito Chico Tour Transport: Plane (2.25-3.00 hours)

Day 3 San Carlos de Bariloche (1B)

Bariloche in many ways resembles the alpine resorts of Europe. Sample a beef parrillada, or a variety of fresh salmon or lake trout, then take a day hike around Cerro Catedral or enjoy some shopping. It’s also important to know that Bariloche is famous for its quality and quantity of chocolate!

Day 4 San Carlos de Bariloche/Puerto Varas (1B)

There are few areas in the world that can match the Chilean Lake District for scenic grandeur. Enjoy picture-perfect views of snow-capped mountains, waterfalls, emerald lakes, smoking volcanoes, forests, and glaciers. Additional Notes: The approximate journey time today is 10 to 11 hours. This journey is by comfortable bus and a scenic ferry across the Chilean/Argentine border. Travel time is approximate and based on the time of year and weather conditions. During certain times of the year, the ferry cannot be used. This requires that we will travel overland by bus. Included Activities: Cruce de los Lagos Cruise Border Crossing (Argentina Chile)

Day 5 Puerto Varas (1B)

Enjoy free time to explore on your own. Opt to take an excursion to Chiloé Island.

Day 6 Puerto Varas/Torres del Paine National Park (1B, 1D)

Words cannot describe the majesty and beauty of this national park in Chilean Patagonia. The lucky people have the opportunity to see this area and those who do will find it difficult to forget its vivid colours and tranquility. Once a large sheep estancia, the park was established in 1959 as the Parque Nacional Lago Grey. Prior to this, “baqueanos” (cowboys) grazed their flocks here and fires occasionally burnt out of control. More land was added to the park in 1962 and the name was changed to its present one. The “Torre” (Tower) Sur rises 2,900m (9,512 ft) above sea level, the Torre Central is 2,850m (9,348 ft) high, and the Torre Norte measures 2,600m (8,528 ft). The “Cuernos” (Horns) del Paine, massive blocks of various rock layers visible from great distances, are as spectacular as the towers themselves. Transport: Plane (2.00 hour(s)) Private Vehicle (5.00-6.00 hours)

Day 7 Torres del Paine National Park (1B, 1L, 1D)

Enjoy a day of exploring Torres del Paine National Park with an expert guide. Travel by van and embark on short walks to reach amazing lookouts. Marvel at pristine turquoise lakes, glaciers, and waterfalls at one of the most scenic parks in Patagonia. Included Activities: Torres del Paine National Park Excursion

Day 8 Torres del Paine National Park/El Calafate (1B)

Drive towards lofty peaks to the dynamic Moreno Glacier in Glacier National Park. Spot condors, rheas, eagles or flamingos en route, but the real star of the day is the glacier itself, located at the southern terminus of Glacier National Park. Transport: Private Vehicle (7.00-8.00 hours)

Day 9 El Calafate (1B)

This morning, enjoy a lecture by a local glacier expert. After, take an excursion into Glacier National Park to view the stunning Perito Moreno Glacier. There’s an option to get closer with a boat ride up to the front of the glacier. Included Activities: Glacier Talk Perito Moreno Glacier Tour Transport: Private Vehicle

Day 10 El Calafate/Ushuaia (1B)

Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world, is located on the shores of the Beagle Channel. Additional Notes: Opt to pre-book the "Tierra del Fuego National Park Visit" activity on the checkout page ahead of time to include this optional on your tour. Transport: Plane (1.25-1.50 hours)

Day 11 Ushuaia (1B)

Navigate the Beagle Channel on a catamaran and admire the Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse, Seal Island, and Bird Island. Later, get up close and personal with the penguins on Martillo Island as you explore the rookery with a naturalist guide. Included Activities: Penguin Rookery & Beagle Channel Excursion

Day 12 Ushuaia/Buenos Aires (1B, 1D)

Fly north to the buzzing metropolis that is Buenos Aires. Known as the “Paris of the Americas”, Buenos Aires is a vibrant city full of life. When you’re finished exploring, rest your feet and enjoy a drink at one of the many sidewalk cafés, ideal places to get a feel for the contemplative Argentine way of life. Since Buenos Aires will be the last chance to try the succulent beef, chicken, and chorizo parrilladas, dig in and enjoy! Included Activities: Local Tango Lesson Transport: Plane (3.50 hour(s))

Day 13 Buenos Aires (1B)

Known as the “Paris of the Americas”, Buenos Aires is a vibrant city full of life. Visit the districts of La Boca, Recoleta, and San Telmo. Consider catching a tango show at one of the many famous tanguerías or wander the pedestrian walkways and see some dancing in the streets. Additional Notes: Transportation can vary on this day. Depending on the size of the group, we may take taxis, a private mini-bus, or even jump on the very fast and convenient metro. Included Activities: Buenos Aires Guided City Tour

