Day 1: April 23, 2018: Arrival into Tel Aviv

Meals: Dinner

Arrive at Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion International Airport and take the group transfer to Jerusalem. Check into the hotel.  Enjoy some time to relax at the hotel and recover from your long flight before our cocktail reception and welcome dinner this evening at the hotel. Hotel: Kibbutz Hotel Ramat Rachel, Jerusalem

Day 2: April 24, 2018: Exploring Jerusalem’s History

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Eat breakfast at the hotel  Depart for Jerusalem’s Old City to explore some of the most important sites in the three major monotheistic religions. Begin with a visit to the Temple Mount, capped by the shining cupola of the Dome of the Rock. Meet a religious leader at Al-Aqsa Mosque, also on Temple Mount, and learn the importance of these two sites to Muslims. Visit the Western Wall, and touch the ancient stones and explore the reasons why this is the most sacred site in Judaism. Continuing west within the Old City along the Via Dolorosa, a local pastor will join the group at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, home to six Christian sects and, according to tradition, the tomb of Jesus.  At lunch, meet with a rabbi to learn more about Judaism and Jerusalem’s importance in the religion.  Head back into the Old City and complete our explorations by exploring the Armenian and Jewish Quarters.  Have dinner at the hotel Hotel: Kibbutz Hotel Ramat Rachel, Jerusalem (B, L, D)

Day 3: Wednesday, April 25, 2018: Yad Vashem and Mt. Herzl

Meals: Breakfast and Dinner

Eat breakfast at the hotel  Today, trace the birth of the state of Israel. Begin at Yad Vashem, Israel’s memorial to the Holocaust. Meet with a Holocaust survivor who provides their incredibly personal and moving story like no other can. Afterwards, have time to explore the museum on your own.  This afternoon, visit the village of Ein Kerem, a beautiful place known in Christian tradition as the birthplace of John the Baptist. Take a walking tour of the village, learning more about the village’s history, including divergent narratives by our Israeli and Palestinian guides about its role in the war of 1948.  Continue to Mt. Herzl, and meet with a former Israeli soldier, learn about the birth of Zionism  This evening, enjoy dinner with a Palestinian family and take in a private performance by a mixed band of Israeli and Palestinian musicians. Day 4: April 26, 2018: Bethlehem and Herodian

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Eat breakfast at the hotel  Begin the day with a meeting with an Israeli speaker, who talks with us about the political situation in Israel.  Next, head for Herodian, a key archaeological site believed to be the site where Herod the Great was buried.  Heading for Bethlehem, meet with a Christian leader over lunch before making our way to the Church of the Nativity, known as one of the oldest standing churches in the world and the site of the birth of Jesus.  Before leaving Bethlehem, visit a Palestinian refugee camp, meeting with a local speaker who discusses the realities of life in the camp.  Return to the hotel to relax before meeting up again as a group for dinner at the hotel. We will be joined by a representative from a local peace organization, to discuss the continuing political challenges and the work that is being done towards a peaceful resolution. Day 5: April 27, 2018: Israel Museum and Machane Yehuda Market

Meals: Breakfast and Dinner

Eat breakfast at the hotel.  This morning, head out first thing for the Mount of Olives. There is arguably no better vantage point of the Old City from the Mount of Olives, especially in the morning when the light casts onto Al Aqsa and the many important sites in such close proximity.  Afterwards, head for the Israel Museum, where we view the Holyland Model of Jerusalem during the Second Temple Period. Explore the museum’s archeological and art exhibits, as well as the most famous artifacts on hand, the Dead Sea scrolls.  For lunch today, head to one of west Jerusalem’s most well-known landmarks, the Machane Yehuda Market. Have lunch on your own. After lunch, explore the nearby Nachlaot neighborhood, featuring many winding passageways, hidden courtyards and numerous small synagogues.  This evening, experience Shabbat of a Lifetime, where we take in a traditional Shabbat dinner with a local Jewish family. Day 6: Saturday, April 28, 2018: Shilo and Ramallah

Meals: Breakfast and Dinner

Eat breakfast at the hotel.  Check out of the hotel this morning and head for the West Bank. Start the day with a visit at Shiloh, known as the site where the ark of the covenant once resided. Take a tour of this town and meet with a representative of the settlement movement.  Afterward, head for Ramallah, capital of the Palestinian territories, and enjoy lunch on your own. Meet a local resident and tour the city before continuing on towards the Dead Sea.  Before dinner, meet with a local kibbutz resident. Tonight, enjoy dinner the hotel with the group. Hotel: Ein Gedi Hotel, Dead Sea

Day 7: April 29, 2018: Masada and the Dead Sea

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Eat breakfast at the hotel.  Head out from the Dead Sea and towards Masada, one of Israel’s most famous sites. Take the gondola up the flanks and explore this 2,000 year old mountaintop refuge, home to King Herod.  Then head up the Jordan Valley north to the Roman city of Bet She’an, taking in its preserved amphitheater, baths and column-lined streets. On the way, stop to dip our feet in the Jordan River, where Christian pilgrims come to be baptized.  Have dinner at the hotel this evening. Hotel: Hagoshrim Hotel, Sea of Galilee

Day 8: April 30, 2018: Carmel and Tiberias

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Eat breakfast at the hotel.  This morning, head north towards the city of Zfat, one of the four holiest cities in Israel known for Kabala. There, meet with a local who teaches about Kabala and the city.  This afternoon, visit the Druze village of Beit Jann, located on Mount Meron in Northern Israel. Meet with a Druze family over lunch and learn about their religion and relationship with the state of Israel.  Afterwards, visit to the archaeological park of Tel Dan, a beautiful national park. Here, the tribe of Dan settled, appreciating the area’s natural fertility thanks to its location on Mount Lebanon and the run off that largely supplies the Jordan River below.  This evening, have dinner at the hotel. Day 9: May 1, 2018: Capernaum & Caesarea

Meals: Breakfast and Lunch

Eat breakfast at the hotel. This morning, explore Capernaum, a village where Jesus taught and which served as the center of his ministry in Galilee.  Leaving the Sea of Galilee behind, head for Jesus’ early home of Nazareth, visiting its famous Basilica of the Annunciation, one of the largest churches in the Middle East. Have an included group lunch in Nazareth.  After lunch, continue to the Mediterranean coast and Caesarea Maritima, an ancient city and harbor built during the time of Herod. Now an Israeli National Park, the site is famous for its Roman and Byzantine ruins and stunning views out on the water.  End the day in the bustling town of Tel Aviv. Dinner tonight is on your own to sample from the many offerings on offer in close proximity to our hotel. Hotel: Market House Hotel, Tel Aviv

Day 10: May 2, 2018: Tel Aviv and Jaffa

Meals: Breakfast and Dinner

Eat breakfast at the hotel.  Explore the picturesque old town of Jaffa this morning, a strategic port dating back to the Bronze Age. Wander its ancient alleyways, barter with the street vendors, and choose from some of Tel Aviv’s best local cuisine for lunch on your own.  After lunch, the tour continues into more recent sections of Tel Aviv, ending at Kikar Rabin, or Rabin Square. Learn about Yitzhak Rabin and his impact on Israel. The rest of the afternoon is yours to explore or relax as you desire.  This evening, meet for a celebratory farewell dinner and toast to our adventures. Hotel: Market House Hotel, Tel Aviv

Day 11: May 3, 2018: Departure

After breakfast this morning, head for the Ben Gurion International Airport and flights home.
