Itinerary

Make your way to your gateway airport to board your flight to India. Enjoy in-flight meals and services. Overnight onboard the flight

Day 2: DELHI ARRIVAL

Evening: Welcome to Delhi, India! a monumental city with a vibrant mix of old and new teeming bazaars, stately British boulevards, powerful Mughal palaces and forts, and intricate, ethereal towers, temples and tombs. On arrival at Delhi International Airport you will be met and assisted by our company executive and transferred to your hotel.

Accommodation: Overnight in Delhi

Day 3: DELHI AGRA

Breakfast: At hotel
Morning: Tour Old and New Delhi visiting Raj Ghat, Mahatma Gandhi’s serene and evocative cremation site, India Gate (the War Memorial) and the Presidents House (from the outside), the Baha’i Lotus Temple (closed on Mondays) - this distinctive lotus shaped marvel in marble is a symbol of peace, the Qutub Minar a stunning 240-foot minaret, the tallest in the world surrounded by an elaborate complex built in the Indo-Islamic architectural tradition.
Afternoon: Drive to Agra. On arrival check in to the hotel
Evening: At leisure
Accommodation: Overnight in Agra
Meals Included: Breakfast

Day 4: AGRA

Early Morning: Visit Taj Mahal a sunrise (closed on Fridays). Often considered the pinnacle of Mughal art in India, the Taj Mahal was built by Emperor Shah Jahan for his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal. When declaring it a world heritage site, UNESCO described it as “the jewel of Muslim art in India”. There are few words that can describe the magnificence of this monument. Marvel as light and colors transform this stunning monument in the beautiful dawn glow. Return back to the hotel
Breakfast: At hotel
Later take a Marble craftsmanship demonstration
Evening: Accommodation: Overnight in Agra

Accommodation: Overnight in Agra

Day 5: AGRA - JAIPUR

Breakfast: At hotel
Morning: Drive to Jaipur, enroute visit Fatehpur Sikri -an eerily abandoned capital from the Mughal Empire between 1570 and 1586. Akbar built this city to celebrate the birth of his son and future heir to the throne, Emperor Jahangir. While Akbar is believed to have been illiterate, he took great interest in the arts and architecture; Fatehpur Sikri is one of his masterworks. Sadly, it served as capital for little more than a decade, eventually abandoned for lack of accessible water.
Afternoon: Demonstration of gem-cutting & polishing
Evening: On arrival check in to the hotel. Jaipur, Rajasthan’s capital is also known as the Pink City. The origin of this nickname becomes immediately apparent as you enter the old city walls and greet the pink-colored buildings that rise at every turn.

Day 6: JAIPUR

Breakfast: At hotel
Morning: Start with an exhilarating excursion to Amber Fort perched on top of a hill. A royal ride on elephant (subject to availability) up the hill like the Maharajas of past times and visit the Jagmandir (the hall of victory). Perched on a hillside on the outskirts of town, the palace was constructed in the 1590s by Maharaja Man Singh, the commander of Akbar’s army, and was largely motivated by the highly defensible location. This is a beautiful and very well preserved structure, built on four levels and surrounded by ruins, which served as the backdrop for the Mira Nair movie “Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love.”
Afternoon: At leisure

Accommodation: Overnight in Jaipur
Meals Included: Breakfast

Day 7: JAIPUR - PUSHKAR

Breakfast: At hotel
Morning: Drive to Pushkar a sacred city for Hindus. Surrounded by hills on three sides and sand dunes on the fourth, Pushkar forms a fascinating location and a befitting backdrop for the annual religious and cattle fair (held in November). A quiet, secluded desert town for 51 weeks a year, for just a few days it becomes an absolutely incredible and authentic extravaganza during the annual Pushkar Fair. Drawing people from all around the globe, it is also quite possibly the largest camel and cattle-trading fair in the world.
Afternoon: Arrive in Pushkar; check in to the hotel. Enjoy a walking tour of the holy city of the God, Brahma; visit the holy Pushkar Lake and the famous 8th century Brahma Temple dedicated to Lord Brahma the creator of the universe and the only Bull temple in the world. Experience a special Pooja ceremony at a Ghat with a Hindu priest on the banks of Pushkar Lake

