Day 1: Welcome to Buenos Aires!

Say "hola" to Argentina! Arrive in Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina and the center of the political, economic and intellectual life of the country. Buenos Aires has a strong European influence which is reflected by its refined taste in cooking, its luxury boutiques and in the elegance of its inhabitants. Despite modern developments, Buenos Aires has managed to preserve old traditions and charming neighborhoods.

Upon arrival at your hotel, you will be gifted with a bottle of Argentine wine and a voucher for dinner at a local restaurant. The wining and dining starts now!

Transfer to Buenos Aires hotel

Day 2: Buenos Aires

Wake up to bustling Buenos Aires and enjoy a 5-hour tour of the city's most famous landmarks and neighborhoods: Avendia de Mayo, San Temlo, Palermo, Recoleta, and Recoleta cemetery. Your tour concludes at the historic El Querandi tango house with a wine tasting.

You can't visit Buenos Aires without eating at a parrilla, a traditional Argentine steakhouse. Argentina is famous for its red angus cattle which produces some of the tastiest steak on the planet.

Buenos Aires city tour with wine tasting at El Querandi tango house (5-hours)

Start your city tour in Buenos Aires with a drive along 9 de Julio Avenue, the widest avenue in the world! Pass the Colon Theater, one of the world's best known opera houses and the cultural pride of the "porteños" (as the inhabitants of Buenos Aires are called). Visit the famous Avenida de Mayo that runs into Plaza De Mayo, surrounded by Casa Rosada (Government House), Metropolitan Cathedral and Cabildo (the first City Hall built during Spanish rule).

At the other end of Avenida de Mayo, see if you can spot the cupola of the Congress building. Stop inside for a visit of the Metropolitan Cathedral, an imposing Neo-classical building that is Argentina´s main Catholic building. The mausoleum of José de San Martín (Argentina's national hero) is located inside the cathedral, and Pope Francis used to celebrate religious services here when he was cardinal of Buenos Aires.

Continue to San Telmo, the oldest district in Buenos Aires. Stroll around Plaza Dorrego with its many antique shops (the plaza holds a well-known antique market on Sundays). Your next stop is La Boca, a colorful area with the famous Caminito street. Continue to north to Palermo, the green area of the city with its beautiful parks, City Zoo, Botanical Garden, Argentine Horse Track, National Polo Fields and artificial lakes.

Visit Recoleta, one of the city’s most glamorous neighborhoods with its elegant boutiques and restaurants, surrounded by centennial trees. The heart of Recoleta is the cemetery where some of the most famous Argentinians rest. The mausoleums and pantheons reflect the architectural diversity emerging from the different cultures of Argentina and is considered to be one of the most impressive monuments of Argentina. Visit the grave of Eva Duarte, also known as Eva Perón (Evita).

The last stop of the tour takes you to El Querandi tango house, established in 1867. Founded as a bar in 1920 and restored in 1992, it is considered to be “a living testimony of Buenos Aires’ memory” by the Buenos Aires City Museum and was named a “Notable Bar” by the National Tourist Secretary. End the tour with a wine tasting of different Argentinian wines at La Cave –El Querandi.

Day 3: Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires could rival Paris in terms of its art scene. The National Museum of Fine Arts, Latin American Art Museum of Buenos Aires (MALBA) and Tigre Art Museum are the most renowned museums to peruse some of Latin America’s finest art.

If art isn't your preferred choice, head to Buenos Aires Japanese Gardens, one of the largest Japanese gardens outside Japan. This green oasis is the ideal place to escape the hustle and bustle of Buenos Aires.

In the evening, head for a stroll along Puente de la Mujer (Woman's Bridge) in the Puerto Madero neighborhood. Then head out for a night of dining and tango!

Day 4: Buenos Aires - Mendoza

Today you will leave Buenos Aires and fly to Mendoza on the western edge of Argentina. Mendoza is home to rivers, valleys, canyons and the imposing Andes Mountains, with the highest peak in the Western Hemisphere, the Aconcagua Mountain at 22,831 ft.

A green oasis in the middle of a desert, Mendoza is the land of sunshine and good wine. Several wineries have settled in the area and produce the famous Malbec grapes.

While in Mendoza, don't miss out on a stroll through General San Martin Park and the lively nightlife along Avenue Arístides.

