Itinerary

Day 1 - Dublin - Local Flavor

Local Flavor. Once we board the bus, your guide will introduce himself and you'll head north west out of Dublin towards north Mayo. Our first stop will be at Foxford Woollen Mills. The Woollen Mills is a great place to stop with lots of Irish arts and crafts, a coffee shop, and sits in beautiful Foxford village.Sightseeing. We will pass between two lakes just outside the village: Lake Cullin and and Lake Conn, the larger of the two with Mount Nephin in the foreground makes for a spectacular view.Archaeological Exploration at Céide Fields. We will make a stop at Black Head which is a cliff range that looks out on to the North Atlantic. You'll appreciate the fresh sea breeze after your drive. On then to Ceide Fields, which is the most extensive Stone Age site in the world and contains the oldest known field systems in the world. Overnight : Belmullet

Day 2 - Dublin - Hiking at Inishkea Islands

Hiking at Inishkea Islands. You will wake up in a wild place and after breakfast, we will explore this wonderful peninsula and some of the islands around it. First, we will take you to the small but long island of Inishkea for a hike. When we get back to the boat, we will take a cliff walk along the brilliant sea cliffs in the north of the peninsula. After your day out, you'll feel refreshed so look forward to a nice relaxing evening with a meal and maybe a pint or two to send you off to sleep! Overnight: Belmullet

Day 3 - Dublin - Sightseeing at Ballycroy National Park

Sightseeing at Ballycroy National Park. Today we will take you to the Ballycroy National Park Visitors Center. Ballycroy is a protected area of bog land which stretches out into Tullaghan Bay. The visitors center will tell you the history of the area and how important the turf bogs have been to generations down the years. We then cross the small bridge which takes us to Achill Island, your home for the night.Nature Walks at Achill Island. Once we get checked into the accommodation, we will take you on a walk up Croaghaun. At the top, you will see amazing sea cliffs. Experience the might of the Atlantic Ocean crashing against these stone giants - a truly spectacular sight! Feel the wind against your face and invigorate your senses with the sights and sounds surrounding you. When we come down from Croaghaun, we will take a beach walk along Keel beach before heading back to our accommodation. Enjoy the spectacular scenery and refreshing walk. Overnight : Achill Island

Day 4 - Dublin

We leave the wonderful Achill Island and keep heading south through Newport and along Clew Bay. Clew Bay is the bay of islands. It's said that it has 365 islands in total, one for everyday of the year. We will stop in Westport, a fantastic town and one of our very favourites. There is lots to do in Westport such as brilliant pubs and restaurants. For the moment we'll check into our accommodationHiking at Croagh Patrick. Head for Ireland's holy mountain: Croagh Patrick, where St. Patrick spent 40 days and nights at the top. You will experience fabulous views from the top; there is even a church at the top just in case you want to drop in to say hi to the big fella! Overnight: Westport

Day 5 - Dublin - Sightseeing

Sightseeing. We'll be easy on you today with a drive through one of Ireland's most stunning valleys. Doo Lough is a place that is missed by the tourist trail. It's off the beaten track and when we go there, it’s usually free of tourists. Enjoy this lovely hidden gem and the spectacular views afforded by the secluded lake rimmed by majestic mountains. Hiking at Killary Harbour. Once we are checked into our accomodation, we will get our walking gear together and head for the Famine Walk along the shores of Killary Harbour. The starving Irish peasants built this road to earn food. You will pass little villages and cottages along the way. If only walls could talk I'm sure we would hear some sobering stories of their hardship. Overnight : Leenane Village

Day 6 - Dublin - Hiking

Hiking. Today, we will be taking a walk through the Maumturk Mountains. The walk is called the Maunméan walk and it is simply spectacular. You will walk through a gap in the mountain range and down to the Inagh Valley, where you will find Inage Lodge; a wonderful oasis where you can have some lunch or a pint after your walk.Sightseeing at Kylemore Abbey. We will also take the opportunity to visit one of Ireland’s most romantic abbeys, Kylemore Abbey. We will stay in Leenane again tonight and maybe check out some traditional music in the local pubs.

