As we are back from Africa we keep thinking about the great time we had in the Safari organized by Eliya, the owner of Natureboundafrica. The guide we had, Mike, was absolutely great, knows every path, every animal and a lovely character. Thank you for making the trip so fabulous !! I planned this once in a lifetime Tanzanian Safari for my family and booked Nature Bound based on positive reviews and very attentive and prompt service during the process of requesting quotes and itinerary suggestions by Iliya who was excellent. We adored our guide Bushe who was energetic, warm, flexible and very informative about the places, people and animals we...

As a couple of newlyweds from NYC, we couldn't have been happier with our experience on safari with Nature Bound Africa. I was skeptical about booking essentially sight unseen for such a large purchase, but Eliya put our minds at ease from the start. He was always very communicative and helpful throughout the booking process.

The Eliya that we met at the JRO airport when we arrived was just the same as his emails — friendly, thoughtful, helpful, and fun. He made us feel welcome and at ease, making sure every detail was taken care of. For example, he helped us arrange a local SIM for our phone when we arrived so we could WhatsApp from the Serengeti. :)

We took over 3000 pictures while on safari and hours of video. :) We saw each of the "big five" and so much more. Being within ten feet of a resting lioness and a family of elephants is something I won't soon forget. :) The itinerary was perfect and it was really a once in a lifetime experience that we will cherish.

The level of service exceeded our expectations. For example, we had an issue with one of the tented camps in the Seregenti and told Eliya about it — essentially the smoke from nearby ranger burns was affecting my husband's asthma. Eliya immediately booked us accommodations at another tented camp location at no charge, and followed up to make 100% sure we were comfortable and happy. We ended up loving it so much we didn't want to leave!

Another example of the level of service: as mentioned, we were celebrating our one year anniversary while in the Serengeti. Unbeknownst to us, Eliya had contacted the staff at the tented camp ahead of time and let them know to give us a special anniversary surprise. We were shocked when during dinner the staff came out with a huge cake and candles, and sang to us while banging pots and pans and dancing. It was so hilarious and surprising, and a truly amazing memory — all thanks to Eliya!

Final example of the level of service and comfort was how comfortable we felt leaving some valuables in a duffle bag with Nature Bound Africa when we went to Zanzibar for a week after the safari. We had no hesitation about leaving our belongings in their care and when we picked them up everything was intact and absolutely fine.

As for accommodations, you can decide exactly which locations you prefer and let Eliya know your preferences, or leave it to him to decide along with some general guidance of your preferences. We absolutely loved the Bouganvilla Lodge (and its sister lodge, the Country Lodge, near Lake Mayanara), the "Makuma 5" Kati Kati Tented Camp (Serengeti), and The African Tulip (Arusha). Also good was the Karama Lodge (Arusha) and the Outpost Lodge (Arusha).

At the end of the day, Nature Bound Africa is a small but well-established local company that creates bespoke experiences for a great price and supports the local community. In a country where the primary industry is tourism, it was really important to me that we support small businesses and not book with a large, impersonal international company that takes money out of the community. The owner, Eilya, has lived in the community all his life and he is well-known and respected. For example, one day he took us into Arusha town to visit the local market and he was stopped about every five minutes by someone who knew him and wanted to say hello. We think that says something about a person and small business owner when they are so well known and respected in their community. When Eliya dropped us off at the airport for our departure we felt like we were saying good-bye to a dear friend. When, not if, we go back to Tanzania we will be reaching out to Eliya and Nature Bound Africa first thing. :)

Eliya is an exceptional tour operator, who goes above and beyond to ensure that you have the trip of a lifetime. Throughout my time in Tanzania, Eliya continuously made my mother and I his priority, by providing transportation for us to and from our desired destinations. He even went so far as to accompany us to the FastJet office to arrange for our respective flights to Zanzibar. Being a local, Eliya knows the ins and outs of both Arusha Town and Moshi, and therefore can provide you with any and all information that you may require for your trip! My time spent in Tanzania would not have been the same without Eliya's guidance and friendship and I can't say enough good things about how he takes care of his clients. Wishing you all the best Eliya!! Until next time