Fine cuisine goes hand-in-hand with fine wines, so this cooking class is the perfect way to combine the two. Held at one of the most renowned family-run wineries in Mendoza, this class is specially designed for those looking to learn the secrets of Argentine wine and food. You will learn how to use regional products in the cooking of traditional dishes with the help of professional chefs. When I booked with Great Value I was nervous because it seemed too good to be true. Nope, just a really great deal. I was able to take my dream trip to Ireland and Scotland and it was within my budget. Everything was covered, my lodging, flights, and rental car. There was no hidden fees, or fine print that would nickel and dime me later on, as "good deals" usually have. I also had to change the date of my trip and the customer service was excellent and this change was simple. Thank you Great Value, I'll be using you every time I travel from now on

Everything on the trip was excellent. The only concern with any services from GVV was initial communications ahead of the trip regarding when and how we'd receive all our travel vouchers, as some were available online, and some were to be picked up in country upon arrival. It took no less than 5 phone calls to learn some vouchers would be picked up in country. The trip was outstanding, exhausting, but gloriously beautiful. It was exhausting from the perspective of moving around the country and only a few places were 2 nights. But, we knew that going in, and we wanted to see ALL of Switzerland and this certainly checked those boxes. We saw majestic mountains, we saw countless waterfalls and glaciers. The trains in Switzerland were all clean and we felt safe. The hotels were good with delicious breakfasts each morning. Overall, I would recommend GVV to a friend or family member and I would personally book another vacation with GVV.

This was my first time planning a trip out of the country. I read previous reviews who had a good experience with Great Value Vacation. Our trip was amazing! The booking and reservations were easy to use with the vouchers provided. The staff was helpful. The only downside was I upgraded to have an automatic vehicle and they gave me a stick shift. It took a while to get sorted out but other than that I loved my trip! I will definitely use great value vacations again when I book my next trip. I opted for the additional wine tasting package and I did not regret it! I recommend adding those additional tours to get a more complete experience.

My wife and I recently booked our vacation through Great Value Vacations. We were a bit nervous to travel to Europe for the first time, but we are glad we did. Great Value Vacations took care of us. Great customer service. Seamless transactions. They booked the hotels and flights for us. All we had to worry about were the daily activities! I would highly recommended them. The hotels offered through the package were as advertised: nice and in great locations. The flights times were also convenient. The best part was the price. I am thankful for the experiences Great Value Vacation was able to provide for us!

Really enjoyed both of my trips through Great Value Vacations. I went on one family trip to Ireland (Adare villa, rental car with trips out to Dublin, Cliffs of Moher and more) . The villa was very comfortable with a kitchen, three bedrooms, and proximity to the local shops /restaurants. We were able to upgrade to an automatic car and had fun navigating to each location on our itinerary. The trip as planned by the agency still leaves time for exploring on your own and since we picked a trip with our own transportation, we had flexibility on which tours we wanted to do and when.

My second trip was a solo trip to Scotland. I like to go on vacation by myself sometimes, but it can be hard to find ones where you aren’t penalized for being on your own. This train trip to Edinburgh, Inverness, and Glasgow worked out really well for me. The hotels were all near the train stations and in safe areas (good lighting, plenty of people, etc.). I got a good mix of options for sightseeing in each city. The hop-on, hop-off bus circuit was especially useful for getting around Edinburgh. I also added an extra tour on in Glasgow to see nearby castles and a distillery and was very glad to have done so as the views of the countryside were amazing!

Summary: Have enjoyed my previous experiences and would definitely use again

Just got back from our trip to Italy booked through Great Value Vacations & was our dream come true! We could not have gone if it were not for their unbelievable rates. Each 4 Star Villa we stayed at was above and beyond our expectations...I cried after leaving each part of our journey. I am so glad I took a leap of faith and would HIGHLY RECOMMEND booking with them. Besides the Villas being beautiful, great locations, clean, and great staff; each place we arrived at actually said, "They said to give you a very nice room." (with a rate of just under $1,900 a piece for 9 nights not counting travel days at 4 stars Villas in Rome, Tuscany, & Venice including airfare and rent a car... a few friends told us to expect the worst rooms at the places we were staying ~ NOT the case! Our rooms had the best views...I could go on and on. Every step of the way was smooth with no worries whatsoever. Thanks again GVV! LOVED IT!
