Itinerary

Day 1: Departure Usa/Canada

Today make your own way to the airport to depart on your overnight flight to India. Enjoy in-flight meals and services

Day 2: Delhi

Accommodation: Overnight in Delhi

The capital of India is a bustling metropolis that successfully combines the ancient and the modern in its folds. Delhi can broadly be divided into two parts, Old Delhi and New Delhi. Old Delhi was the capital of Delhi’s Muslim rulers notably the Mughals between 17th & 19th centuries. New Delhi on the other hand is referred to as the Imperial city when the British decided to move their capital from Calcutta in 1911. On arrival you will be met transferred to the hotel for a non-alcoholic welcome drink.

Day 3: Delhi

Meals: Breakfast

Accommodation: Overnight in Delhi

Morning: Start your day with a visit to Old Delhi. Begin at Jama Masjid, India's largest mosque. Revel in an exhilarating rickshaw ride through the by-lanes of Chandni Chowk (Silver Street). Walk through the old dusty alleyways and other interesting sights! Drive past the mighty and sprawling Red Fort, which was built in 1648 and stands along the river Yamuna. Continue to New Delhi to see the colonial architecture that defined the British era in India. We’ll travel to Qutab Minar complex - the tallest tower in world for centuries, erected by first Islamic rulers of India and still the most imposing, artistically carved and engraved sandstone pillar anywhere!

Afternoon: Culminate this day tour with a visit to a famous Sikh Temple, we go to our last stop Gurudwara Bangla Sahib. Sikhism is a progressive religion (and in many respects, ahead of its time). At Bangla Sahib, you will see how this religion blends practices from Hinduism and Islam into something new. You can watch (and join if you like) the langar, the voluntary group cooking and feeding program at the Gurudwara.

Day 4: Delhi – Agra

(205 Kms / 5 Hrs)

Meals: Breakfast

Accommodation: Overnight in Agra

Morning: This morning drive to Agra, the yesteryear capital of the mighty Mughal Empire and currently home to some of the world’s top tourist sites. Even if the idea of visiting what is arguably the world’s greatest 'monument to love' doesn’t appeal; there's more to see in Agra. Upon arrival transfer to your hotel. This afternoon visit the magnificent Agra Fort, a UNESO World Heritage site built and added to between the 16th and 17th centuries by successive rulers of the Mughal Dynasty. Later visit the Taj Mahal at sunset, one of mankind's greatest architectural feats. Built out of white marble by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his favorite wife, Mumtaz Mahal, it was erected by 20,000 labourers over a 12-year period. The entire monument is a masterpiece of symmetry.

For those interested make a short visit to the “Mother Teresa Home Missionaries of Charity” to meet the nuns at the orphanage who devote their lives to the homeless children of India. Most of the orphans are girls who are more frequently abandoned at birth. The dire poverty of these unwanted children is heartbreaking, and this visit is therefore optional. No one at the missionary will ask you for a cash donation however if you wish to contribute something of value, a simple set of sheets that you pack in your luggage would be greatly appreciated

Day 5: Agra - Bhartpur

(120 Kms / 02 HRS)

Meals: Breakfast

Accommodation: Overnight in Bharatpur

Morning: After a leisurely breakfast depart for Bharatpur – a birder’s paradise, en-route visit Fatehpur Sikri an eerily

abandoned capital from the Mughal Empire between 1570 and 1586. Akbar built this city to celebrate the birth of his son and future heir to the throne, Emperor Jahangir. While Akbar is believed to have been illiterate, he took great interest in the arts and architecture; Fatehpur Sikri is one of his masterworks. Sadly, it served as capital for little more than a decade, eventually abandoned for lack of accessible water.  Afterwards continue to Bharatpur. Upon arrival; check in to your hotel.

Afternoon: Enjoy at leisure or go on the following optional tour.

Optional: Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary tour by bicycle/paddle rickshaws-USD 30/CAD 40 per person

Enjoy an escorted visit to Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary by bicycle/ paddle rickshaws. Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary is one of the finest bird parks in the world; Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary (Keoladeo Ghana National Park) is a reserve that offers protection to faunal species as well. Nesting indigenous water- birds as well as migratory water birds and waterside birds, this sanctuary is also inhabited by Sambar, Chital, Nilgai and Boar.

