Day 2

MADRID. The capital of Spain since 1561, Madrid today is a strikingly modern city, the showcase of a country resolutely turned towards the future. Your Local Guide takes you to the Puerta del Sol, Plaza de España with its monument to Cervantes, the Parliament, Cibeles Fountain, elegant Calle Alcala, and Paseo de Castellana. (B)

Day 3

MADRID–SEGOVIA–AVILA–SALAMANCA. A day in beautiful Castile. Cross the rugged Sierra de Guadarrama mountain range on the way to Segovia, famous for the 2,000-year-old Roman aqueduct. Enjoy a walk through the walled town of Avila, where St. Theresa founded the Order of Carmelites. Arrive in Salamanca, and follow your Tour Director for a pleasant walk to beautiful PLAZA MAYOR. A highlight is [LF] your overnight stay at Hacienda Zorita, which once hosted Christopher Columbus, where a WINE TASTING and dinner await. (B,D)

Day 4

SALAMANCA–FATIMA, PORTUGAL–LISBON. The majestic scenery of the Serra da Estrela mountain range forms the backdrop of your morning drive into Portugal. Before heading for Lisbon, follow in the steps of pilgrims from all over the world as you visit the SANCTUARY OF OUR LADY OF THE HOLY ROSARY in Fátima. This evening, an optional dinner with Fado-style entertainment is the perfect introduction to Portugal’s capital. (B)

Day 5

LISBON. Lisbon was the center of Europe’s longest-lived overseas empire. Morning sightseeing with a Local Guide features a drive through the Baixa quarter’s main squares and a walk through the cobblestone alleys of quaint ALFAMA, the popular quarter of the seamen and Fado singers. Drive along the grand Avenida da Liberdade up to Pombal Square. Stop for pictures of Belem Tower, guarding the mouth of the Tagus, and the Monument to the Discoveries. Next, visit JERONIMOS MONASTERY with the tomb of Vasco da Gama. An optional excursion is available to the royal palace of Queluz. (B)

Day 6

LISBON–AZARUJA–SEVILLE, SPAIN. On the way back to Spain, stop in Azaruja to visit [LF] a CORK FACTORY and learn about the many ways this material can be used. Then, continue to the vibrant capital of Andalusia, Seville. (B,D)

Day 7

SEVILLE. During your sightseeing tour with a Local Guide, hear about the city’s role in Roman times, its conquest by the Moors in 712 AD, and its contribution to the discovery of the New World. Admire Maria Luisa Park, the Golden Tower on the Guadalquivir River, and the university that was once the tobacco factory of Carmen fame. Also visit the magnificent CASA DE PILATOS, a mixture of Moorish and Roman architecture with a splendid collection of Roman sculptures. Then, stroll through the narrow lanes of the charming SANTA CRUZ QUARTER. For those interested, an optional extended guided visit to the cathedral is available, and tonight, for a truly Andalusian night out, reserve a seat at our optional Flamenco show. (B)

Day 8

SEVILLE–TANGIER, MOROCCO. Through the sunny sherry wine region of Jerez to Algeciras. Board your FERRY and sail across the Strait of Gibraltar to Africa. Continue to Tangier, jumping-off point for the Moorish conquest of Spain and home town of legendary medieval traveler Ibn Batuta. Sightseeing with a Local Guide includes a [LF] spectacular panoramic drive to CAP SPARTEL. Marvel at the views and quench your thirst Bedouin-style with a glass of hot mint tea, accompanied by local biscuits. Also visit Tangier’s exciting and colorful GRAND SOCCO square and explore the narrow streets of the kasbah. This evening, enjoy Moroccan entertainment during dinner at your hotel. (B,D)

Day 11

COSTA DEL SOL–GRANADA. Into the mountains to history-steeped Granada. A guided walking tour features its main attraction, the ALHAMBRA COMPLEX. A fantasy of “lace in stone” surrounded by arabesque gardens and fountains, it affords superb views of the Old Quarter and Sacromonte, a mountain occupied by Gypsy cave dwellers. Also admire the magnificent WATER GARDENS OF THE GENERALIFE, the royal summer residence. This evening, dinner with local specialties has been prepared at one of Granada’s fine restaurants. (B,D)

