Greece is a land of history, culture, nightlife and beauty. It brought the world democracy, drama, philosophy, the Olympic Games, literature and significant contributions to mathematics and science. All of this, in spite of, or because of, it's checkered and chaotic past. ROW visits this incredible country on a 8 to 10-day yacht tours of the Aegean Coast, exploring historical sites, shopping, mingling and soaking up the vibrant nightlife. Our small groups tour multiple islands aboard a few of the most trusted ships under the care of our Greek Captain and crew.

Trip Description

ROW Founder, Peter Grubb, and partner, Betsy Bowen, led ROW's first yacht trip to Greece in 1984. Since then ROW has taken hundreds of guests on yacht charters to Greece. We work directly with the owners and captains of our contracted yachts, and have meticulously organized our Greek yachting trips to show you the beauty, history, culture and fun of this beautiful Mediterranean country.

We are pleased to make available weekly departures aboard the 24-passenger Aegean Lady II, the 40 passenger H&B II and the 50 passenger Harmony V. Yacht tours of Greece are available to singles, couples and small groups, and ROW can arrange private charters for larger groups.

Greece is a land of mountains and gorges scattered over the gorgeous blue sea. Throughout time, its civilization has been carried far and wide. Greek temples can be found throughout the Mediterranean and its statues in London, Paris and America. The country is the birthplace of democracy and has a tumultuous history of Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman influence.

A people of shepherds, traders and warriors, Greek philosophy, politics, poetry and theater are the very essence of Western civilization. Greece is the birthplace of the Olympic Games and modern drama and its mythology has inspired two thousand years of Western art.

While the Islands of Greece are popular among travelers the world over, it is still possible to find a secluded shore. Even today the Greek Islands have retained the enchantment that inspired Homer and Byron to write about the wine dark sea, the transcendentally brilliant light, the scent of lemon blossom and jasmine at twilight and nights alive with shooting stars. The ancient Greeks made the islands sacred to the gods, and they have yet to surrender them entirely.

The Family Magic Trip down the lower Salmon River in August was AMAZING! The guides were awesome! So knowledgeable, funny, and resourceful. The food was better than most restaurants and my kids loved it (as did I)! The River Jester (Lily) was such a sweet yet stern and fun lady that kept the kids entertained and they loved her. They setup camp for us each day at these amazing beaches! I have never been rafting, and they were there to make it seem easy and doable! I loved that they taught us about the local history and environments. A stop at Spalding was awesome start to the trip! I enjoyed the paddle boats, inflatable kayaks, and the oar boats. I even became part of the swim team but it was a good experience having the guides there to ensure our safety. I loved cliff jumping, the short hikes, swimming the rapids, and swimming in the river with the kids. The time with friends and family was great. It was so relaxing and good to meet so many different people I feel that I can call my friends now. Best part was sleeping under the stars with my family hearing the rushing river next to us. The guides made the trip so personal and they were caring! Thanks so much Mark, Max, Connie, Jonas, Curtis, Lily, and Bethany! Absolutely recommend going on a trip with ROW and I plan to with my children again, it was worth every penny! Thanks Jason for helping plan the trip for me!

ROW Adventures is a great way to get off the beaten path and experience our wonderful wilderness with a set of wonderful guides. I am not sure which was the best part of our 6 day trip on The River of No Return; the guides, the food, meeting new people, the river... But all seemed to fall into a wonderful rhythm that perfectly complimented each other. My family was very concerned that we even signed up for this type of vacation. It is one thing to go floating in the wild in your young, but quite different when you are many years down the road and suffer from chronic pain. For some reason, the cooler water if the river, time to give back to ur soul, the daily stops to visit the hot springs, the wonderful healthy great tasting food, and encouragement of our guides all seemed to bring back the youth of our younger days gone by. We smiled, giggled, shared great drink and laughed at the joke after joke. But most of all, it was the guides that made our trip as each day unfolded. Each guide brought back the youth of our soul through the morning stretches, the stories of past explorers, and the shared fishing tackle! Now my next wish is to embark on a new ROW adventure with my son so we can share a new chapter of complete happiness in our beautiful wilderness...Maybe Hells Canyon or their adventure that offers trail riding and fast river rafting! Either way, it is something for everyone no matter what your age!