Day 6: Bharatpur – Jaipur

(180 KMS / 04 HRS)

Meals: Breakfast

Accommodation: Overnight in Jaipur

Morning: This morning drive to Jaipur "the City of Victory" was first intended to be "Sawai Jaipur" after the boy Prince who commissioned it - Maharaja Jai Singh II - a warrior, astronomer and politician who reigned over the Mughals from 1699 to 1743. Today's Jaipur is pink, visually described as the city shaded with the autumn colors of a sunset. On arrival, check into the hotel.

Afternoon: Enjoy an orientation tour of the city. Begin with a photo-stop at the Hawa Mahal often called the Palace of Winds and is a striking landmark. Built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh specifically for the women in the royal family, this building allowed them to watch the city’s processions through tiny, latticed windows and balconies without ever being seen. Next visit the Jantar Mantar Observatory, a UNESCO World heritage site. It’s a stone astrological and astronomical Observatory built by Maharaja Jai Singh in the 18th century. Continue on to the City Palace Museum, home to a priceless collection of antiques, costumes and armory of the Mughals and Rajputs. It also has an art gallery that displays a collection of miniature paintings, carpets, royal paraphernalia and rare astronomical works in Arabic, Persian, Latin and Sanskrit.

Dinner: Authentic Rajasthani dinner

Day 7:    Jaipur

Meals: Breakfast

Accommodation: Overnight in Jaipur

Morning: This morning visit Amber Fort. Located approximately 11km outside Jaipur, this majestic monument was created using elements of both Hindu and Islamic architecture and design. Murals, frescos and paintings depict daily life of a bygone era on walls also etched with carvings and decorated with mosaics and mirror work. Afterwards pay a visit to the Galta Ji Temple a large Hindu temple complex that lies 10km to the east of Jaipur. These temples are a popular tourist attraction as they are home to a large colony of monkeys and this has given rise to the common name of the complex, the monkey temple. Galta Ji Jaipur is a unique Hindu temple as it is centred around a natural spring that has been channeled to fill seven large pools. In these pools pilgrims come to bath away their sins while, at quiet moments, the playful monkeys can be found swimming in the holy waters.

The old buildings on the site were destroyed by Moslem invaders in the 14th century, its stone linga smashed to dust, but it rose again behind their retreating backs. Krishna Mandir which is one of the grandeur of the squares was built in 1637 by the King Siddhinarsingh Malla. The Golden Temple which is the unique Buddhist Monastery was founded in the 12th century which is a large rectangular building with three roofs and a copper gilded facade with the images of Buddha and Avalokitesvara on the walls. Day 11: Kathmandu – Abu Dhabi (Flight)

Meals: Breakfast

Accommodation: Overnight in Abu Dhabi

Early Morning: Optional: Everest Mountain Flight - USD 295/CAD 400 Per Person

Enjoy an early morning Mount Everest over flight. [This flight only operates when the weather is good and viewing will be satisfactory]. For every Nepal visitor, the Himalayan range awes and fascinates. Each and every one coming to Nepal expects not only to see the Himalayas but also to reach as near as possible. One of the biggest attractions for visitors to Nepal is the Mountain Flight. For those who are restricted by time or other constraints mountain flights offer the alternative to climbing and ensure a lasting memory of the highest peaks on earth. The flight takes off from Kathmandu Airport to Everest. Following your take off for an hour’s flight, the first mountain seen is Langtang at 7234 m. The valley of Langtang, which is not visible from the plane, is considered to be the most beautiful in the Himalayan region, then Gosainthan (8013m): the mountain lies on the Nepal – Tibetan border. The Tibetan name for this mountain is Shisapangma. She is related with many Hindu Mythologies especially of Shiva, next the Dorje Lakpa (6975m): this mountain has a Tibetan name, which means “the mountains of many sacred Thunderbolts”. This mountain is considered a holy mountain for Buddhists. The Gauri–Sanker (7134m): this single mountain has two peaks and has two names because the Hindus believe that the mountain looks like the Gods Shiva and Gouri. This holy mountain was restricted to climbers until 1977. It was only in 1979 that an American/Nepalese group reached the summit, Lhotse: (8516m): this mountain lies to the south of Everest; the name given by the Sherpas is Lhotse, which means “South Peak”. The first ascent of this mountain took place in 1956 by the Swiss and finally Mount Everest (8848m): Everest was discovered in 1852 and is the highest mountain in the world. It is named after Sir George Everest an English surveyor. Sagarmatha “top of the universe” is the name giver by the Nepalese which means, “Mother of the world” and Chomolongma in Tibetan. Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgey, his Sherpa were the first to climb Everest on May 25, 1953, as a coronation gift to Queen Elizabeth II. After the flight return to the hotel with Breakfast

