Short Description

This luxury trip has been designed to provide the best of Tanzania and to give you a complete Tanzanian experience with the comfort of top of the line intimate accommodations. The itinerary is also designed to put you in the best locations to view wildebeest migration in the famous Mara River area. The best time to see it is during the August-October time period. This is one of the most stunning wildlife spectacles anywhere. It is nature at its most raw.

Finally we have also included a chance to explore the mystery and romance of Zanzibar from the highly sculpted Zanzibar doors to the hidden corners of Stonetown and then to one of Zanzibar’s pristine beautiful beaches and warm clear ocean waters.

Private tours give you the undivided attention of a guide, and often involve special access to sites and unique experiences not available to larger groups. This is a great option for families, couples, and small friend groups. Expect to pay a bit more for the extra service.

Itinerary

Day 1:

On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport in Arusha, Infinite Safari Adventures representatives will meet you and take you to Rivertrees Country Inn, a wonderful converted old coffee farm a half hour from the airport. This beautiful resort was the former home of the lodge owner (who is related to the Von Trapp family). There is a pool as well as pleasant grounds to walk around, monkeys in the trees and massage and Wi-Fi facilities.

Day 2:

After a leisurely breakfast on the terrace, drive to Tarangire National Park four hours away and stay at Oliver’s Luxury Tented Camp. Once you stay here you will not want to leave. This camp has huge multi-room tents, en suite bathrooms and a dining tent set squarely in the bush. This camp was built with love and sweat by the famous Tanzania guide Paul Oliver and still has his love of the bush stamped all over it. There is still the hallmark of excellent guiding for the night game drives and bush walks (one of only a few places allowed to undertake walks in big game country). As you drift off to sleep you may hear the sounds of lions nearby.

Day 3:

Spend another day at Oliver’s Camp exploring Tarangire. Have great wildlife sightings as they are attracted to the Tarangire River. It has the second highest density of elephants in Africa and possibly the best lion and leopard opportunities in Tanzania. You can even have the option of taking a walking safari and night drive while there.

Day 4:

Leave Tarangire and head up the Great African Rift Valley. Continue on up into the cloud forest of the Ngorongoro Highlands to stay at one of several luxury accommodations near the rim of the Crater. Along the way you can visit the Maasai village of Mto Wa Mbu. Here you will visit small villages, a Maasai boma (corral), see the Maasai tend their cattle, while nearby another tribe works their shamba (small scale village farm). You will visit the market, maybe a school and participate in other cultural activities.

Day 5:

Today you will descend into the Ngorongoro Crater floor for a game drive in one of the mostly densely packed wildlife areas in the world. Ngorongoro Crater is a collapsed volcano (a caldera) that formed about 2-3 million years ago. Measuring just 100 square miles on the floor it also boasts one of the densest population of lions in the area. At the end of the day, ascend the rim again and stay at a luxury lodge on the rim.

Day 6:

Today you will say goodbye to your guide who you will feel has become like a family member and take a flight to the northern Serengeti. There are several luxury camps here all providing the perfect location to explore and see the Great Migration.

Day 7 & 8:

Continue to Explore the Serengeti for the next 2 days. You will be in a remote area that few people have the chance to explore. Your guide from your lodge has great knowledge of the area and will continue to enlighten you on wildlife and how everything fits together in the "circle of life."

Day 9:

Take a light aircraft and fly over the Serengeti to the historic island of Zanzibar. A taxi will take you the short drive into the heart of old Stonetown where you will stay at Kisiwa House, a converted merchant’s house, dripping with history and character. Spend the afternoon exploring the intrigues of Stonetown on a guided walking tour we will provide for you.

Day 10:

You will leave Stonetown and head up the coast for a few days at one of Zanzibar’s wonderful beaches. On the way we will arrange a spice tour for you. There are several accommodation options but the one we prefer is the elegant Unguja Lodge (FB). Comprised of special self-contained "cottages" each has its own private terrace overlooking Menai Bay. It is the perfect setting for a couple of days to relax and savor your African experience.

