Itinerary

Day 1

Viva España! Our trip begins today in the glorious Spanish coastal city of Valencia. Meet the gang at our accommodation, then head out on the town for the chance to get to know your fellow revellers. Food fight in T minus 48 hours = befriend the enemy.

Meals:
Dinner

Day 2

Today is all yours to explore Valencia's Old Quarter, taking in such highlights as the Central Market, Plaza Redonda, the Cathedral of Valencia and the Basilica of Our Lady the Forsaken. Not keen for a wander? We won't judge if you'd rather retire to the beach and work on your tan. This evening is yours to sample the delicious local cuisine, so order up big at a tapas bar and wash it all down with a sangria (or two)

Meals:
-Breakfast

Day 3

We have an early start this morning - but today's excitement makes it more than worthwhile. We'll board our coaches for the included transfer to Buñol, the home of La Tomatina - the world's biggest food fight! The atmosphere building up to the 'fight' is like one big street party, with the occasional water fight added just for fun. Technically the festival doesn't kick off until someone has climbed up a greased pole to retrieve a ham (no, really) - however a cannon blast will also signal the start of the tomato onslaught at 11am. Huge trucks packed with tons of tomatoes roll through the street dropping their loads in the middle of the packed crowds. Then it's game on: everyone for themselves! The fight lasts for an hour - which may not sound like much but it's a long time if you're repeatedly getting pelted with tomatoes. Then, it's time to head back to Valencia for a shower and a well-earned rest. Tonight hopefully there are no lingering tomato-related animosities as we toast new friends and the memories of our Tomatina experience.

Meals:
-Breakfast

Day 4

Wake up feeling like a human-sized bottle of ketchup? That's all part of the fun. Rinse the remains of yesterday's epic food fight from behind your ears and dive into a hearty breakfast. The trip finishes this morning, but be sure to stick around with your newfound comrades and explore Valencia some more.

Amazing staff who are very friendly and also extremely knowledgeable. My trip was amazing and I enjoyed every minute of it. I did the Spirit of Europe last year and couldn’t recommend Topdeck enough.

I jumped on this tour with very little notice and planning, and I was thoroughly impressed. Our Topdeck trip leader was very knowledgeable, fun, and adjusted the trip to the group (34 people). The meals provided were delicious, and they worked hard to cater to dietary needs. Accommodations were good, typically with 2-6 people in a hostel room. Keep in mind they are hostels, not hotels (bring your own towel).

I loved the itinerary, as it highlighted the must-see places and had variety (ex. Paris, Rome vs. Switzerland). The optionals in each city were all wonderful. However, many were not presented in the Topdeck literature online and were not introduced on the trip more than a day in advance. All are paid for in cash (Euros). Because of how the optionals were presented, it was a bit harder to budget. I would recommend inquiring more about the optionals when booking and at the beginning of your tour via your trip leader. Don't feel pressured to do all of them and remember to keep your own interests in mind.

The solo travelers easily found others with similar interests to explore with. For many on this trip, drinking and going out to bars/clubs was a major component (as alcohol is often cheaper than water). Because of the shortness of this tour along with all the destinations, prepare for lots of driving and to make the most of the time you have in each city.

This trip provided am amazing sampling of Western Europe and opened my eyes to cultures and history I was unfamiliar with. Overall, I would highly recommend this itinerary and touring company, as it provided a good balance between budget and experiences.

P.S. Stay flexible with plans, but some of the popular sights need more pre-planning than expected, like the Eiffel Tower and the Anne Frank House (Amsterdam).

Overall amazing value. Food, particularly by Topdeck staff, excellent. Spontaneous/flexible; be prepared to pay for lots of extra excursions, on and off your itinerary, in cash.

Food was excellent. Accomodations were better than expected: hostels, but usually with in-suite bathrooms and always only with other members of your tour of the same gender. Don't try to overplan; trip is quite spontaneous and flexible and you won't know much about the schedule/optionals for each city more than a day or so in advance. Optionals will be plentiful and paid in cash. Only do those that are right for you, even if your trip leader really encourages them and most other people are going. These trips are great for solo travelers, but make sure you find people interested in the same things as you...it will probably be easy to find groups to go to bars and clubs with in the evenings, but harder to find people who prefer other evening plans. Driver was excellent and bus was very comfortable and clean, but be prepared to spend a lot of time on it as there is no driving at night. Trip leader extremely knowledgeable, experienced, and helpful. Overall, excellent value and a trip with plenty of time to see the bucket list highlights in each city.

Did Uluru discovery in Australia and Grand Kiwi in NZ back in November and it was the most amazing experience ever! Awesome guide and driver. Well organized and took great care of us!
Only one bad hostel accommodation wise, but other than that it was amazing.
It was so nice not having to worry about accommodations, transportation, and most meals when we got there! On the days it wasn’t included, the guide/driver would tell us what’s in the area!
For sure will be doing another topdeck tour in the future!

My partner and I just completed the 20 day Discover Winter tour and it was absolutely outstanding! What really made the trip though was the Trip Leader, Alex, and the driver, Deyan. They were both extremely knowledgeable people and explained everything we needed to know to enjoy every place we went to. I highly recommend this tour and hope that everybody else has the opportunity to meet Alex and Deyan.
