Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to Bali!

Accommodation: Ibis Styles Bali Legian

Greetings from Bali, Indonesia! Upon clearing Customs and Immigration, you’ll be met by an ICS Travel guide, carrying a sign with your name.

You'll receive a welcome packet including all necessary documentation and vouchers, and all contact information for your guides and local offices. Your guide will then accompany you to your hotel.

Transfer to hotel

Day 2: Legian

Today you will enjoy a full-day tour to the Balinese midlands, where you'll see ancient temples, colorful markets, rice terraces, and a UNESCO-certified irrigation system.

Bali Midlands Tour with lunch (full-day)

Discover the natural beauty and ancient relics of the Balinese midlands! Meet your guide and start the day with a visit to Pura Taman Ayun, the 17th-century temple of Mengwi set amidst ponds full of lotus blossoms. The large temples and multi-tiered shrines are surrounded by a wide, elegant moat. Continue to Bedugul, a village in the central highlands famous for its stunning beauty and three lakes.

Stroll through a traditional market with a myriad of fruits, vegetables, orchids, exotic spices and souvenirs. At the nearby Lake Bratan, take a photo of the Ulun Danu temple, built on small islands in a serene lake. After lunch in a local restaurant, drive south to the famous UNESCO-listed rice terraces of Jatiluwih. Trek through the green-stepped rice fields and learn about the Subak irrigation system preserved by Balinese farmers for centuries.

Day 3: Legian

Today is yours to enjoy in Legian or the nearby town of Kuta. Spend the day lounging on popular Kuta Beach or the less crowded Legian Beach.

Day 4: Legian – Ubud

Accommodation: Pertiwi Bisma 2

After a morning at leisure, you will be escorted to your next hotel in Ubud, known as the heart of Bali. Upon arrival, the remainder of the day is yours to enjoy a true taste of Balinese culture. Take a stroll through the grounds at Ubud Palace, where the local royal family lives. On many nights you can watch a dance performance here.

Transfer to Ubud

Day 5: Ubud

Embark on a full-day tour of east and west Bali where you'll discover the culture, countryside and stunning scenery of these regions. You'll begin the day with a dance performance, followed by Gunung Kawi temple, Mount Batur, and the famous rice terraces.

Volcano, Temple & Terrace Tour with lunch (full-day)

Explore the culture, countryside and stunning scenery of Bali, beginning with a performance of the famous Barong and Keris Dance. This traditional Balinese dance narrates the fight between good and evil and is a classic example of the Balinese way of blending myth and history into one reality.

Drive to Tampak Siring where you'll visit the temple of Gunung Kawi. Set at the bottom of a lush green river valley, these 11th-century temples feature 10 rock-cut shrines, called candi, carved into the cliff face. Walk down the temple stairs and take in the views of the terraced rice fields along the way.

Continue to Kintamani, set around the rim of the Gunung Batur crater. Look out over Bali's active volcano, Mount Batur, which soars over 5,000 ft into the sky. In the center is a beautiful turquoise green lake, the largest lake in Bali. After a late lunch in a local restaurant, drive back to Ubud with a stop in Tegalalang to see Bali's iconic rice terraces and enjoy a coffee break.

Day 6: Ubud

Today, head to one of Ubud's best-known attractions: Sacred Monkey Forest. At the end of Monkey Forest Road you will find a lush jungle sanctuary home to a colony of cheeky little macaque monkeys. Enjoy the surroundings, but watch out for your belongings!

If a monkey sanctuary isn't your cup of tea, visit one of Ubud’s many spas to unwind a la "Eat, Pray, Love."

Day 7: Ubud – Sanur

Accommodation: Swiss-Belresort Watu Jimbar

Spend the morning in Ubud then transfer to Sanur, your last stop in Bali on the east side of the island. Take a walk on the beachfront and enjoy views of resorts, beachfront cafes, wooden fishing boats and quite a few elegant old villas.

Transfer to Sanur

Day 8: Sanur

Spend the morning in Sanur at Bali Orchid Garden, where orchids thrive in the warm weather and rich volcanic soil. The garden is home to thousands of orchid varieties!

In the late afternoon, embark on your final guided tour taking you to Uluwatu Temple. Watch a dazzling Balinese dance on the temple grounds then enjoy a seafood feast in a beachfront restaurant.

Uluwatu, Kecak Dance & Seafood Dinner on the Beach Tour

Enjoy a visit to Uluwatu Temple, an evening of Kecak dancing, and a barbeque seafood dinner under the stars. In the late afternoon, visit the famous Uluwatu Temple perched on the edge of a steep cliff above the crashing waves of the Indian Ocean. The temple is inhabited by a large number of monkeys, many of whom can be found roaming the pathways. Keep your belongings close as these monkeys are very curious!

