Short Description

Ready for an incredible, can’t-stop-reminiscing-about-it week cruising Croatia’s incomparable islands? Yeah, we thought so. Do yourself a favour and go where the calm seas gently lap at the picturesque islands of the Dalmatian coast; where the food is as abundant as the sunshine; where your most memorable night out is in the depths of a beachside grotto, and where dressing like a pirate is totally the norm. The only problem is, you’ll never want to leave. #LifeChanged

Groups are between 25-60 people, typically ~30-40. Usually there will be many opportunities to split off and enjoy meals and excursions in smaller groups. This is the most economical way to travel, saving up to 40% versus booking the same itinerary yourself.

Itinerary

Day 1

Swap some cash for kuna (not the furry kind), put your bags on your bunk and hit the big blue. When we dock at sleepy fishing village Milna, you can choose to chow down on an optional barbecue feast or hang out on deck. You'll all be shipmates in no time.

Meals:
-Lunch

Optional activities:
-Local wine tasting
-BBQ dinner onboard

Day 2

Anchors up and motor on this morning, with a few swim stops en route. First stop: Hvar, the self-proclaimed ‘sunniest spot in Europe’ with a supposed 2,715 hours of sunlight in an average year. Lather up the sunscreen – ain’t nobody got time for burn when we have an afternoon at Hula Hula beach bar to get involved with.

Included today:
-Visit Hvar Fortress (entrance not included)
-Night out in Hvar

Meals:
-Breakfast
-Lunch

Day 3

Did you pack your sense of adventure? Good. We’re moving on to Korcula, where we’ll be hitting the cobblestone alleys on a walking tour. Later on, there’s plenty of time to climb your way to the top of an old-school cathedral tower to savour a colourful cocktail. Take note: the ladder to the top of Massimo’s cocktail bar is seriously steep, so watch your head! Anyone for an optional village dinner experience afterwards?

Included today:
-Walking tour of Korcula Old Town

Meals:
-Breakfast
-Lunch

Optional activities:
-Village dinner experience

Day 4

Up next: Dubrovnik. Beyoncé and Jay-Z fell crazy in love with it, and if you’re into Game of Thrones you're sure to find your inner fanboy on an optional tour. Why not soak up Dubrovnik’s unique vibes with a stroll along the top of the 1,940 metre long city walls? Some optional sea kayaking around the city walls will put the cherry on the cake today.

Meals:
-Breakfast
-Lunch

Optional activities:
-Sea kayaking around the ancient City Walls of Dubrovnik
-Game of Thrones tour

Day 5

If you had 99 problems, Dubrovnik probably took care of a few. Today it’s on to Mljet, which, despite its lack of vowels, is pretty spesh. Opt in to pay a visit to the National Park (and the chance to see St Mary’s Island). This afternoon is on your watch, so feel free to spend it as you wish. Tonight, there’s an optional captain’s dinner aboard the boat to get stuck into.

Meals:
-Breakfast
-Lunch

Optional activities:
-Visit Mljet National Park
-Captain’s dinner onboard

Day 6

Time to trim the sails again and set course for the Makarska Riviera, one of the best unsung holiday spots in Europe. Today’s all yours to stroll the pretty promenade, indulge in some adventurous activities (think hiking and biking), or simply lounge about on the pebbly beach. You do you.

Meals:
-Breakfast
-Lunch

Day 7

Seize the chance to zipline across the Cetina Gorge (optional) before we set sail back to Split for the ultimate vacay finale. Yes, it's a UNESCO World Heritage-listed city, and yes, it has an abundance of Roman architecture, so don’t just sit there. Get exploring! You won’t want to miss Diocletian’s Palace – it’s one of the best preserved Roman monuments in the world. Plus, if it’s good enough for an emperor, odds are you’ll rate it too.

Meals:
-Breakfast
-Lunch

Optional activities:
-Ziplining

Day 8

Anchors down for a final breakfast. Swap contact details with your new mates and start planning your next adventure.

Amazing staff who are very friendly and also extremely knowledgeable. My trip was amazing and I enjoyed every minute of it. I did the Spirit of Europe last year and couldn’t recommend Topdeck enough.

I jumped on this tour with very little notice and planning, and I was thoroughly impressed. Our Topdeck trip leader was very knowledgeable, fun, and adjusted the trip to the group (34 people). The meals provided were delicious, and they worked hard to cater to dietary needs. Accommodations were good, typically with 2-6 people in a hostel room. Keep in mind they are hostels, not hotels (bring your own towel).

I loved the itinerary, as it highlighted the must-see places and had variety (ex. Paris, Rome vs. Switzerland). The optionals in each city were all wonderful. However, many were not presented in the Topdeck literature online and were not introduced on the trip more than a day in advance. All are paid for in cash (Euros). Because of how the optionals were presented, it was a bit harder to budget. I would recommend inquiring more about the optionals when booking and at the beginning of your tour via your trip leader. Don't feel pressured to do all of them and remember to keep your own interests in mind.

The solo travelers easily found others with similar interests to explore with. For many on this trip, drinking and going out to bars/clubs was a major component (as alcohol is often cheaper than water). Because of the shortness of this tour along with all the destinations, prepare for lots of driving and to make the most of the time you have in each city.

