Day 2: Siem Reap

Start your trip with a visit to Angkor Wat, the crown jewel of Khmer architecture. The best preserved and largest of the Angkor temples, Angkor Wat offers amazing views, pure artistry in its carvings, and stunning design in its architecture.

Then you'll tour through the fortified city of Angkor Thom, decorated with demons, gods, and nagas guarding the entrance. Wander through ancient public squares, dedicated Terraces, and former royal spaces.

Finish at Preah Khan Temple. Explore narrow, winding corridors and towering walls to the heart of the enclosed temple, surrounded by jungle.

Sightseeing in Angkor

Take a stroll through the amazing Angkor Wat temple, considered the crown jewel of Khmer architecture. As the national symbol of Cambodia, Angkor Wat is not only the best preserved and largest of the Angkor temples, it is also the most religiously significant. Surrounded by a moat, fantastical statues, and lined with galleries and courtyards before you can even reach the central sanctuary, Angkor Wat's expansive grounds offer stunning views of the countryside, and its only the first stop.

Next is the fortified city of Angkor Thom. Protected by a wall and wide moats, statues of demons and gods look over the entrance and stand guard. Visit the Bayon Temple within and explore beautiful royal enclosures, ancient public squares, and old artworks standing the test of time all across the city.

Last on this stunning tour is Preah Khan, a striking temple with narrow corridors, towering walls, and a protected temple in the heart of it all, surrounded by jungle on all sides.

Day 3: Siem Reap

Spend the day touring amazing temples, from the carved pink sandstone temple of Banteay Srei and the 12-th century temple dedicated to Vishnu, to the overgrown temple of Ta Prohm, where most of the jungle growth has been allowed to remain.

See the pyramid-shaped temple of Pre Rup with five beautiful shrines adorning it and what is left of the ancient wooden Srah Srang Temple sitting on a tiny island in the middle of the Banteay Kdei basin.

Angkor Temple Tour

Start your tour by visiting Banteay Srei, carved from pink sandstone and known for its small stature and exquisite, delicate carvings covering the walls. Then you'll move onto Banteay Samre, a temple dedicated to the god Vishnu and Ta Prohm, a temple that has allowed most of the jungle growth to stay where it had grown, giving visitors the opportunity to see it the way it looked when European explorers first found it.

Then you'll move on to Pre Rup Temple where five square shrines sit among the top three tiers of the pyramid shaped temple, and then Srah Srang Temple is last, as the sun sets. Walk among this basin and visit the tiny island in the middle, where the remnants of what was once a wooden temple still stand.

Day 4: Siem Reap

Wonder at ancient and amazing temples that mark the beginning of Khmer classical art, ranging across city founders, Sanskrit inscriptions on doorposts, and delicate sandstone carvings. Then enjoy a tour through Khmer silk production at Puok Silk Farm, with a thorough walk-through of everything from collecting the cocoons from mulberry bushes to weaving the final product.

Historical Angkor Tour

Tour through a beautiful cluster of monuments and temples in the Roluos Group. Some of the earliest great temples built by the Khmer, sandstone carvings, Sanskrit inscriptions, Buddhist monasteries and more are waiting to be discovered in this group of amazing sights.

The you'll get to take an excursion to a silk farm that introduces the traditional Khmer silk production skills. Enjoy a thorough step-by-step explanation for the silk-producing process.

Day 5: Siem Reap - Kampong Thom

Today, you'll be transferred from Siem Reap to Kampong Thom where you will visit Sambor Prei Kuk.  Wander through a peaceful forest where over 100 temples have been sleeping since the 6th century. Explore these ancient complexes and gain some insight into what early Cambodia was like.

Transfer to Kampong Thom

Sambor Prei Kuk Tour

Take a trip through what could be the most important grouping of pre-Angkorian monuments in Cambodia. The Sambor Prei Kuk covers a group of over 100 small temples scattered throughout a peaceful forest, resting quietly in their places since the 6th century. Enjoy your tour through this ancient and mysterious look at earl architecture in Cambodia.

Day 6: Kampong Thom - Kampong Cham - Phnom Penh

During your transfer to Phnom Penh, visit the port town of Kampong Cham that rests along the Mekong River. Enjoy the town and experience the vibrant local market before heading out to the countryside to see Phnom Pros (Man Hill) and Phnom Srei (Woman Hill) where folklore says the tradition of men asking for a woman's hand in marriage originated from a stupa-building contest.

Then continue to Wat Nokor Bachey, a monastery that was founded on top of an 11th century Mahayana Buddhist shrine and is still thriving today.

Transfer to Phnom Penh

Kampong Cham Tour

Explore the town and wander through the bustling market of Kampong Cham, a bustling, colonial-styled port town. Then travel to the countryside of Phnom Pros (Man Hill) and Phnom Srei (Woman Hill), where the legend of two teams of men and women compete to build a stupa before dawn lives, which resulted in the reason why men have to be the ones to ask women for their hand in marriage. The continue on to Wat Nokor Bachey, a monastery founded on an 11th century Mahayana Buddhist shrine that is thriving today.

