Day 1: Your Overnight Transatlantic Flight

Depart Your Home Airport on your Trans-Pacific flight to Australia ~ Flight not included, but inquire for special fare with our Air Service.

Please Note: "Day 1" is the published tour date, and is the date you will arrange your air travel to depart your home airport. Your Small Group Tour will commence on Itinerary Day 3 (Day 2 is lost crossing the international dateline) upon arrival into Sydney, Australia (airport code: SYD).

Day 2: Cross the International Dateline

This day will be "lost" as we cross the International Dateline. We will regain this day on our return.

Day 3: Welcome to Sydney, Australia

Your Tour Captain is there to make sure your dining experience goes smoothly and will help you interpret any menu item. For most included dinners, your Tour Captain will select a variety of appetizers, featuring regional cuisine, and will select your wine for the evening ~ a variety of red and white wine from the region you're traveling ~ and yes, "the wine flows." After breakfast, meet the Tour Captain and then enjoy our included sightseeing experience of Sydney, Australia. The Story of Sydney begins in the heart of the city and the historic "Rocks District." The original settlement of Australia, we learn all about the amazing past. We enjoy an immersion in everything Sydney with our Panoramic drive.

Sydney-Siders, as they're called, are a warm people for such a cosmopolitan city. We return early afternoon for the balance of the day at leisure.

Tonight: STORY Exclusive Experience

The Award-Winning Sounds Of Silence dinner under the Southern Hemisphere —  and we've built in something a little extra!

It all starts at Sunset with canapes and chilled sparkling wine served on a viewing platform overlooking the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. As the sun sets and darkness falls, listen to the sound of a didgeridoo and join your table of fellow travelers for an unforgettable dining experience.

Settle back and listen to the resident star talker decode the southern night sky. Locate the Southern Cross, the signs of the zodiac, the Milky Way, as well as planets and galaxies that are visible due to the exceptional clarity of the atmosphere.

We return to the hotels for a good night's rest.

Day 6: Sunrise In the Great Australian Outback & then on to the gateway to the Great Barrier reef"

At dawn, we arrive the literal "Red center of Australia." Get ready for something unlike anything you've experienced from the Rock to the Southern Hemisphere.

We depart before sunrise for Ayer's Rock, Uluru to the Aboriginal people. Enjoy an impressive display of color as the sun rises. It's a brisk morning, but well worth it to experience Ayer's Rock up close with its own brilliant display of colors. Enjoy a continental breakfast this morning at the Rock as we soak in the amazing colors on the Rock.

After our experience at the Rock, we then continue to the airport and our onward flight to Queensland.

Sunny Tropical Far North Queensland –  the Captain Cook Highway

Welcome to Tropical Far North Queensland, where the rainforest meets the reef. Upon arrival, we transfer via the amazingly scenic Captain Cook Highway to our hotel and freshen up before a Queensland welcome dinner with your Tour Captain.

Gateway to Australia's Great Barrier Reef

Day 7: The Story of the Reef

Exclusives: Snorkeling on the Outer Reef

After breakfast, on our first full day in Queensland, we are all off to see the Great Barrier Reef up close. This is one of the most stunning experiences on our tour and we enjoy it from the VIP section of our boating adventure.

Today, enjoy a full-day tour of the Great Barrier Reef - complete with glass bottom boats and snorkeling - get up close to the technicolor banks of coral reef teeming with tropical fish. This experience is one which makes a lasting impression on STORY Land & Sea® patrons - if at all possible, you must try snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef.

Are you a Scuba diver? Yes, you can Scuba today —  inquire with reservations.

The day is highlighted with a smorgasbord lunch on the water and ample free time for relaxing and soaking in the sun. We return to our hotel for a free evening.

Day 8: Kuranda Rainforest by SkyRail + Koala & Crocs

This morning enjoy our sightseeing immersion far above the Kuranda Rainforest via the SkyRail ‘Rainforest Cableway,' followed by our admission and experience at the Koala and Wildlife Park.

On the SkyRail, you will enjoy a bird’s eye view of pristine World Heritage Rainforest with two stops at Barron Falls and Red Peak stations. At each stop the friendly Skyrail staff will help you disembark your gondola to enjoy the spectacular boardwalks that descend into the pristine rainforest.