Day 7 - Dublin

Today we leave wild and wonderful Connemara and move on to the county of Clare; home of the Burren and the Cliffs of Moher. We will drive out of Connemara through Oughterard, known as the gateway to Connemara.Local Flavor. We will drive through lovely landscapes to the bohemian city of Galway, where the famous Claddagh ring comes from. Shop for a gift for yourself or another in the home of the well-known ring.Hiking at The Burren National Park. After Galway, we will travel along the coastline around Black Head. You are now in the heart of the limestone region of The Burren. Here we will hike around this lunar like landscape where you will find many species of plants only found in this part of Ireland. Sometimes the Burren is known as the 'Fertile Rock' because these beautiful and determined flowers manage to grow in the cracks and crevices of the limestone. There is a wonderful energy here and many fall in love with its raw beauty. Overnight: Doolin Village

Day 8 - Dublin - Hiking at Cliffs of Moher

Hiking at Cliffs of Moher. Everyone dreads the last day when it all must come to an end. However, we have one more spectacle to show you before we begin on the road back to reality. This morning, we will walk along the magnificent Cliffs Of Moher. These cliffs stand over 250 meters high and every October they are host to one of the biggest dates on the big wave surf calender. Aileen's Wave, which can reach 40 feet high, will crash annually against the cliffs. Whatever time of the year you decide to come here, these cliffs never fail to impress. Marvel at the stunning landscape and rugged cliffs as the ocean crashes below. After our visit, we will head back to Dublin via Limerick and make a quick photo-stop at Bunratty castle along the way. You can visit Blarney Woollen Mills there to grab some last minute gifts before you travel home.

The variety that was offered on our tour suited us very well. The Salar de Uyuni at sunrise was truly a unique place.

"We arrived back into Australia on Sunday after spending a couple of further weeks exploring some more of South America. I found you through Google searching for tours that included Atacama Desert options. The Good online reviews from numerous other travelers convinced us to work with you. Also the variety that was offered on this tour suited as very well
The 4WD trip through Bolivia was amazing. It's like a different planet up there and was a real experience. The Salar de Uyuni at sunrise was fantastic on the 4WD tour. Truly a unique place.
We really enjoyed the hotel in Purmurmarca - Hotel El Manantial del Silencio. It had real character and drinking Argentinian red wine by the open fireplace was lovely.
All our guides were very good and were friendly and welcoming. Eddie, our 4WD driver did not speak English which made it a bit hard to converse with, but we were lucky enough to be travelling with an Austrian family who were able to relay information to us. The guides for the Tatio geysers and the Humahuaca day tour were very good at relaying everything in Spanish and English. Sorry - but I can't recall their names.
Just one suggestion: It would be worth noting to people that not all services run every day and this needs to be confirmed for the requested dates. This didn't put us out too much as we got to spend an extra day in the North of Argentina, but we may have shifted our internal flights around a bit have we known the bus didn't run on a daily basis.
Cheers, Mat"

I booked a Long Island wine tasting tour with 2 of my friends and highly recommend booking through Project Expedition! Rob was very helpful in suggesting tours in the region and was pro-active helping us find a date that worked for the group! The tour stops at 3 vineyards in Long Island and includes snacks and a lunch. Really great value! Next we're planning to do their white water rafting and wine tasting tour which also comes highly recommend. All in all, a great experience booking with Project Expedition!

As a travel agent I am very particular about the suppliers that I use because they are an extension of myself and my agency to my clients. Project Expedition has more than exceeded my expectations when it comes to a supplier. The customer service is amazing, exactly how it should be. They treat their customers and their agents the way they should be treated. I send as much business their way as I can and am excited about their growing options
