Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to Bangkok!

Accommodation: Ramada Plaza Bangkok Menam Riverside

Touch down in the bustling city of Bangkok. Once you've gone through Customs and Immigration, your adventure begins. Your guide will present you with a welcoming packet that includes documents you'll need on your trip as well as contact information for your guides and local offices.

Check into your hotel and the day is yours to pursue. In a city filled with glorious temples, unusual lifestyles, and vibrant culture, entertainment for any traveler waits just around the corner. Maybe you'll shop at Chatuchak Market, get a feel for the city by riding the sky train or visit the Grand Palace.

Day 2: Bangkok

Rise early for breakfast and enjoy a half-day tour that brings you to three of the most stunning temples Bangkok has to offer!

Later, explore Bangkok's klongs (canals) and see why the city used to be called "the Venice of the East."

Bangkok City & Temples Tour with lunch (half-day)

Wander through three stunning and sacred Buddhist Temples in Bangkok.

Weigh in at Wat Traimit or the Golden Buddha to see the Sukhothai-sculpted 5.5-ton solid-gold Buddha image. Said to date back as far as the early 13th century, the figure is as impressive as valuable.

Next is Wat Chetuphon, home to Wat Pho, the reclining Buddha image. It is regarded as the first center of public education, decorated in mural paintings, statues, and inscriptions. Intellectuals gather there to discuss a variety of subjects such as literature, astronomy, geology, meditation, and more.

Last but certainly not least is a temple that employs the delicate combination of Italian Carrara marble with classical Thai architecture to create the lovely and unique Wat Benchamabophit. The temple boasts 53 Buddha images and beautiful lotus flower-filled canals that can be crossed by footbridges.

Bangkok Klong Tour (half-day)

Nineteenth-century Bangkok was laced with canals, giving the capital the nickname the "Venice of the East." Surviving canals, as well as the Chao Phraya River itself (meaning the River of Kings), provide memorable vignettes of a traditional waterborne way-of-life that has remained essentially unchanged over the centuries.

The river and canals can conveniently be explored by public transport or via a traditional long-tailed boat. The tour will finally take you to Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn), a famous Chao Phraya riverbank landmark, which is best known for its porcelain encrusted central sparkling pagoda. After a wonderful tour, you will be brought back across the river to the main starting point.

Day 3: Bangkok

This morning embark on a tour to a rare sight almost exclusive to Thailand: the floating markets. This fascinating tour will take you along the Damnoen Saduak where you can witness the bustling market life of the boats, and of course, buy food and produce from them. Don't forget to haggle your prices here!

You will also get to visit Nakorn Pathom where the highest Chedi in Thailand rests. It is called the Phra Pathom Chedi, and is one of the largest pagodas in all of Southeast Asia.

The rest of the afternoon is yours to do as you wish, either spending the day learning about the meditation in the Chedi, shopping along the river, or something entirely different!

Damnoen Saduak Floating Market Tour (half-day)

Walk and haggle through the famous floating markets of Thailand. A narrow canal became the foundation of the Damnoen Saduak Market where food, produce, and souvenir shops bob along the water.

This tour will also bring you to the Nakorn Pathom, home to the highest Chedi and to the largest pagodas in Southeast Asia.

Day 4: Bangkok

Today you have an entire city at your fingertips. It's your last day in Bangkok and with no other prior engagements, you could do anything you like, from shopping to strolling through Lumpini Park or visiting the Jim Thompson House to learn about silk and its history.

Day 5: Bangkok – Phuket

Accommodation: Kata Palm Resort & Spa

Hop a plane for a short trip to Phuket where you will be picked up from the airport, and transferred to your next hotel. Check in and head out for more adventure. Phuket is known for its glorious beaches. Why not spend the day lounging on soft sand in front of clear blue water?

Day 6: Phuket

Spend the day in the surf and sun by bouncing around the gorgeous Phi Phi Islands. These islands are a paradise during the day and a party at night!

Phuket Phi-Phi Islands Tour by Speedboat with lunch (Full-Day)

Begin the morning with a road transfer to the pier, where you will take a speedboat to the Phi Phi Islands. The journey will take approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour. Visit Bamboo island where you can enjoy some free time to swim and snorkel, or simply lie and rest on the beach.

After lunch, continue to Phi Phi Ley which is home to the Viking Cave, a large limestone cavern where ancient rock paintings can be found. Your next stop will be to an amazing beach spot to relax and snorkel. The return boat-ride will arrive in the late afternoon to the pier in Phuket, from which you will be dropped off back at your hotel.

