Thailand Cambodia Trip. Nov 2017. For my 60th birthday I decided I wanted to take my family of 6 to Thailand and Cambodia. After my initial conversation with the Intrepid office, they pulled together a perfect 24 day custom itinerary for us. My Intrepid coordinator really listened. We set up a incredibly diverse trip, ranging from ocean front resorts to a primitive hillside village trek. From the minute we landed in Bangkok, to the day we flew home, all transfers went off with out a hitch. What really made our trip memorable was our local guides. Every single one of them were warm, professional, humorous but most importantly, had a deep knowledge of the geography, the plant life, dining, the history and government. We felt by the end of the trip, these guides had become a part of our family. The entire trip was amazing and we will definitely use Intrepid for our next adventure travel. Thanks so much.

My husband and I traveled along the coast of Vietnam with Intrepid. This trip is one of the highlights of my life - we were able to authentically experience the different cities and towns, the food, the culture, and the beauty of Vietnam. Through Intrepid, we were able to get access to off-the-beaten path places, such as taking a 3 hr moped tour through the Vietnamese countryside not accessible by car or bus. Lodging was basic and clean, a great value for travelers on a budget, however if you are looking to be pampered, this is not the tour package for you. The highlight of this trip was our tour guide, Sonny. He was so knowledgeable and passionate about showing us his home land. We got along so well with the other travelers on our trip from the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand - five years later, we are still in touch!

Pretty amazing way to travel to all the islands in Phang Nga Bay! We set sail from Phuket and traveled from island to island on our own sailboat. The captain was very experienced with many years sailing between the islands and his wife was an amazing cook. Some of the best meals I had in Thailand were on this boat! We were able to go to places that most tourists don't get to see and the places that were touristic were were able to go at off times and have the place to ourselves. Quarters were a little cramped however we spent little time in bed. Most of the time was spent swimming, sunning and exploring. Even spent a couple of starry nights sleeping out out on the deck. Really an amazing experience with Intrepid Travel. Next tour... Sailing in Myanmar!!

Overall, the trip was excellent. This was my first time with Intrepid but I have taken several similar trips (Tucan). The tour leader (Kris) was excellent and the activities were a good balance._x000D_

One aspect - I've noticed a sharp shift in the demographic of group towards older travellers. I suspect this is but one side effect of wider economic conditions. While the individuals in our group were fine, I do worry that in future this could lead to a watering down of the experience. It is very important, that the "Original" trips are an adventure travel product. While of course, economic circumstances may lead to fewer of these trips and more trips specifically targeting older/less active/less change-averse groups, these should be differently labelled rather than diluting the "original" experience._x000D_

Another minor oddity is that I received an itinerary adjustment 2 weeks before departure which turned out to be incorrect. Kris hadn't heard about the adjustment so was a bit puzzled people asked her about it (see comment about risk-averse old people above). No big deal but might have been nice to get another mail from HQ.