Day 14 Buenos Aires (1B)

Depart at any time. Included Activities: Departure Day

Great Activities and Scenery

This was our first G Adventures trip and it was a comfort (vs classic) tour. Overall we loved the tour and all it had to offer. The glaciers, National Parks, hikes, scenery, local travel options including ferry/boats all exceeded our expectations. We chose to participate in all the included activities and many optional ones including a boat ride to Perito Moreno Glacier, Teatro Colon Tour, Osorno Volcano Day hike, Tierra del Fuego NP visit, and a helicopter landing on the Andes in Ushuaia. We enjoyed all the included adventures including the Penguin experience, tango lesson, travel via catamaran, Torres del Paine NP, Glacier NP, and the lecture by the glacier expert.

We had a diverse group with ages ranging from 25-88. Everyone was very respectful of each other and we all got along well. Our CEO (tour guide) Gino did an exceptional job of tending to everyone's needs and ensuring each of us was included in as much as we wished. He made it all seem easy and always had a great temperament. He was very skilled at keeping us moving and ensuring we all had fun. When unexpected things occurred such as illness, baggage issues, special needs he handled them well.

The one area I felt was lacking was in the accommodations and in particular in Puerto Varras. The original hotel utilized Radison Park Inn was considerily below our expectations and making the situation worse was that they had a party right next to our assigned rooms until 3:00 a.m. on the second night of our stay. We were able to arrange an upgrade to a sister property that was much nicer and quieter for our second night. The Radison Park Inn was an alternative hotel due to lack of space at the primary hotel but it quality does not match the description of a comfort tour and in my opinion should not be utilized even as a back up option.

Trip of a lifetime!

Magnificent mountain peaks, stunning glaciers and picture-perfect lakes. The twelve-person tour was well organized and well paced. Our guide, Romi, was fun and competent. She took good care of us and made sure we had a good time.

Half a dozen local guides joined us along the way, contributing new knowledge and their own perspectives.

Note that there were many more optional activities than were listed on the website, including a day in Bariloche of rafting or horseback riding with gauchos. We also enjoyed a couple of home visits, one featuring a meal prepared in a traditional pot made from a plow disk. And then there was that sweet trip to the dulce de leche tasting shop... So many pleasures, big and small, in an incredibly beautiful land!

My advice: Go a day early so you can take in Buenos Aires’ San Telmo Feria, a ten-block street market that is only held on Sundays.

Important Notes

TRAVEL DAYS This trip covers a lot of ground and there are a couple of long travel days. These travel days are always balanced out by relaxing, well-paced days to ensure full enjoyment and the destinations more than make up for any long travel experienced. LUGGAGE Please Note: Aerolineas Argentinas allows 1 piece of luggage that weighs up to 15kg on internal flights. If luggage is overweight, the airline charges 650 ARS at check-in (approx. 35 USD).

Eating is a big part of traveling. Travelling with G Adventures you experience the vast array of wonderful food that is available out in the world. Generally meals are not included in the trip price when there is a choice of eating options, to give you the maximum flexibility in deciding where, what and with whom to eat. It also gives you more budgeting flexibility, though generally food is cheap. Our groups tend to eat together to enable you to taste a larger variety of dishes and enjoy each other's company. There is no obligation to do this though. Your CEO will be able to suggest favourite restaurants during your trip. Note: Food is generally considered to be more expensive in Argentina and Chile than in most other South American Countries. Moreover, as this is a comfort tour many passengers may want to visit more exclusive restaurants.

Dossier Disclaimer

The information in this trip details document has been compiled with care and is provided in good faith. However it is subject to change, and does not form part of the contract between the client and the operator. The itinerary featured is correct at time of printing. It may differ slightly to the one in the brochure. Occasionally our itineraries change as we make improvements that stem from past travellers, comments and our own research. Sometimes it can be a small change like adding an extra meal along the itinerary. Sometimes the change may result in us altering the tour for the coming year. Ultimately, our goal is to provide you with the most rewarding experience. Please note that our brochure is usually released in November each year. If you have booked from the previous brochure you may find there have been some changes to the itinerary. VERY IMPORTANT: Please ensure that you print a final copy of your Trip Details to review a couple of days prior to travel, in case there have been changes that affect your plans.

Rules & Other Requirements

Illegal drugs will not be tolerated on any trips. Possessing or using drugs not only contravenes the laws of the land but also puts the rest of the group at risk. Smoking marijuana and opium is a part of local culture in some parts of the world but is not acceptable for our travellers. Our philosophy of travel is one of respect towards everyone we encounter, and in particular the local people who make the world the special place it is. The exploitation of prostitutes is completely contrary to this philosophy. Our CEOs have the right to expel any member of the group if drugs are found in their possession or if they use prostitutes.