Day 7: Phuket

Live it up while you're spending time in Phuket. You could go for a traditional Thai massage, climb to the top of Phuket's Big Buddha and take in the amazing views from the 45-foot tall marble statue,

You could also take a kayak through Phang Nga Bay, one of the most amazing and beautiful landscapes in Thailand that can only be described as out of this world.

Day 8: Depart Thailand

Pick up your last minute souvenirs, transfer to the airport and wave goodbye to Thailand as you fly home.

When I booked with Great Value I was nervous because it seemed too good to be true. Nope, just a really great deal. I was able to take my dream trip to Ireland and Scotland and it was within my budget. Everything was covered, my lodging, flights, and rental car. There was no hidden fees, or fine print that would nickel and dime me later on, as "good deals" usually have. I also had to change the date of my trip and the customer service was excellent and this change was simple. Thank you Great Value, I'll be using you every time I travel from now on

Everything on the trip was excellent. The only concern with any services from GVV was initial communications ahead of the trip regarding when and how we'd receive all our travel vouchers, as some were available online, and some were to be picked up in country upon arrival. It took no less than 5 phone calls to learn some vouchers would be picked up in country. The trip was outstanding, exhausting, but gloriously beautiful. It was exhausting from the perspective of moving around the country and only a few places were 2 nights. But, we knew that going in, and we wanted to see ALL of Switzerland and this certainly checked those boxes. We saw majestic mountains, we saw countless waterfalls and glaciers. The trains in Switzerland were all clean and we felt safe. The hotels were good with delicious breakfasts each morning. Overall, I would recommend GVV to a friend or family member and I would personally book another vacation with GVV.

This was my first time planning a trip out of the country. I read previous reviews who had a good experience with Great Value Vacation. Our trip was amazing! The booking and reservations were easy to use with the vouchers provided. The staff was helpful. The only downside was I upgraded to have an automatic vehicle and they gave me a stick shift. It took a while to get sorted out but other than that I loved my trip! I will definitely use great value vacations again when I book my next trip. I opted for the additional wine tasting package and I did not regret it! I recommend adding those additional tours to get a more complete experience.

My wife and I recently booked our vacation through Great Value Vacations. We were a bit nervous to travel to Europe for the first time, but we are glad we did. Great Value Vacations took care of us. Great customer service. Seamless transactions. They booked the hotels and flights for us. All we had to worry about were the daily activities! I would highly recommended them. The hotels offered through the package were as advertised: nice and in great locations. The flights times were also convenient. The best part was the price. I am thankful for the experiences Great Value Vacation was able to provide for us!

Really enjoyed both of my trips

Really enjoyed both of my trips through Great Value Vacations. I went on one family trip to Ireland (Adare villa, rental car with trips out to Dublin, Cliffs of Moher and more) . The villa was very comfortable with a kitchen, three bedrooms, and proximity to the local shops /restaurants. We were able to upgrade to an automatic car and had fun navigating to each location on our itinerary. The trip as planned by the agency still leaves time for exploring on your own and since we picked a trip with our own transportation, we had flexibility on which tours we wanted to do and when.

My second trip was a solo trip to Scotland. I like to go on vacation by myself sometimes, but it can be hard to find ones where you aren’t penalized for being on your own. This train trip to Edinburgh, Inverness, and Glasgow worked out really well for me. The hotels were all near the train stations and in safe areas (good lighting, plenty of people, etc.). I got a good mix of options for sightseeing in each city. The hop-on, hop-off bus circuit was especially useful for getting around Edinburgh. I also added an extra tour on in Glasgow to see nearby castles and a distillery and was very glad to have done so as the views of the countryside were amazing!

Summary: Have enjoyed my previous experiences and would definitely use again

Just got back from our trip to Italy booked through Great Value Vacations & was our dream come true! We could not have gone if it were not for their unbelievable rates. Each 4 Star Villa we stayed at was above and beyond our expectations...I cried after leaving each part of our journey. I am so glad I took a leap of faith and would HIGHLY RECOMMEND booking with them. Besides the Villas being beautiful, great locations, clean, and great staff; each place we arrived at actually said, "They said to give you a very nice room." (with a rate of just under $1,900 a piece for 9 nights not counting travel days at 4 stars Villas in Rome, Tuscany, & Venice including airfare and rent a car... a few friends told us to expect the worst rooms at the places we were staying ~ NOT the case! Our rooms had the best views...I could go on and on. Every step of the way was smooth with no worries whatsoever. Thanks again GVV! LOVED IT!