Day 11:

Spend another day at Unguja Lodge (FB). You can swim, snorkel, take a sunset dhow cruise or just do nothing at all.

Day 12:

Spend another day at Unguja Lodge (FB). Take a final stroll along the beach and savor all that you have done, all that you have seen, the people you have met and the memories you have that will last a lifetime.

Day 13:

Today you will be transferred back to the airport at Stonetown for an internal flight to Dar Es Salaam and your international flight home.

We met Alan at the Chicago Travel and Adventure Show many months ago when we were starting to think about booking a trip to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. He was very knowledgable and encouraging about our ability to accomplish the trek. We did end up booking our trip through Infinite Safaris and Alan was incredibly responsive the whole time after we booked and before we left - he addressed all of my questions and concerns quickly and thoroughly.

From when we arrived in Africa to when we left we felt so well cared for by all the staff and drivers on the ground. All of our logistics went smoothly. Our hotel accommodations were comfortable and charming. The food across the board was wonderful.

Our experience on the mountain was a highlight of our lives. We trusted our guide and staff completely and they took such good care of us. The food was plentiful and good - even with our low appetites due to the altitude. We were lucky with good weather for our climb, but really it was our guides Julius and Oforo and the porters and cook that made our experience comfortable and positive. Julius was encouraging, kind, and fun to be around. We realized our dream of summiting the mountain with their help.

The hotel on Zanzibar was really unique and wonderful - it was a real treat after the physical challenge of the mountain.

Our experience could not have been better, and we would recommend Infinite Safari Adventures for travel in Africa without hesitation.

We got the best service, meet wonderful people, and stayed at amazing places

Alan is top notch. He is organized, informed, and will take his time to put together a trip that YOU want to go on. He does not offer cookie cutter trips. Alan and I had a nice in-person chat, about our budget and all the different places that my Dad and I wanted to visit. After the meeting, Alan put together an itinerary and my Dad and I got the trip of a lifetime.

My trip was focused on southern Africa. We went to Victoria Falls and stayed at a beautiful lodge. I even got to swim in the Angel's Pool by the edge of the Falls! We then went to Namibia to visit Cheetah Conservation Fund where Alan is a Trustee! It was amazing to see the conservation work and meet Dr. Laurie Marker. We then went to Sabi Sands (next to Kruger) and stayed at two gorgeous lodges. We saw 5 leopards, 2 lion prides, experienced a hippo charging at our vehicle, watched countless elephants, impalas, kudu, buffalo and even baby rhinos. The wildlife viewing at Sabi Sands was amazing. We ended our trip in Cape Town where Alan organized a wonderful 4 day tour (Robben Island, Table Mountain, Cape of Good Hope & Wine Country) staying at the wonderful Waterfront. We felt safe and taken care of every step of the way. We experienced zero mishaps and got all the important information in our hands before we left for the trip.

Pricing: I would say you get what you pay for. Why fly so far and not get the best trip that you can get? Alan's services are well worth it because he does not cut corners and he selects really great ground operators and hotels/lodges for us. He is always there to answer questions/provide information/squash trip jitters and so are his local contacts.

I honestly cannot recommend Alan enough. He helped my Dad and myself experience South Africa together. We got the best service, meet wonderful people, and stayed at amazing places. Everything was organized and taken care of. We had an absolutely marvelous time. Thank you for giving us our trip of a lifetime!

Deb and I had the very best experiences in Namibia thanks to Alan. Alan is a travelers travel pro, someone you want in your back pocket. He is so well connected and passionate about all things Africa, but what really counts is his ability to tailor the trip to how we love to travel no matter where in the world you want to go. We have referred Alan to friends who have been very happy booking their vacations through Infinite Safari Adventures.

Alan worked with us one-on-one to design a trip that was exactly right for us. He really listened - to get to know us, to find out what we were looking for and hoping for, to learn what had worked or not worked for us in our previous travels, and to understand our priorities. We ended up with an experience...