Day 12

GRANADA–TOLEDO–MADRID. The olive and orange groves of the rolling Andalusian hills and, later, the more barren landscapes of Don Quixote’s La Mancha unfold before your eyes on the way north to Toledo, spectacularly situated on a granite hill surrounded by a loop of the Tagus River. Your walking tour with a Local Guide features the Moorish bridge and visits to an early SYNAGOGUE, the 13th-century gothic CATHEDRAL, and the CHURCH OF SANTO TOMÉ with one of El Greco’s most famous paintings. The Globus vacation, "Kenya: A Classic Safari", was the best vacation I ever had! Globus has a knack for putting the special touches on each trip and, coupled with the EXCELLENT travel guide assigned to our trip, succeeded in making this a trip to be remembered. The breakfast in the bush on the last day was magnificent. The Sundowner, mimosas to watch the sunset as well as the Maasai dance performance, was so memorable! Top notch! I wouldn't hesitate to do this trip again. Thank you, Globus!

Rate 0, would never touch Globus or Cosmos tour again. Be warned if there is an issue with your tour - Don't expect Globus to help you or provide a resolution – care factor is nil. Don't risk it - don't buy Globus or Cosmos. Globus and CEO of Globus accepts and approves employee bad behavior - including lying, disrespect and mock client in front of them and putting the client health and safety at risk - I have proof in emails that support this. Had major trouble on a Cosmos 15 night trip in Sicily - 10 nights of 15 nights trip went through extreme stress and no resolution (not during the trip or after rectification).

The tour guide was extremely unprofessional in behavior - lying to clients repeating, tour guide was disrespectful, mock, belittle, laugh about and downgrade clients in front of them in Italian thinking they don't understand what you are saying (clients understood what was said and extremely upset), the tour guide and company ignore risks and forced two of the shared clients to share with another that was an issue (that person should not been allowed to purchase a twin share or should of been told to get own room on tour - sharing with this person posed WHS hazards with power cords hanging mid high across room for their medical equipment (trip hazard) and breach of privacy and access to basic amenities (sharing with a stranger twin share - where can't shut bathroom door to go to toilet or shower - as the only power point is in bathroom and her equipment had to be plugged in for life support). Multiple clients on tour complained to tour guide for 10 days and demanded another room, the tour guide did not deal with it and lied, also mocked and disrespected clients in front of them. While on tour multiple complaints emailed direct to Globus as governing body did nothing and swept it under the table and ignored it. Multiple complaints was lodge after trip as well - still no action or resolution, Multiple complaints alerting CEO of Globus (12 pages letter full examples, photos and correspondence - still no action and I specifically ask CEO questions Does the CEO accept staff bad behaviour and breach of code of conduct - approving Globus staff lying, disrespectful, mocking clients and in Italian too and a whole heap more - I received a call today and YES the CEO of Globus approves the bad behaviour of staff and clients being disrespecting, mocking, lying and more. I travel extensively all over the world for 28 years, no other Tour company does this - all other companies will resolve it. Don't risk it - don't use Globus or Cosmos - if you have an issue you wont get help. Use another tour company - there are plenty of good ones out there who will stand by their service.

My husband and I and a good friend just returned from the Italian Escape in March. We travelled to Rome, Assisi, Florence, Pisa and Venice. What a great trip! Our excursions were wonderful- the Uffizi gallery, Tuscan dinner, Roman walking tour and Venice gondola ride. The tour guide Luca and Lucianna our bus driver did a very nice job. Our hotels, the Cicerone in Rome, the Grand Mediterraneo in Florence and Carlton on the Grand were very nice. (My favorite was the Grand Mediterraneo.)
Our travel connection was Steve in Littleton, Colorado and he was outstanding making our flight AND trip plans.
I was especially impressed with the expert planning on the part of a Globus. We saw so much in a weeks time, yet had plenty of time to experience Rome, Venice and Florence on our own.
We arrived in Rome early the 1st day so we scheduled a Skip the Line tour to visit the inside of the Coloseum, as that wasn’t scheduled on the Globus tour. We are really glad we were proactive in that way.
We HIGHLY recommend this Escape with Globus; we enjoyed it so much the week we got back we scheduled an Ireland Escape for later this year!

I sent an email to you about 2 weeks ago. I have lost faith and trust with Globus. Eleven of your travelers could easily have filed a suit for being stranded in a foreign country without ability to contact Globus. Shame on you.
Twice, I have traveled with you and twice I have found myself lost and alone in a foreign country.