Accommodation: Overnight in Pushkar (Special Deluxe Tents during the Pushkar Camel Fair)
Meals Included: Breakfast

Day 8: PUSHKAR - UDAIPUR

Breakfast: At hotel
Morning: After breakfast drive to Udaipur. Udaipur is the majestic city of lakes and palaces. Founded by Maharana Udai Singh in 1559 and fondly referred to as Rajasthan’s most romantic city, its rich history is matched by its picturesque setting among the Aravalli Mountains and three manmade lakes.
Afternoon: On arrival in Udaipur; check in to the hotel.

Accommodation: Overnight in Udaipur
Meals Included: Breakfast

Day 9: UDAIPUR

Breakfast: At hotel
Morning: Begin our day at the City Palace, overlooking the blue waters of Lake Pichola. Maharana Udai Singh initiated construction in 1559 A.D. and it was subsequently expanded, with impressive uniformity, by several succeeding Maharanas. The palace consists of a number of beautiful courtyards and gardens. The main hall has been converted into a museum, housing opulent artifacts and original works of art. Inside the complex we will find the exquisite crystal gallery, exhibiting 19th century pieces including crystal chandeliers, tables, sofas and beds. We will continue walking towards the Jagdish Temple to study its many remarkable friezes. Lavishly built in 1651 by Maharana Jagat Singh, it is easy to understand why Jagdish is the most venerated Hindu temple in Udaipur. Afterwards we will explore the Old City, wandering through its bustling streets lined with art shops, spice vendors, tailors and more.
Accommodation: Overnight in Udaipur
Meals Included: Breakfast

Day 10: UDAIPUR - DELHI (BY FLIGHT)

Breakfast: At hotel
Morning: At leisure
Afternoon: Transfer to Airport to connect flight to Delhi. Upon arrival check in at hotel.
Accommodation: Overnight in Delhi
Meals Included: Breakfast

Day 11: DELHI - KATHMANDU (BY FLIGHT) - CHITWAN

Breakfast: Transfer to Airport to connect morning flight. Breakfast onboard in flight.
Afternoon: Upon arrival in Kathmandu straight drive to Chitwan. Upon arrival the naturalist will host reception, refreshments, briefing about the programs and the lodge/camp facilities. Chitwan is the name not only of Nepal’s most visited national park but also of the surrounding dun valley and administrative district. The city lies in the lowlands of Inner Terai of southern central Nepal on the international border with India and houses one of the most spectacular National Parks in Nepal. Chitwan National Park is brimming with natural vegetation and local culture and has been nicknamed the “Heart of the Jungle”, because of its sublime character. Listed as a World Heritage site Chitwan National Park is high on the list of things to do in Nepal. Previous to being a conservation area Chitwan National park was the Royal hunting grounds for the Kings and dignitaries of Nepal and later became a favorite spot for big game safari hunters in the late nineteenth and early to mid-twentieth century’s.
Accommodation: Overnight in Chitwan
Meals Included: Breakfast and Dinner

Day 12: CHITWAN

Breakfast: At hotel
Full day jungle activities

Our Naturalist would drive you into the core area of Chitwan National Park. Crossing the savannahs and entering into the dense Chitwan, you would get fair chances to spot various birds and animals (can count on Rhinos) in their natural habitat. The forest is quiet and active, and we take care of necessary comfort during your hours of safari.
Accommodation: Overnight in Chitwan
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 13: CHITWAN - KATHMANDU (DRIVE)

It is the site of the Hanuman Dhoka Palace Complex, which was the royal Nepalese residence until the 19th century and where important ceremonies, such as the coronation of the Nepalese monarch still take place. The two-hectare (five-acre) palace complex is divided into two main chowks, or courtyards, and was initially constructed in the 16th century, although subsequent additions were made during the Shah (Gurkha) dynasty in the 18th century and by the Rana rulers in the 19th century.