This trip provided am amazing sampling of Western Europe and opened my eyes to cultures and history I was unfamiliar with. Overall, I would highly recommend this itinerary and touring company, as it provided a good balance between budget and experiences.

P.S. Stay flexible with plans, but some of the popular sights need more pre-planning than expected, like the Eiffel Tower and the Anne Frank House (Amsterdam).

Overall amazing value. Food, particularly by Topdeck staff, excellent. Spontaneous/flexible; be prepared to pay for lots of extra excursions, on and off your itinerary, in cash.

Food was excellent. Accomodations were better than expected: hostels, but usually with in-suite bathrooms and always only with other members of your tour of the same gender. Don't try to overplan; trip is quite spontaneous and flexible and you won't know much about the schedule/optionals for each city more than a day or so in advance. Optionals will be plentiful and paid in cash. Only do those that are right for you, even if your trip leader really encourages them and most other people are going. These trips are great for solo travelers, but make sure you find people interested in the same things as you...it will probably be easy to find groups to go to bars and clubs with in the evenings, but harder to find people who prefer other evening plans. Driver was excellent and bus was very comfortable and clean, but be prepared to spend a lot of time on it as there is no driving at night. Trip leader extremely knowledgeable, experienced, and helpful. Overall, excellent value and a trip with plenty of time to see the bucket list highlights in each city.

Did Uluru discovery in Australia and Grand Kiwi in NZ back in November and it was the most amazing experience ever! Awesome guide and driver. Well organized and took great care of us!
Only one bad hostel accommodation wise, but other than that it was amazing.
It was so nice not having to worry about accommodations, transportation, and most meals when we got there! On the days it wasn’t included, the guide/driver would tell us what’s in the area!
For sure will be doing another topdeck tour in the future!

My partner and I just completed the 20 day Discover Winter tour and it was absolutely outstanding! What really made the trip though was the Trip Leader, Alex, and the driver, Deyan. They were both extremely knowledgeable people and explained everything we needed to know to enjoy every place we went to. I highly recommend this tour and hope that everybody else has the opportunity to meet Alex and Deyan.

Accomodations

We use a fleet of Traditional Ensuite, Traditional Ensuite Plus, Premium and Premium Superior boats during the summer, all of which have en-suite cabins. Boats range in size from 25 to 40 metres, and can comfortably carry/sleep up to 36 people.

Though the boats are rigged for sailing, all possess diesel engines of varying horsepower. As such, this is not strictly a 'sailing' trip – but an awesome nautical adventure all the same!

The cabins can be either on deck or below deck, and are generally small as there is limited space on the boat – so please pack light.

If you are a solo traveller, you’ll share a twin room with someone of the same sex.

All of our Croatia boat trips include daily buffet breakfasts and three-course lunches, except breakfast on the first day of your trip and lunch on the last day of your trip.

Each boat has a local chef, who’ll serve up fresh local flavours each day. If you have any dietary requirements, your chef will make every effort to cater to your specific needs – as long as you advise your travel agent (or the Topdeck reservations team) in advance.

Your boat:

Toma (Traditional Ensuite)

A boat with a proud family heritage, the Toma is named after the grandfather of its original captain. Thanks to a major restoration in 2002, sailing on this traditional Croatian ship has never felt more comfortable – and the current owner, Tomislav, continues to reinvest in it every year. With a fun and experienced crew to guide you, you can relax and enjoy the family atmosphere on board the historic Toma as you hop from sunny destination to sunny destination.

Traditional Ensuite

Cabins are either on deck or below deck. If you are in an on-deck cabin, you may be on the main deck or on the top deck.

The cabins do not have air conditioning. However, most boats have air conditioning units in the communal areas, which may be put on for some time during the night.

If the weather gets extremely hot, the crew may provide fans for the boat.

Boat Crew

The boat crew consists of a captain, one or two deckhands, a bartender and a chef to whom will be on hand to ensure your trip is the highlight of your experience in Croatia.

The captain is solely responsible for the boat while at sea and it is therefore important that you heed the captain’s advice at all times for your own safety.

All of our captains are local to the area and have been sailing the Croatian coastline for many years – so you can rest assured you’re in capable hands!

Meals Included:

Evening meals are not included, giving you plenty of free time to discover the local cuisine on offer in each destination. Due to this our guides have a range of recommendations for you and your new Topdeck family to try out in each city.

Keep in mind that some restaurants can be very busy during the peak season and getting space for a large group can be difficult, so menus and prices can vary. There’s no pressure for you to dine at the restaurants suggested if you’d prefer to do your own thing, so be sure to ask your guide for other recommendations.

Drinks

Bringing food and drinks on board is not permitted. All drinks are sold on the boat at reasonable prices.

To avoid the hassle of having to worry about always needing cash to purchase drinks on board, we run a bar tab for every passenger. Your tabs are tallied up and made available to you each day so that it is never a surprise as to how much you have bought. All bar tabs are to be paid in cash on the second last day of your trip.

Please note: At Topdeck we always consider our customers’ health and safety. We ask that you drink responsibly and bear in mind that in some countries, alcohol measures can be considerably larger than what you may be used to. Consider your limits – and remember that Croatia is a beautiful country, which is hard to see while feeling ill!
