Itinerary

Day 1

Hellz yeah! Welcome to San Francisco. Dump your bags, it's time to hit the streets. And don't forget your MUNI pass - see that tram over there? That's the famous San Francisco Cable Car and you've got a ticket to ride it - woo! So, where you headed? Will you hit the Golden Gate Bridge on your first day? Why not! Hire bikes in town and ride the bike path 13 kilometres over to Sausalito (don't forget to stop for selfies.) On the way back, catch the ferry and have a drink to celebrate. You totes deserve it.

Included today:
-3 Day MUNI Visitor Pass

Optional activities:
-Airport arrival transfer

Day 2

Day two in San Fran and you're probably thinking, “ why haven't I tried Clam Chowder in a bread bowl yet?”. Great question! Get dressed and scuttle to Crab Station at Fishermans Wharf. Rumour has it, it tastes like a warm hug feels. After, walk off that full belly and spot the seal colony next to Pier 39. Worth it for the noises they make alone. Spend the afternoon exploring here or go on an Alcatraz Tour, cos funnily enough, this is where the tour departs from.

Included today:
-24-hour hop on/off sightseeing bus pass

Meals:
-Breakfast

Day 3

Remember Full House? Today you should check out the street the TV show made famous. With eight spectacular hairpin turns and some of the cutest Victorian style houses ever, it's worth going here to watch the cars twist and turn, 8 kilometres an hour down the hill. And while you're outside, hike to the top of Twin Peaks and take in the view of Downtown San Fran. Pack a picnic and toast to you being all fit-'n' stuff. Now how 'bout that view?

Meals:
-Breakfast

Day 4

Barneys, Bloomingdales, Macys oh my! Stop - today it's shopping time. Spend your last day in San Fran doing what any respectable person leaving SF would do: shopping away your feelings in Union Square. Welcome to the crown jewel of all shopping districts. But tut-tut, don't spend all your money. You'll need to buy food at the airport when you head off.

Meals:
-Breakfast

Optional activities:
-Airport departure transfer

Amazing staff who are very friendly and also extremely knowledgeable. My trip was amazing and I enjoyed every minute of it. I did the Spirit of Europe last year and couldn’t recommend Topdeck enough.

I jumped on this tour with very little notice and planning, and I was thoroughly impressed. Our Topdeck trip leader was very knowledgeable, fun, and adjusted the trip to the group (34 people). The meals provided were delicious, and they worked hard to cater to dietary needs. Accommodations were good, typically with 2-6 people in a hostel room. Keep in mind they are hostels, not hotels (bring your own towel).

I loved the itinerary, as it highlighted the must-see places and had variety (ex. Paris, Rome vs. Switzerland). The optionals in each city were all wonderful. However, many were not presented in the Topdeck literature online and were not introduced on the trip more than a day in advance. All are paid for in cash (Euros). Because of how the optionals were presented, it was a bit harder to budget. I would recommend inquiring more about the optionals when booking and at the beginning of your tour via your trip leader. Don't feel pressured to do all of them and remember to keep your own interests in mind.

The solo travelers easily found others with similar interests to explore with. For many on this trip, drinking and going out to bars/clubs was a major component (as alcohol is often cheaper than water). Because of the shortness of this tour along with all the destinations, prepare for lots of driving and to make the most of the time you have in each city.

This trip provided am amazing sampling of Western Europe and opened my eyes to cultures and history I was unfamiliar with. Overall, I would highly recommend this itinerary and touring company, as it provided a good balance between budget and experiences.

P.S. Stay flexible with plans, but some of the popular sights need more pre-planning than expected, like the Eiffel Tower and the Anne Frank House (Amsterdam).

Overall amazing value. Food, particularly by Topdeck staff, excellent. Spontaneous/flexible; be prepared to pay for lots of extra excursions, on and off your itinerary, in cash.

Food was excellent. Accomodations were better than expected: hostels, but usually with in-suite bathrooms and always only with other members of your tour of the same gender. Don't try to overplan; trip is quite spontaneous and flexible and you won't know much about the schedule/optionals for each city more than a day or so in advance. Optionals will be plentiful and paid in cash. Only do those that are right for you, even if your trip leader really encourages them and most other people are going. These trips are great for solo travelers, but make sure you find people interested in the same things as you...it will probably be easy to find groups to go to bars and clubs with in the evenings, but harder to find people who prefer other evening plans. Driver was excellent and bus was very comfortable and clean, but be prepared to spend a lot of time on it as there is no driving at night. Trip leader extremely knowledgeable, experienced, and helpful. Overall, excellent value and a trip with plenty of time to see the bucket list highlights in each city.

Did Uluru discovery in Australia and Grand Kiwi in NZ back in November and it was the most amazing experience ever! Awesome guide and driver. Well organized and took great care of us!
Only one bad hostel accommodation wise, but other than that it was amazing.
It was so nice not having to worry about accommodations, transportation, and most meals when we got there! On the days it wasn’t included, the guide/driver would tell us what’s in the area!
For sure will be doing another topdeck tour in the future!

My partner and I just completed the 20 day Discover Winter tour and it was absolutely outstanding! What really made the trip though was the Trip Leader, Alex, and the driver, Deyan. They were both extremely knowledgeable people and explained everything we needed to know to enjoy every place we went to. I highly recommend this tour and hope that everybody else has the opportunity to meet Alex and Deyan.