Dear Praveen & Lavina, We got back safe and sound from our amazing trip. We would like to thank you both for organizing everything so well and providing us such excellent service. We felt totally cared for and looked after from beginning to end. Arriving Delhi in the early morning and beginning the tour around 10:00 a.m. wasn't so bad, as we were excited and eager to get started. The sights and sounds of constant honking in busy traffic was something else. We were met by the representative who went over everything with us. This made us feel looked after and welcomed. The temples, bazaars and spice market was all very interestingwe sneezed a lot! But enjoyed the busy atmosphere and the different way of life. Our most memorable time in Nepal was in Chitwan National Park, riding the elephant and especially giving them a bath in the river and having them playfully splash water on us. Pokhara was also very beautiful with the awesome view of Annapurna from our bedroom window. Varanasi - what can I saysuch a crazy, busy city, lot of noise and people. We found the culture and rituals very interesting. In all we had a delightful time and thanks once again for a splendid itinerary and excellent service. We will be sure to let you know when we're make our next travel plans. Best wishes

Hello, I just wanted to provide you with some feedback on our recent trip. We had a wonderful time. The highlights of our trip were seeing a tiger in Ranthambore National Park and the Taj Mahal as well as the beaches in Pondicherry. We are extremely pleased with the fine work done by Indus. Everything went very smoothly and we were met on time at the various airports even when our internal flights were delayed. The hotels that were used were excellent. We cannot say enough good things about all the guides and drivers. For Delhi-Agra-Ranthambore-Jaipur we had Annapurna. She was very helpful, knowledgeable and accommodated the needs of our group of 8 without complaint. She was very co-operative when we wanted to make minor changes to the itinerary and she made our trip very memorable. In Kathmandu, we had Kamal Prasad Tripathi who was also very pleasant and knowledgable. His English is excellent and his knowledge of Buddhist philosophy made our visit to Kathmandu much richer. We regret that we had such a short time in Nepal and look forward to another trip to that beautiful country. One minor suggestion for future travellers from India to Nepal. You may want to tell them ahead of time that even though a visa can be purchased on arrival in Kathmandu, it would be helpful if they travelled with a couple of passport sized pictures which are needed for the visa. They can be obtained in the airport but the line-up is long. Also, they will have restrictions on the amount of Indian currency they can take into Nepal. We had to reconvert our Indian rupees back to dollars as they do not allow Indian bills of more than Rs 100 into Nepal. Again a couple of minor inconveniences but you may wish to warn future travellers of this. We then landed in Chennai and were met by our guide Jaibeam who was already waiting at the airport. He again spoke excellent English and according to our travelling companion from Quebec, his French was also very good. He is an excellent guide who went out of his way to fulfill our needs. He did hid very best to find us white wine, but alas this does not exist outside of hotels in southern India. Our tour of the temples and monuments of Mammalapuram was very informative, and he chose very good dining spots. It was a pleasure to see southern India with Jaibeam and we would have no hesitation recommending him (or any of our other guides) to anyone else.

Our tour with Indus Travels went very well. We visited Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Colombo, Kandy, and Nuwara Eiliya. The Indus team organized a great trip which allowed us to see many sights, shops, and local culture. Our drivers was always prompt, knowledgeable, courteous and safe. Our guides were knowledgeable and also flexible with regards to time we spent exploring each sight. Having the Indus team check on us every couple days and having the ability to contact the representative assigned to us 24/7 was great as it provided safety and comfort throughout our trip. If I were to do another trip to India I would definitely book with Indus again

We had an amazing time travelling around India and Sri Lanka. Our travel consultant at Indus Travels arranged all of our accommodation, our tour guide and our driver, not to mention our flights and accommodation. Indus Team did a wonderful job making this a trip to remember. The accommodation was amazing, very clean and the staff were very friendly, we did the cultural tour of Sri Lanka and it was incredible to see the diversity of such a small island, we would advise for young travellers to stay somewhere with a little bit more atmosphere in Nuwara Eliya. I will definitely be recommending this Tour to all of our friends and family. We had a very authentic experience of Sri Lanka and we met some amazing people. We saw Taj Mahal, Qutab Minar, Amber Fort, and went to see tea and spice plantation, visited local temples etc. It is such a beautiful place to visit and my friends and I had the trip of a lifetime!
