Itinerary

On some trips we have a guest chef who accompanies the trip and prepares gourmet meals paired with their choice of fine regional wines. On other trips, we combine hands-on learning of campfire and Dutch Oven cooking focused on Northwest Regional Fare. Participants will be taught by ROW Adventures' talented guide staff and, sometimes, an additional skilled chef, to learn how to prepare gourmet meals in the wilderness. These skills include provisioning, packing coolers, the use of propane stoves, the art of Dutch Oven cooking and more! The skills learned can be used in for backyard cooking, on car camping trips, or other outdoor scenarios.

Dutch ovens have long been used in the West. Lewis and Clark, sourdoughs of gold rush days and pioneers on the Oregon Trail all depended on these versatile cooking pots that allow a person to bake just about anything. Participants in our cooking adventure will learn all the tricks of Dutch Oven cooking with a focus on regional Northwest fare such as wild salmon, Pacific oysters, huckleberries, Idaho potatoes, mushrooms, apples and other fresh seasonal fruit, etc.

Meals will be paired with Oregon, Washington and Idaho wines along with tasting notes of each featured wine.

All participants receive a complimentary and handsome ROW apron to take home!

Both The New York Times and Every Day with Rachael Ray have featured our culinary whitewater adventures!

I've had the privilege of working with ROW Adventures all over the world as a filmmaker. Having been on so many trips, both domestic and international, I have a pretty good knowledge as to how this company operates.

A few things stand out on every ROW trip, regardless of destination. First being the guides. These are people who genuinely love what they do. They're passionate, attentive, professional, safety-oriented, friendly, and generally fun people to be around. They're accommodating to individual needs and do their best to make sure you are comfortable and enjoying your vacation to the maximum.

The next thing that stands out is the food. It doesn't matter if you're on a 6 day whitewater rafting and camping trip, the food is gourmet. Prime rib, chicken mole, salmon, eggs Benedict, and a variety of expansive sandwhich spreads are just a few examples of ROW's typical "camp" food.

Perhaps their best feature though, is their emphasis on human connection. In the end, these are trips that are very often life changing. ROW is dedicated to curating life changing experiences that draw families closer to each other, create new friendships between guests and guides, and educate everyone involved about how tourism can work to the continued protection of our great outdoors.

If you're looking at booking an adventure trip, whether it be in North America or abroad, I would recommend ROW Adventures in a heartbeat.
They're a top-notch company in all the areas that count, and I would book them for any trip in the future.

Flights & Transport

Only ground transport

Group Size:

Intimate Group - 12 max

We staff our trips with one guide for every 3-4 guests providing you the ultimate in personal attention.

Accomodations

Full camping service

We are one of very few outfitters who have a cargo boat travels ahead to set up camp, including your tent and a complete kitchen with tables and chairs. This means when you get to camp you're free to explore – hike, fish, relax under a tree, rather than worry about the cumbersome unloading of cargo each day and setting up tents each night

Guides

Your trip is enriched by knowledgeable guides who share the canyon's cultural and natural history. No other company trains guides like we do, and most of our guides are also Certified Interpretive Guides through the National Association for Interpretation.

Age Notes

Min. Age: 5

Additional Information:

Carefully Orchestrated

Our guides are divided into a "guest crew" and a "kitchen crew." While the kitchen crew prepares dinner, our guest crew is available to spend time with you, lead a hike, show you how to cast a fishing line or simply sit in the shade and visit. This is a fundamental distinction between us and others
