Overview

Highlights

  • Take in the glacial alpine scenery along the huayhuash circuit
  • Challenge yourself and conquer high-altitude mountain passes
  • Sleep in tents under the stars in the remote wilderness

Short Description

Comparable to the Himalayas and the Rockies in terms of snow-capped alpine beauty, Peru’s Cordillera Huayhuash is a mountain climber's dream come true. Located in one of the most remote sections of the Andes, the range asks a lot from those who trek it. Rest assured that your mountain guide has all the expertise, equipment, and encouragement needed to get the most out of these majestic peaks. Great on its own, this trip gets even better when paired with a Machu Picchu trek or any other Peru-based adventure. This is an abbreviated 7 day version of the circuit.

Small groups are usually defined as between 10 and 24 travelers, often less. If you're the kind of person who enjoys more intimate experiences and personal service this is a good choice. All else being equal you will pay a premium for this style vs a larger group tour.

Absolutely amazing beauty. Knowledgeable, friendly, customer service oriented guides and support staff that did everything they could to cater to each of us. Phenomenal food (and plenty of it) - felt a little guilty eating a delicious hot meal for lunch while other trekkers had cheese and crackers :) Just the right length trip and overall difficulty - although some sections were tougher than others, I never felt that it was above my abilities or fitness level. Overall, a trip and company that I would definitely recommend to anyone interested.

Great first time experience in Europe. I got to hike the Alps with a great CEO that was well organised and really friendly. I also met 9 other travellers from across the world and learned a lot while hiking 24 KM Trek's with them. I would recommend this trip to anyone looking to take a break from city life and enjoy the beauty of the Alps.

Some of our Independent trips are designed differently and single travellers on these itineraries must pay the single trip price.

Age Notes

Min. Age: You must be 18 to travel unaccompanied on a G Adventures tour. For minors travelling with a guardian over 21 years old, the minimum age is 12.

Rules & Other Requirements

Illegal drugs will not be tolerated on any trips. Possessing or using drugs not only contravenes the laws of the land but also puts the rest of the group at risk. Smoking marijuana and opium is a part of local culture in some parts of the world but is not acceptable for our travellers. Our philosophy of travel is one of respect towards everyone we encounter, and in particular the local people who make the world the special place it is. The exploitation of prostitutes is completely contrary to this philosophy. Our CEOs have the right to expel any member of the group if drugs are found in their possession or if they use prostitutes.
