Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to Paris!

Arrive in the sophisticated city of art, romance, and world-renowned cuisine - Paris! Enjoy a transfer to your first luxurious accommodation, then check-in and take some time to relax.

After settling in, grab your camera and get exploring! Sip the jet-lag away with a cappuccino at a nearby cafe, then walk along the bustling Champs-Élysées - it's never too early for some souvenir shopping! Wander through designer shops, snack on a croissant, then come face-to-face with the Arc de Triomphe, which sits at the end of this famous avenue.

Transfer to Paris hotel

Day 2: Paris

Today, say hello to one of Paris' most famous residents - Mona Lisa! Head to the Louvre and get lost in the countless masterpieces that line its walls. Then, consider checking out the magnificent Musee d'Orsay.

In the evening, enjoy a pleasant picnic in the Jardins du Trocadero and feast your eyes on stunning views of the one and only Eiffel Tower. Cross the Pont d'Iéna, then see the iconic landmark up-close! Be sure to stay after sunset and watch the tower as it magically sparkles against the darkness of nightfall.

Day 3: Paris - Avignon

Enjoy an early breakfast, then head to the rail station! Hop aboard the train to picturesque Avignon. Upon arrival, pick up your rental car, then make your way to your next accommodation.

Once you're all settled in, begin exploring this historic city. Walk to the legendary Saint Bénézet Bridge, then relax at an outdoor cafe near the quaint Place de l'Horloge. While this beautiful square is the bustling main hub of the city, it remains the perfect peaceful place to unwind.

Train to Avignon!

Day 4: Avignon

Start your morning strong, with a visit to the iconic 14th-century Palais des Papes! Why not treat yourself to a tour of the largest Gothic palace in the world? Explore the halls, chapels, frescos, and architecture of this amazing UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Snap some amazing photos in Place du Palais, the impressive square that surrounds Palais des Papes. Once you've taken enough - okay, way too many - selfies, take a short walk to the Rocher des Doms. Enjoy sweeping panoramic views of Avignon from this breathtaking public garden.

Day 5: Avignon

Make your way to another UNESCO World Heritage Site today! Gawk at the awe-inspiring 13th-century Petit Palais, the residence for Avignon's episcopal bishops before Pope Clement V constructed the Palais des Papes. Explore this Gothic fort-turned-art museum and stroll through its stunning courtyard.

In the afternoon, walk along the main street of the Old Town until you reach the Eglise Saint-Didier, a spectacular church that houses some of France's most remarkable Renaissance paintings. Spend the evening strolling around town, tasting local olive oils, chocolates, and wines!

Day 6: Avignon - Aix-en-Provence

Indulge in an energizing breakfast, then enjoy a scenic drive to picture-perfect Aix-en-Provence! Along the way, be sure to stop at the Parc Naturel Regional du Luberon. Feel your eyes widen as you stare into purple lavender fields, stroll through traditional villages, and take amazing photos of postcard-worthy natural beauty.

Upon arrival in Aix-en-Provence, settle into your hotel, then take a walk along the lively Cours Mirabeau. Treat yourself to dinner at an outdoor cafe, unwind with a local glass of wine, and weave in and out of the shops that line this bustling street.

Aix-en-Provence is known as the "City of a Thousand Fountains," so keep your eyes open for trickling waters and beautiful sculptures.

Day 7: Aix-en-Provence

After breakfast, check out a provincial market! The city's squares become flooded with stands selling sweet treats, fresh food, local herbs, and gorgeous garments. Check out markets in Place des Precheurs, Place de la Madeleine, Place de Verdun, and many others.

Next, stop by Terrain des Peintres and see the gorgeous mountain that inspired many of Cézanne's paintings, Mont Sainte-Victoire. The limestone that covers this breathtaking mountain reflects light, which makes it appear blue, grey, pink, and orange at different times of the day! Hike along a scenic path, or admire its beauty from afar.

Consider spending the rest of the day in Marseille, a picturesque port city to the south. Explore the area of Palais Longchamp, see Marseille Cathedral, then treat yourself to a seaside dinner in beautiful Cassis. Be sure to explore the Parc National des Calanques, an extraordinary oasis of turquoise waters, rugged cliffs, and sparkling seascapes. Take tons of selfies and make everyone back home jealous!

Day 8: Aix-en-Provence

Get ready for a memorable last day of adventure. Pay a visit to the ornate Aix Cathedral, then trace the steps of the famous painter Paul Cézanne at his family's mansion, Bastide du Has de Bouffan, and at his studio, the Atelier de Cézanne.