Morning:  Visit Swayambhunath the golden spire of the 5th-century. Swayambhu stupa is adorned with a colourful fluttering of prayer flags; it crowns a hill overlooking the Kathmandu Valley and offers fantastic views over the city of Kathmandu. Swayambhunath is one of the most recognizable symbols in Nepal and the painted eyes of Buddha watch all who ascend the worn stone steps. It is a World Heritage Site and one of the holiest Buddhist sites in Nepal, and is at the source of the Valley’s mythical beginning. Legend has it that the history of the Valley began with the draining of an ancient lake by an Enlightened Being to reveal the Valley and a lotus flower was transformed into the hill and the shining light became the stupa itself. Swarms of pilgrims and red-clad monks circle the complex, spinning the prayer wheels, while the scores of monkeys that give the temple its nickname, Monkey Temple, prance about in irreverent groups. Interestingly the temple complex is scattered with shrines and statues of Buddhist and Hindu deities and the assortment of pilgrims from both faiths characterizes the country’s unique religious harmony.

Afternoon: You will be transferred to Kathmandu International airport for a flight to Abu Dhabi.

Evening: On arrival at Abu Dhabi International Airport you will be met and transferred to the hotel.

Our tour with Indus Travels went very well. We visited Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Colombo, Kandy, and Nuwara Eiliya. The Indus team organized a great trip which allowed us to see many sights, shops, and local culture. Our drivers was always prompt, knowledgeable, courteous and safe. Our guides were knowledgeable and also flexible with regards to time we spent exploring each sight. Having the Indus team check on us every couple days and having the ability to contact the representative assigned to us 24/7 was great as it provided safety and comfort throughout our trip. If I were to do another trip to India I would definitely book with Indus again

We had an amazing time travelling around India and Sri Lanka. Our travel consultant at Indus Travels arranged all of our accommodation, our tour guide and our driver, not to mention our flights and accommodation. Indus Team did a wonderful job making this a trip to remember. The accommodation was amazing, very clean and the staff were very friendly, we did the cultural tour of Sri Lanka and it was incredible to see the diversity of such a small island, we would advise for young travellers to stay somewhere with a little bit more atmosphere in Nuwara Eliya. I will definitely be recommending this Tour to all of our friends and family. We had a very authentic experience of Sri Lanka and we met some amazing people. We saw Taj Mahal, Qutab Minar, Amber Fort, and went to see tea and spice plantation, visited local temples etc. It is such a beautiful place to visit and my friends and I had the trip of a lifetime!

I recently booked the best of Peru with Indus and had a fabulous time! It was our first time in South America so I was unsure but our Indus consultant told us great things about Peru and oh! was she right! Me and my friend both loved Miraflores in Lima- it felt very safe to walk around the city. But my favorite part of the trip was Sacred Valley where we got to stay in a very peaceful hotel with a stunning view of the mountains- simply incredible! Although at first I though the itinerary will be hectic, the tour was actually very pleasant with some time to visit on your own or relax- needed with the bit of jetlag! I came back very happy with both Indus service and the tour and I would recommend you 100% to book your tour with Indus- I am looking already at my next holiday with them. I have not taken Peru, Argentina and Brazil but if it is half as good as our Peruvian tour then you are bound to have a great trip!