Enjoy spectacular views. Dinner aboard. overnight at Santorini. The environment of this island is totally different from any of the other Cycladic islands. Often referred to as the "Prehistoric Pompeii of the Aegean" due to the geological changes which transformed this island. A volcanic explosion which took place 3500 years ago is believed to have been responsible for the annihilation of the Minoan civilization in Crete, which lies 70 miles southwards. It is also believed that Santorini or Thira as the locals call it is part of the legendary lost continent of Atlantis which disappeared when the volcano erupted. Whatever might be believed, Santorini is a minefield of archaeological interest featuring ancient Thira and Akrotiri with remains of its Minoan town. The island is renowned for itsunique views and colorful sunsets.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner

Morning sail to Paros, one of the most beautiful islands of the Cyclades. Swimming stop at Antiparos.Lunch. Arrival at18:30 to Paros (Paroikia or Naousa). Paros has in recent years developed into a modern tourist center and is one of the few Cycladic islands filled with gently undulating hills which contain the famous Parian marble - the marble with which the Acropolis was built.

The picturesque approach to the island is via the town of Parikia, the main port and capital of the island, built on the site of the ancient city. A ruined Venetian castle situated in the present market place, adds to the colour of Parikia, with its narrow cobble-paved streets, white-washed houses decorated with pots of colorful geraniums and fragrant basil. One of the most impressive and respected shrines of Byzantine architecture can be found in the form of the Holy Church of Ekatondapiliani, or roughly translated means the church of 100 doors.

Day: 5 - Paros – Naxos

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner

Morning leisure in Paros.Sail for Naxos. Swimming stop & lunch. Arrival At Naxos Port .Visit. Overnight. This island known as the island of the "Virgin Mary", is unique for its 800 odd dovecotes artistically designed and built, and scattered over the entire island. Every year on the 15th August thousands of pilgrims from all over Greece gather to honor the Virgin Mary and Her icon which is said to have miraculous properties. However Tinos also has a tradition of being the home of many sculptors and craftsmen. A fine arts school operating on the island is well worth a visit for those interested in fine works of art.

Day: 6 - Naxos – Myconos

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner

Sail after breakfast for Myconos - the most cosmopolitan island with dazzling white houses, excellent shopping & entertainments. Enjoy spectacular sunset & Greek dancing. Swimming stop & lunch. Proceeding Myconos Marina at 18:30 Overnight. Although barren and full of windmills, Mykonos is one of the most cosmopolitan of the Greek islands, attracting world renowned socialites, intellectuals and artists. From its harbor, full of small fishing boats bobbing side-by-side with luxurious yachts, one can walk through narrow white-washed alleys, see dazzling white cubed-shaped houses with brightly painted wooden doors and windows, plus a myriad of tiny blue-domed churches. Famous for its zany nightlife, Mykonos has also much to offer those searching for the cultural history of the island. The church of PARAPORTIANI is considered to be an architectural masterpiece. The archaeological museum exhibits some very interesting finds, most of which were excavated from the "necropolis" or dead city on the little islet of RINEIA.

Day: 7 - Myconos / Delos / Tinos

Departure after breakfast to Delos - the sacred island of Apollo. Delos, the mythical birthplace of Apollo and Artemis. On a guided tour, you’ll visit the archaeological ruins of this UNESCO World Heritage Site, unearthed here in the 19th century. Delos is a true open-air museum with many ancient monuments and buildings that are remarkably intact. Except from the guards and the guides the island is not inhabited. Swim & lunch.

Proceed to Tinos –the Holy Island. Visit. Overnight. This island known as the island of the "Virgin Mary” is unique for its 800 odd dovecotes artistically designed and built, and scattered over the entire island. Every year on the 15th August thousands of pilgrims from all over Greece gather to honor the Virgin Mary and Her icon which is said to have miraculous properties.