After an art-filled morning, you may want to a take a short trip to the majestic Parc Naturel Regional du Verdon, where you'll find bright blue waters, Verdon Gorge, sky high bridges, and unbeatable beauty.

Day 9: Depart France

Squeeze all your souvenirs into your luggage and enjoy one last scenic drive to the airport. Drop off your car, board your plane, and spend the flight home dreaming about your next adventure.

Fly home!

When I booked with Great Value I was nervous because it seemed too good to be true. Nope, just a really great deal. I was able to take my dream trip to Ireland and Scotland and it was within my budget. Everything was covered, my lodging, flights, and rental car. There was no hidden fees, or fine print that would nickel and dime me later on, as "good deals" usually have. I also had to change the date of my trip and the customer service was excellent and this change was simple. Thank you Great Value, I'll be using you every time I travel from now on

Everything on the trip was excellent. The only concern with any services from GVV was initial communications ahead of the trip regarding when and how we'd receive all our travel vouchers, as some were available online, and some were to be picked up in country upon arrival. It took no less than 5 phone calls to learn some vouchers would be picked up in country. The trip was outstanding, exhausting, but gloriously beautiful. It was exhausting from the perspective of moving around the country and only a few places were 2 nights. But, we knew that going in, and we wanted to see ALL of Switzerland and this certainly checked those boxes. We saw majestic mountains, we saw countless waterfalls and glaciers. The trains in Switzerland were all clean and we felt safe. The hotels were good with delicious breakfasts each morning. Overall, I would recommend GVV to a friend or family member and I would personally book another vacation with GVV.

This was my first time planning a trip out of the country. I read previous reviews who had a good experience with Great Value Vacation. Our trip was amazing! The booking and reservations were easy to use with the vouchers provided. The staff was helpful. The only downside was I upgraded to have an automatic vehicle and they gave me a stick shift. It took a while to get sorted out but other than that I loved my trip! I will definitely use great value vacations again when I book my next trip. I opted for the additional wine tasting package and I did not regret it! I recommend adding those additional tours to get a more complete experience.

My wife and I recently booked our vacation through Great Value Vacations. We were a bit nervous to travel to Europe for the first time, but we are glad we did. Great Value Vacations took care of us. Great customer service. Seamless transactions. They booked the hotels and flights for us. All we had to worry about were the daily activities! I would highly recommended them. The hotels offered through the package were as advertised: nice and in great locations. The flights times were also convenient. The best part was the price. I am thankful for the experiences Great Value Vacation was able to provide for us!

Really enjoyed both of my trips

Really enjoyed both of my trips through Great Value Vacations. I went on one family trip to Ireland (Adare villa, rental car with trips out to Dublin, Cliffs of Moher and more) . The villa was very comfortable with a kitchen, three bedrooms, and proximity to the local shops /restaurants. We were able to upgrade to an automatic car and had fun navigating to each location on our itinerary. The trip as planned by the agency still leaves time for exploring on your own and since we picked a trip with our own transportation, we had flexibility on which tours we wanted to do and when.

My second trip was a solo trip to Scotland. I like to go on vacation by myself sometimes, but it can be hard to find ones where you aren’t penalized for being on your own. This train trip to Edinburgh, Inverness, and Glasgow worked out really well for me. The hotels were all near the train stations and in safe areas (good lighting, plenty of people, etc.). I got a good mix of options for sightseeing in each city. The hop-on, hop-off bus circuit was especially useful for getting around Edinburgh. I also added an extra tour on in Glasgow to see nearby castles and a distillery and was very glad to have done so as the views of the countryside were amazing!

Summary: Have enjoyed my previous experiences and would definitely use again

Just got back from our trip to Italy booked through Great Value Vacations & was our dream come true! We could not have gone if it were not for their unbelievable rates. Each 4 Star Villa we stayed at was above and beyond our expectations...I cried after leaving each part of our journey. I am so glad I took a leap of faith and would HIGHLY RECOMMEND booking with them. Besides the Villas being beautiful, great locations, clean, and great staff; each place we arrived at actually said, "They said to give you a very nice room." (with a rate of just under $1,900 a piece for 9 nights not counting travel days at 4 stars Villas in Rome, Tuscany, & Venice including airfare and rent a car... a few friends told us to expect the worst rooms at the places we were staying ~ NOT the case! Our rooms had the best views...I could go on and on. Every step of the way was smooth with no worries whatsoever. Thanks again GVV! LOVED IT!
