This trip with G Adventures was amazing. Every day we were visiting a new place, a new paradise. Walking through the tropical forest, we were always amazed by the wildlife we encountered. There are no words to describe the feeling you get when you wake up roasting in the sun listening to the bird and the river that is just next to your sleeping arrangement. This trip was amazing because we got to stay with locals. Each place we went was more amazing the the previous one. There is no better place to get away from work, relax and enjoy the simple things of life. Even though we walked a lot on this trip, I felt at peace with myself and relaxed when I got back.

Amazing place, amazing people, breathtaking scenery what else do you need?

I just returned from this Costa Rica Quest trip. It was probably the best vacation of my life. It was an ACTIVE vacation and there was little down time. If you want a holiday where you are sitting by a pool and being waited on, then you shouldn't book this trip. However, if you like to try new things, want some adventure, enjoy nature and meeting great people then go with G! Also, I found all of the staff to be exceptionally helpful and responsive.

I have already recommended G Adventure tours to my sister and she is now looking into booking a tour later this year. This was my first time travelling on my own and in this style of travelling, I absolutely loved it and definitely want to do another tour with G Adventures in the future. It was great travelling in a group and with a Costa Rican guide who made the trip really easy, fun and gave the group opportunities to explore real Costa Rica that I wouldn't have had travelling on my own e.g. the guide taking us to his family home for breakfast, public hot springs in Arenal and teaching us how to dance salsa and taking us to fun local discotecs. Would definitely recommend this trip and G Adventures in general to other friends and family. August 2016

As a first time G Adventure client. I thought the tour itself is very well planned. It gave an interesting overview of many areas- flora and fauna and physical features of the various areas of Costa Rica. Our tour guide provided a balance of directed activity and great suggestions for our "free" individual choice times for excursions. I felt as though I had a brush with the real culture of this country. A very positive experience.

If you want to experience the real Cuba, this is certainly the tour to pick. The Casa's are far from perfect, but get you up and close to the real Cuba and more importantly the real Cubans and their colourful lives.

Itinerary

Day 1 Guatemala City/Antigua Guatemala

Arrive at the Guatemala City airport and transfer to your hotel in Antigua. There are no planned activities during the day, so check into the hotel and enjoy this charming city. Additional Notes: Please note that Antigua's nearest airport is Guatemala City, Guatemala. Don't get caught flying into the Caribbean island nation of Antigua; it's nowhere near the start of this tour! Included Activities: Arrival Day and Welcome Meeting Transport: Private Vehicle

Day 2 Antigua Guatemala/Jaibalito (1B)

Jaibalito is a small village on the shore of Lake Atitlán, known for its tranquility. It is accessible only by boat and foot trail and offers stunning views of the three volcanoes and lake. The area is also ideal for outdoor pursuits like swimming, fishing, wind surfing, hiking, bird watching, kayaking, and horseback riding. Transport: Private Vehicle Boat

Day 3 Jaibalito (1B)

Volcanoes and small indigenous villages surround this pristine lake, truly one of the most beautiful spots in Central America. Twelve traditional Maya villages, blue/grey mountains and three volcanoes line the shores of this lake resulting in a wonderful combination of unusual natural beauty and indigenous culture. Visit some of the villages of Lake Atitlán on an included boat tour. The towns will be be abuzz preparing for Holy Week processionals and activities, so our timing is just right to get a sense of the colour, costumes and age-old customs that surround this holiday time. Included Activities: Lake Atitlan Indigenous Villages Visit Transport: Boat

Day 4 Jaibalito (1B)

A trip to Guatemala would not be complete without a visit to the famous market of Chichicastenango. Renowned for its colourful handicrafts, wood carvings, and hand-woven textiles, “Chichi” is also an important trading place for the local residents, and provides close-up views of daily life of today's Maya. Additional Notes: Please note that the actual day we visit Chichi market is subject to change based on market day schedules. Included Activities: Chichicastenango Market Visit Transport: Boat Private Vehicle

Day 5 Jaibalito/Antigua Guatemala (1B)

Return to Antigua to explore the city, shop, and of course, to enjoy the Semana Santa (or Holy Week) celebrations. When we arrive, Semana Santa will be in full swing, and there will be plenty to see and experience. As home to the world's largest Holy Week celebration, the spectacular Easter festival here is beyond comparison. In between observing these ceremonies, you may choose to climb a nearby volcano, mountain bike through the countryside or just relax in a pleasant street side café. Additional Notes: Our schedule over the next few days will be flexible, allowing our CEO to best plan out what activities and events we can participate in. When and what is done each day will be relayed to you on the ground, by the CEO allowing for him/her to make the most out of our time here. Included Activities: Holy Week Celebrations Transport: Boat Private Vehicle

Day 6 Antigua Guatemala (1B)

This evening, put on your dancing shoes and opt to take an optional Salsa class. Included Activities: Antigua Cultural Walking Tour Holy Week Celebrations

Days 7-9 Antigua Guatemala

On Good Friday, residents begin laying down painstakingly detailed street "carpets" of flowers, pine needles and and dyed sawdust. Each design is unique and fleeting, as the carpet disappears as soon as a procession passes through. Join in and help create one of these elaborate carpets. Early in the morning, elaborate processions begin, slowly moving the heavy, palm-decorated "Anda" (special float) of Christ along the streets in a sombre re-enactment of his crucifixion. An honour passed down from generation to generation, the men involved in the processions, known as "Cucuruchas", wear purple cloaks (symbolizing mourning) and hold burning incense as they walk. Marvel as they take turns bearing the weight of the solid wood carved platforms, weighing up to 3,630kg (8,000lb)! Included Activities: Holy Week Celebrations

Day 10 Antigua Guatemala (1B)

Meals

Eating is a big part of traveling. Travelling with G Adventures you experience the vast array of wonderful food that is available out in the world. Generally meals are not included in the trip price when there is a choice of eating options, to give you the maximum flexibility in deciding where, what and with whom to eat. It also gives you more budgeting flexibility, though generally food is cheap. Our groups tend to eat together to enable you to taste a larger variety of dishes and enjoy each other's company. There is no obligation to do this though. Your CEO will be able to suggest favourite restaurants during your trip. For all trips please refer to the meals included and budget information for included meals and meal budgets.

Physical Requirements Our small group adventures bring together people of all ages. It is very important you are aware that, as a minimum, an average level of fitness and mobility' is required to undertake our easiest programs. Travellers must be able to walk without the aid of another person, climb 3-4 flights of stairs, step on and off small boats, and carry their own luggage at a minimum. Smoking marijuana and opium is a part of local culture in some parts of the world but is not acceptable for our travellers. Our philosophy of travel is one of respect towards everyone we encounter, and in particular the local people who make the world the special place it is. The exploitation of prostitutes is completely contrary to this philosophy. Our CEOs have the right to expel any member of the group if drugs are found in their possession or if they use prostitutes.