Day 7: Phnom Penh

On your last full day, enjoy the high-energy of Phnom Penh, a fascinating city filled with striking museums and unique street vendors. Visit the Royal Palace, which is still the official residence of the King, the elegant National Museum that houses Khmer art, the devastating but educational Toul Sleng Museum (Museum of Genocide).

Explore the modern day markets like Central Market with its vibrant fares, and the sprawling labyrinth that makes up the Russian Market, which offers everything from CDs, DVDs, and crafts, to silk, jewelry, and more.

Tour of Phnom Penh (full-day)

Experience the pure energy and chaos that makes up the fascinating city of Phnom Penh. In a city teeming with activity with the quiet reminder of a smaller town in a quieter time left in tree-lined streets and riverfront promenades. Street vendors call to the pedestrians going about their business, the Wat Phnom temple stands at the beginning of the capital, and the Royal Palace still stands as the official residence of the king.

The National Museum houses Khmer art with style among a collection of beautiful and varied Buddha statues. the Tuol Sleng Museum (Museum of Genocide) stands as a reminder of a darker past and now educates the public about the thousands that passed through its doors and never left. Central Market maintains the city's energy, offering places to shop, and the expansive Russian Market is a maze of stalls selling just about anything a visitor might look for.

When I booked with Great Value I was nervous because it seemed too good to be true. Nope, just a really great deal. I was able to take my dream trip to Ireland and Scotland and it was within my budget. Everything was covered, my lodging, flights, and rental car. There was no hidden fees, or fine print that would nickel and dime me later on, as "good deals" usually have. I also had to change the date of my trip and the customer service was excellent and this change was simple. Thank you Great Value, I'll be using you every time I travel from now on

Everything on the trip was excellent. The only concern with any services from GVV was initial communications ahead of the trip regarding when and how we'd receive all our travel vouchers, as some were available online, and some were to be picked up in country upon arrival. It took no less than 5 phone calls to learn some vouchers would be picked up in country. The trip was outstanding, exhausting, but gloriously beautiful. It was exhausting from the perspective of moving around the country and only a few places were 2 nights. But, we knew that going in, and we wanted to see ALL of Switzerland and this certainly checked those boxes. We saw majestic mountains, we saw countless waterfalls and glaciers. The trains in Switzerland were all clean and we felt safe. The hotels were good with delicious breakfasts each morning. Overall, I would recommend GVV to a friend or family member and I would personally book another vacation with GVV.

This was my first time planning a trip out of the country. I read previous reviews who had a good experience with Great Value Vacation. Our trip was amazing! The booking and reservations were easy to use with the vouchers provided. The staff was helpful. The only downside was I upgraded to have an automatic vehicle and they gave me a stick shift. It took a while to get sorted out but other than that I loved my trip! I will definitely use great value vacations again when I book my next trip. I opted for the additional wine tasting package and I did not regret it! I recommend adding those additional tours to get a more complete experience.

My wife and I recently booked our vacation through Great Value Vacations. We were a bit nervous to travel to Europe for the first time, but we are glad we did. Great Value Vacations took care of us. Great customer service. Seamless transactions. They booked the hotels and flights for us. All we had to worry about were the daily activities! I would highly recommended them. The hotels offered through the package were as advertised: nice and in great locations. The flights times were also convenient. The best part was the price. I am thankful for the experiences Great Value Vacation was able to provide for us!

Really enjoyed both of my trips

Really enjoyed both of my trips through Great Value Vacations. I went on one family trip to Ireland (Adare villa, rental car with trips out to Dublin, Cliffs of Moher and more) . The villa was very comfortable with a kitchen, three bedrooms, and proximity to the local shops /restaurants. We were able to upgrade to an automatic car and had fun navigating to each location on our itinerary. The trip as planned by the agency still leaves time for exploring on your own and since we picked a trip with our own transportation, we had flexibility on which tours we wanted to do and when.

My second trip was a solo trip to Scotland. I like to go on vacation by myself sometimes, but it can be hard to find ones where you aren’t penalized for being on your own. This train trip to Edinburgh, Inverness, and Glasgow worked out really well for me. The hotels were all near the train stations and in safe areas (good lighting, plenty of people, etc.). I got a good mix of options for sightseeing in each city. The hop-on, hop-off bus circuit was especially useful for getting around Edinburgh. I also added an extra tour on in Glasgow to see nearby castles and a distillery and was very glad to have done so as the views of the countryside were amazing!

Summary: Have enjoyed my previous experiences and would definitely use again

Just got back from our trip to Italy booked through Great Value Vacations & was our dream come true! We could not have gone if it were not for their unbelievable rates. Each 4 Star Villa we stayed at was above and beyond our expectations...I cried after leaving each part of our journey. I am so glad I took a leap of faith and would HIGHLY RECOMMEND booking with them. Besides the Villas being beautiful, great locations, clean, and great staff; each place we arrived at actually said, "They said to give you a very nice room." (with a rate of just under $1,900 a piece for 9 nights not counting travel days at 4 stars Villas in Rome, Tuscany, & Venice including airfare and rent a car... a few friends told us to expect the worst rooms at the places we were staying ~ NOT the case! Our rooms had the best views...I could go on and on. Every step of the way was smooth with no worries whatsoever. Thanks again GVV! LOVED IT!
