Great group tour experience. I was glad that I packed light! It was a small surprise to take so much public transportation everywhere. But our guide was amazing, and we saw a nice combination of classic sights and local gems.

My tour with G Adventures to Japan was spectacular! The focus was on an immersive experience, and I worried this might mean an elimination of classic sights. Since I'd never been to Japan, it was important to me to have both a local experience as well as learn the history and see what "tourists" see.

My reservations were quickly abated, as the tours was a wonderful balance of both. We ate in local restaurants and took public transportation, visited famous temples, and took walking tours through monasteries. One of the most amazing experiences was chanting with Buddhist monks high in the mountains at a traditional Buddhist Monastery in Koyasan, as rain poured down outside adding to the mystical feeling of being out of place and time. Truly spectacular and something I'll never forget.

Our guide, Kozo was amazing. Incredibly knowledgable and as a local himself, eager to share his culture with all of us. I also very much appreciated having someone who spoke the language along with us.

I would highly recommend this tour! My one warning would be to say that you will be lugging your suitcase around on public transportation, which can be a bit of a drag. Pack light!

I was fortunate to get a great group of people which made the trip very enjoyable. I saw so many new places but didn't feel like I was rushed through it. The trip was organized so that I was doing new things but in an environment where I was comfortable.

Meals

Eating is a big part of traveling. Travelling with G Adventures you experience the vast array of wonderful food that is available out in the world. Outside Ulaan Baatar, Mongolian diet consists mainly of mutton and few fresh vegetables. Please, be prepared to very limited variety. If you prefer to spice your food, we recommend you to bring your favourite spices and supplies from home (or buy them in Ulaan Baatar). Vegetarian option is possible on Mongolia trips, but again - local died provides almost no variety. Vegetarians may choose to supplement meals with supplies bought from home, i.e. protein bars, bags of dried fruits, etc. Ulaan Baatar has a good selection of imported goods where you can stock up on food such as cereals, UHT milk, chocolate, fruit juice, biscuits, candies & chocolate, rice and pasta. For all trips please refer to the meals included and budget information for included meals and meal budgets.

Physical Requirements Our small group adventures bring together people of all ages. It is very important you are aware that, as a minimum, an average level of fitness and mobility' is required to undertake our easiest programs. Travellers must be able to walk without the aid of another person, climb 3-4 flights of stairs, step on and off small boats, and carry their own luggage at a minimum. Travellers with a pre-existing medical condition are required to complete a short medical questionnaire, which must be signed by their physician. This is to ensure that travellers have the necessary fitness and mobility to comfortably complete their chosen trip. While our CEOs work hard to ensure that all our travellers are catered for equally, it is not their responsibility to help individuals who cannot complete the day's activities unaided. Please refer to the physical ratings in this Trip Details document for more information. The medical questionnaire can be found online at: www.gadventures.com/medical-form.
Rules & Other Requirements Illegal drugs will not be tolerated on any trips. Possessing or using drugs not only contravenes the laws of the land but also puts the rest of the group at risk. Smoking marijuana and opium is a part of local culture in some parts of the world but is not acceptable for our travellers. Our philosophy of travel is one of respect towards everyone we encounter, and in particular the local people who make the world the special place it is. The exploitation of prostitutes is completely contrary to this philosophy. Our CEOs have the right to expel any member of the group if drugs are found in their possession or if they use prostitutes.
