Short Description

Dreaming of detailed ancient temples, bustling cities, and exotic bays lined with mysterious caves and floating villages? We are, too. Let us show you the splendor of Southeast Asia on this 13-day itinerary. With hotel accommodations, private guided sightseeing, and daily breakfast coordinated for you, Monograms makes your dream Southeast Asia adventure simple! Plus, we provide you with a Local Host® who can provide suggestions about what to see and do during your stay.

Your vacation begins when you arrive in Hanoi. If you wish, we can transfer you seamlessly from the airport to your hotel. Your Local Host will greet you and provide you with details to help you navigate the city. The next morning, after included breakfast, you will take a private guided tour, stopping at all of Hanoi’s must-see sites. You will explore the Old Quarter by electric car, visit the One Pillar Pagoda, and tour the Ho Chi Minh Museum, Presidential Palace, and Temple of Literature.

The next day, take a private transfer through the countryside to Ha Long Bay, a breathtaking UNESCO World Heritage Site that is dotted with more than 3,000 limestone islands. Upon your arrival, you will board an overnight cruise that will take you to explore the beaches, caves, and floating villages scattered throughout the bay. You may also choose to enjoy a traditional Vietnamese cooking demonstration while on board. You will disembark the following day to catch your flight from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City.

Once in Ho Chi Minh, you will take a private guided walking tour, strolling along Dong Khoi Street to see the Central Post Office and Notre Dame Cathedral. You will also visit the moving War Remnants Museum and experience the Ben Thanh Market, the largest and oldest market in the city. This afternoon, explore on your own! On your second day in Ho Chi Minh, discover more than 120 miles of underground tunnels. These Cu Chi Tunnels were used by the Viet Cong as a hideout during the war.

Then, you will fly from Ho Chi Minh to Siem Reap in neighboring Cambodia for private guided sightseeing that introduces you to some of the world’s most incredible ancient ruins: the fantastically preserved Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom’s Bayon Temple with its carved face images, the red sandstone Banteay Srei, and untouched Ta Prohm, where trunks and roots of massive trees can be seen growing over, around, and through the ruins.

Your trip concludes with two days in Bangkok. Take a private guided tour including the Temple of the Dawn, whose 260-foot-tall spire has become identified with Bangkok; the Grand Palace; the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, painstakingly carved from a single block of jade; and the Temple of the Reclining Buddha, the oldest and largest Buddhist temple in Bangkok. Wait until you see the 49-foot-high and 151-foot-long massive Reclining Buddha! We’ve also included a boat ride through the klongs, Bangkok’s canals, where you will see family homes, temples, and the local way of life.

Monograms has assembled the best of Southeast Asia for you, so that all you have to do is remember your camera!

Day 3

HANOI–HA LONG BAY CRUISE. Your private transfer takes you from Hanoi through the fertile countryside to Hon Gai, gateway to Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Located in the Gulf of Tonkin, the bay is dotted with more than 3,000 limestone islands carved into fanciful shapes by the action of the water. Upon arrival, board an OVERNIGHT CRUISE that takes you to explore the tunnels, caves, pristine beaches, and floating villages that are sprinkled across the bay. While on board, enjoy a TRADITIONAL VIETNAMESE COOKING DEMONSTRATION with the ship’s chef. You may also choose to relax with a spa treatment. (B,L,D)

Day 4

HA LONG BAY CRUISE–HANOI–HO CHI MINH CITY. Early birds can participate in a TAI CHI DEMONSTRATION on the Sun Deck at the break of dawn. Disembark later this morning for a private transfer to Hanoi to catch a flight to Ho Chi Minh City, still known as Saigon to many. (B)

Day 5

HO CHI MINH CITY. Start your PRIVATE GUIDED SIGHTSEEING with a WALKING TOUR of the city’s famous and historic landmarks as you stroll through the heart of the city along Dong Khoi Street (formerly Rue Catinat) past the Rex Hotel, Ho Chi Minh Square, the Municipal Theatre, Central Post Office, and Notre Dame Cathedral. Next, visit the moving WAR REMNANTS MUSEUM, followed by bustling BEN THANH MARKET, the largest and oldest in the city. The afternoon is at your leisure to explore this lively city. (B)

Day 7

HO CHI MINH CITY–SIEM REAP, CAMBODIA. A short flight brings you to Siem Reap, your base for exploring the temples of Angkor. Constructed between the 9th and 13th centuries, the temples are unmatched among the world’s ancient ruins. (B)

Day 8

SIEM REAP. Your PRIVATE GUIDED SIGHTSEEING starts at the best preserved of all the temples—ANGKOR WAT, which honors the Hindu god Vishnu. Next stop is ANGKOR THOM to see BAYON TEMPLE. One of the few Buddhist temples in Angkor, it features some 200 striking faces carved in 54 towers. Enjoy the afternoon at leisure. (B,L)

Day 9

SIEM REAP. This morning, explore more of the Angkor temple complex on a PRIVATE GUIDED TOUR. Visit BANTEAY SREI, a unique, small temple built from red sandstone and dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva. Italy Monograms Trip

Hands down this was the smoothest any vacation, local or abroad, has gone for me. Monograms did not miss a thing, from the nice hotels to the friendly local hosts. We would have missed so much had we booked a trip by ourselves. The local guides were also top notch, with a clear high reputation among their colleagues and in the city with which they live. With that, we felt like royalty with drivers picking us up in a Mercedes each time. The whole trip was professional, information and enjoyable. Monograms has my business moving forward.

We had a great time all around--it was excellent to have all of the arrangement made ahead of time and take some of the hassles out of travel.
We got a great deal--that was in part driven by super low air fare--which included a long layover--long enough to be a pain and screw up the first day, short enough that we couldn't go to town (Dublin) and make the best of it. Of course we could have paid more and gotten a direct flight but part of the appeal of the offer was the amazingly low cost. Hindsight, we'd have done the deal and paid the extra$.

We are very well traveled and have taken many group and private tours so can speak with confidence when we express our sincere satisfaction with our Monograms tour. The guides/drivers/accommodations were gracious, professional, knowledgeable and informative. Everything went very smoothly and our experience was wonderful. Highly recommend the Miramar Windsor Hotel in Rio, Belmond Cataratas in Iguassu and Hangaroa Eco Lodge in Easter Island-they were outstanding and restaurant food was excellent.
