Great group tour experience. I was glad that I packed light! It was a small surprise to take so much public transportation everywhere. But our guide was amazing, and we saw a nice combination of classic sights and local gems.

Trek Hidden Costa Rica is a great way to explore the country. I feel like I got so much more out of this trip than I would have on a tour that hits all touristy spots. Very active trip, got to see a lot of wildlife, plus beach/mountains/countryside/waterfalls - so many amazing views! Would highly recommend this trip and will very likely be traveling with GAdventures again.

Magnificent mountain peaks, stunning glaciers and picture-perfect lakes. The twelve-person tour was well organized and well paced. Our guide, Romi, was fun and competent. She took good care of us and made sure we had a good time.

Half a dozen local guides joined us along the way, contributing new knowledge and their own perspectives.

Note that there were many more optional activities than were listed on the website, including a day in Bariloche of rafting or horseback riding with gauchos. We also enjoyed a couple of home visits, one featuring a meal prepared in a traditional pot made from a plow disk. And then there was that sweet trip to the dulce de leche tasting shop... So many pleasures, big and small, in an incredibly beautiful land!

My advice: Go a day early so you can take in Buenos Aires’ San Telmo Feria, a ten-block street market that is only held on Sundays.

I just wanted to go someplace cold. Okla is too hot too much of the year So I picked Iceland. Seemed like it'd be cold. What I found was a top of the line tour. Never had to touch my 'heavy' bags between hotels. And speaking of hotels. I'm picky, and these were very nice, especially Hotel Ranga. Tours were beautifully led by our Icelandic guide, whose name I can only spell the way it sounded. HavLeavie Christionson. He was a wonderful guide, a proud son of Iceland. And full of great old Icelandic stories. Also our expert, Dr Steve Williams was personable and excited about the subject of the Northern Lights. His lectures were entertaining and helped me better understand the what and why of how they happen. I was excited to 'test' myself on the hiking day. We headed out to some of the rough and rustic areas of Iceland in jeeps and got a close up look of glacial rock, fast running glacial melt water, and though I am 70 I was happy to successfully make the treks provided. I'm sure the hike was geared to our comfort level, probably 'moderate' would describe it. I never needed the Icelandic currency. Most places take credit cards. The food on the tour was wonderful, so I never paid for extra meals. No need. We had time to shop for gifts, which I must admit are expensive in Iceland. I did tip our Icelandic guide with what little Icelandic currency I brought. He was so helpful and really good spirited. A nice person. It was cold and rainy most of our trip and we were told to layer. Great advice. And as Havleavie said, "We dress for the weather and we go!" And we did. Dinner meals were fine affairs. We dressed in nicer clothes, I wore slacks and a pretty sweater or blouse. Also, took a a universal adapter and surge protector for plugging in my computer and charging my phone. I don't remember that being in the 'items to bring' but it's necessary. So my trip, not knowing what to expect, was a grand experience that introduced me to a wild and picturesque country with sturdy, optimistic and proud people--with fine meals, great leadership from our Smithsonian guides Lynda and Joe Murphy, our expert, Dr. Williams, and our Icelandic guide, to whom I must apologize for not being able to correctly spell his name, Havleavie!

I traveled with G Adventures in Japan, and it was a spectacular experience. This was my first introduction to traveling with on a group tour, and I will definitely be a loyal G customer. I was a bit taken aback by the extensive use of public transportation, with my bags, but this is part of traveling with G - a truly local experience.

Itinerary

Day 1 Longyearbyen (1D)

Please make sure you drop your checked luggage off at the meeting point between 9am - 12pm. A local representative will be in the luggage storage room. They can provide general information about the town or the embarkation process. All passengers will be transferred to the ship as a group for embarkation at 4pm. Please ensure that for embarkation you have your passport accessible (not in your luggage which is being transferred separately to the ship). Included Activities: Embarkation of the G Expedition Arrival Day Transport: Transfer by local bus from the meeting point in the city to the port. Local bus

Days 2-10 Spitsbergen

Our goal is to give travellers the best possible opportunity to see wildlife in and around the Svalbard archipelago. Ice conditions sometimes allow for sailing through the Hinlopenstretet towards the east coast of Spitsbergen, then through Freemansundet towards the south. However, this is not always possible. Some departures will explore alternative routes to maximize time in this remote destination. Early season voyages often provide the greatest opportunity to see large ice floes in the Arctic pack ice, which usually means excellent wildlife viewing. Later in the season, the group will cover more territory, which may allow the chance to explore the entire archipelago. This can lead into the less explored regions of Nordaustlandet and Kvitøya, or the continental edges where large whales are attracted by nutrient rich upwellings. Included Activities: Svalbard & Spitsbergen Exploration Arctic Lectures and Educational Programs Transport: G Expedition

Day 11 Longyearbyen (1B)

On departure day, transfers to the Longyearbyen airport will be offered to all passengers with flights scheduled. Additional Notes: General disembarkation from the vessel is at approximately 8:00am. You will be transferred to either the airport or the Radisson Blu Polar hotel, depending on the time of your flight. Those transferred to the hotel will have an opportunity to explore the town centre on their own, and then be transferred to the airport later in the day as per flight schedules. Transfer times will be confirmed and communicated onboard prior to departure. Luggage storage at the Raddison Blu Polar hotel will be available until time of departure. Due to restrictive airline schedules for flights departing from Longyearbyen, we are pleased to offer an early morning disembarkation and transfer to the airport for those passengers with flights departing Longyearbyen around 2:30am (dependent on airline schedules). Included Activities: Departure Day Transport: Local bus (0.25-0.50 hours)