As the sun sets over the glittering ocean, watch a dramatic Kecak Dance or Ramayana Monkey Chant performance at the temple. Wearing traditional checked cloth around their waists, the male dancers chant in unison while depicting a battle from the Ramayana.

After the dance, drive to a scenic beach in Jimbaran for a barbeque seafood dinner. Feast on a succulent seafood like shrimp, grilled fish, squid and clams. Try some kangkung, also known as Indonesian water spinach, and add some heat in the form of sambal, a spicy Indonesian sauce.

Day 9: Sanur

On your last full day in Bali, visit the Museum Le Mayer, where Belgian painter Adrien-Jean Le Mayeur de Merpres lived and worked. Admire the impressionist paintings from his travels around the world and depictions of Sanur back when it was a small fishing village.

End your Balinese journey by strolling on the beach in Sanur and watching the legendary Bali sunsets.

Day 10: Depart Indonesia

Say goodbye to Bali as you transfer to Denpasar airport for your flight back home. Grab a few last-minute souvenirs before you board the plane.

Great Value Vacations ripped us off. They owe us $230.36, which is the difference between the amount we paid them, and the amount they paid for the airfare. The trip was canceled because of an earthquake, so we agreed to keep the airfare and book hotels on our own. Great Value Vacations did not refund us $230.36 of the difference. Furthermore, Great Value Vacations take over 2 weeks to respond to emails, and you wait on hold for over 1 hour to get an agent that can not help you. Great Value Vacations refused to pay us the rest of the money we are owed. Unethical business!

When I booked with Great Value I was nervous because it seemed too good to be true. Nope, just a really great deal. I was able to take my dream trip to Ireland and Scotland and it was within my budget. Everything was covered, my lodging, flights, and rental car. There was no hidden fees, or fine print that would nickel and dime me later on, as "good deals" usually have. I also had to change the date of my trip and the customer service was excellent and this change was simple. Thank you Great Value, I'll be using you every time I travel from now on

Everything on the trip was excellent. The only concern with any services from GVV was initial communications ahead of the trip regarding when and how we'd receive all our travel vouchers, as some were available online, and some were to be picked up in country upon arrival. It took no less than 5 phone calls to learn some vouchers would be picked up in country. The trip was outstanding, exhausting, but gloriously beautiful. It was exhausting from the perspective of moving around the country and only a few places were 2 nights. But, we knew that going in, and we wanted to see ALL of Switzerland and this certainly checked those boxes. We saw majestic mountains, we saw countless waterfalls and glaciers. The trains in Switzerland were all clean and we felt safe. The hotels were good with delicious breakfasts each morning. Overall, I would recommend GVV to a friend or family member and I would personally book another vacation with GVV.

This was my first time planning a trip out of the country. I read previous reviews who had a good experience with Great Value Vacation. Our trip was amazing! The booking and reservations were easy to use with the vouchers provided. The staff was helpful. The only downside was I upgraded to have an automatic vehicle and they gave me a stick shift. It took a while to get sorted out but other than that I loved my trip! I will definitely use great value vacations again when I book my next trip. I opted for the additional wine tasting package and I did not regret it! I recommend adding those additional tours to get a more complete experience.

My wife and I recently booked our vacation through Great Value Vacations. We were a bit nervous to travel to Europe for the first time, but we are glad we did. Great Value Vacations took care of us. Great customer service. Seamless transactions. They booked the hotels and flights for us. All we had to worry about were the daily activities! I would highly recommended them. The hotels offered through the package were as advertised: nice and in great locations. The flights times were also convenient. The best part was the price. I am thankful for the experiences Great Value Vacation was able to provide for us!

Really enjoyed both of my trips

Really enjoyed both of my trips through Great Value Vacations. I went on one family trip to Ireland (Adare villa, rental car with trips out to Dublin, Cliffs of Moher and more) . The villa was very comfortable with a kitchen, three bedrooms, and proximity to the local shops /restaurants. We were able to upgrade to an automatic car and had fun navigating to each location on our itinerary. The trip as planned by the agency still leaves time for exploring on your own and since we picked a trip with our own transportation, we had flexibility on which tours we wanted to do and when.

My second trip was a solo trip to Scotland. I like to go on vacation by myself sometimes, but it can be hard to find ones where you aren’t penalized for being on your own. This train trip to Edinburgh, Inverness, and Glasgow worked out really well for me. The hotels were all near the train stations and in safe areas (good lighting, plenty of people, etc.). I got a good mix of options for sightseeing in each city. The hop-on, hop-off bus circuit was especially useful for getting around Edinburgh. I also added an extra tour on in Glasgow to see nearby castles and a distillery and was very glad to have done so as the views of the countryside were amazing!

Summary: Have enjoyed my previous experiences and would definitely use again