Then we make our way to the Koala and Wildlife Park and come face to face with Crocodiles, hand feed Barramundi, Kangaroos and Wallabies. There is also the opportunity to view other native species, including Rainforest Pythons, Cassowaries and Dingoes. You may also take the opportunity to cuddle a Koala and have your photograph taken (for an optional extra!).

At the end of today's journey we transfer back to our hotel —  an amazing day.

Day 9: Welcome to Melbourne

We board our on-tour flight from Cairns to Melbourne. Upon arrival, we make our way to the heart of the city, check-in, freshen up and then enjoy a walking tour with our Expert Guide.

Today our Story Expert Guide immerses us in the history and culture of Melbourne.

Highlights include:

Learn about arts and history at the Shrine of Remembrance, Royal Botanic Gardens and see the Arts Centre -Melbourne

Stroll around the vibrant suburb of St Kilda, perhaps purchasing a treat at one its famous European-style patisseries

Walking Level: Leisurely Pace. Volume: Light to Moderate

We return to our hotel for the balance of the day at leisure.

Day 11: The STORY of the Great Ocean Road

After breakfast, we make our way via chartered air-craft for our flight-seeing tour along the amazing coastline of southern Australia. We touchdown in Barwon Heads to explore the Great Ocean Road and see the amazing limestone formation, the Twelve Apostles. Be mesmerized by the natural beauty as you explore the Surf Coast of Victoria.

We return by our craft to Melbourne for a free evening.

Tonight, join the Tour Captain for an optional dinner or enjoy exploring Melbourne at your leisure."

Day 12: To New Zealand

After breakfast, we make our way to the Melbourne airport for the flight to the South Island of New Zealand and the city of Queenstown.

Welcome to the South Island!

We airhop to Queenstown on the South Island, and make our way to our hotel, our home for the next four evenings.

We check in, freshen up and enjoy time at leisure until our included dinner tonight in Fiordland.

Day 13: Milford Sound

This morning we make our way to the airport for our special chartered flight to enchanting Milford Sound. Just when you thought it couldn't get more awe-inspiring, you arrive to some of the most majestic scenes found in the world. This area of New Zealand has been noted as a World Heritage Site.

Milford Sound Experience

We continue to explore the Fiordland National Park as we make our way to Milford Sound for our special on-board cruise complete with lunch among the magnificent cliffs and glacier-hewn inlets of the Sound.

After we land we will choose whether to take the shuttle bus or, if time permits, take you on a short walk through the bush and foreshore to the cruise boat. Once on the boat, we will enjoy a leisurely cruise along the whole length of the sound.

Included Lunch: Enjoy lunch at the on-board restaurant. After the cruise, our pilot will escort you back to the aircraft for the return flight to Queenstown along a different flight path.

We return to our hotel in Queenstown for the evening. Make note, in the event of inclement weather and subsequent flight cancellation, we will attempt to reschedule for the next day, however, there are no refunds. Should this event be cancelled, guests will need to submit this as a claim to their travel insurance.

Day 14: Day at Leisure

Enjoy a complete day at leisure. Optional experiences are available such as Hang Gliding, Self-Drive Safaris, Private Tour Safaris, Lord of the Ring Safaris and more.

Day 15: Wine Tasting With Lunch + Farewell

Included Winery Experience

A leisurely morning turns into a wonderful mid-day experience as we set off for the nearby Gibbston Valley. We head north from Queenstown where you will enjoy our winery tour and taste the varietals from the South Island paired with lunch. Exquisite!

We will return to Queenstown in the mid to late afternoon to freshen up before a wonderful farewell event tonight.

Special Dining: We step aboard the TSS Earnslaw for a nostalgic cruising and dining experience. We enjoy a cruise of the lake on the way to the Colonel’s Homestead at Walter Peak. Please NOTE: This is a seasonal experience. Alternate activity will be provided during off-season.

Enjoy high country hospitality and a carvery style dinner featuring the best of New Zealand meats and seafood, along with fresh vegetables and garden salads.

An entertaining after dinner show provides a glimpse into farming life. We return to our hotel for the balance of day at leisure. Your Farewell to the South Pacific dinner is with the Tour Captain tonight.

It is a night of fun, great cuisine, wine, and memories! Our days have been filled with new sights, tastes, and discoveries - tonight enjoy reflecting on the incredible journey we've had together!

Day 16: Departure Day

After breakfast, opt for our transfer to the Queenstown Airport to catch flights bound for North America, or perhaps our extension to the North Island. Inquire for details.
