Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Beijing

Accommodation: The Great Wall Hotel Beijing  - the former Sheraton

When you arrive in Beijing today, your two weeks China group tour officially begins. Once you have claimed your luggage and cleared customs, you will find our guide waiting for you in the airport arrivals area, holding a welcome sign bearing your name. The guide and driver will take you to the hotel and help you register for three nights. The rest of the day is for your own use.

Day2: Beijing

Meals: Breakfast and Lunch

Commence your visit to Tiananmen Square and then to the Forbidden City, the home of emperors in the Ming and Qing dynasties. Nowadays, it houses the palace museum with numerous imperial treasures. Every detail of the palace tells its visitors a story of ancient royal life. Lunch is served at a celebrated restaurant with an a la carte menu (valued at CNY150.00 per person and included in our price).

In the afternoon, you will visit the Temple of Heaven, which used to be the altar where emperors worshiped heaven and prayed for a good harvest. Later, the highlight of the evening will be a brilliant Chinese Kung Fu Show performed at the Red Theatre.

Day 3: Beijing

Meals: Breakfast

We suggest you have a full breakfast this morning, as we will drive from downtown to climb the wondrous Great Wall at Badaling. Restaurants in the mountain area are of low quality and do not meet our service standard, so we suggest you have some fast food for lunch. A jade factory is scheduled later.

Then you are going to visit the Sacred Way that was linking all the tombs in the cemetery. At the conclusion of today's trip, you will have a chance to take photos of the 2008 Olympic Games Bird's Nest Stadium when passing by.

Day 4: Beijing - Xian

Meals: Breakfast and Lunch

Accommodation: Sheraton Hotel

This will be an exciting morning as you visit the scenic Summer Palace and go to a pearl store. Based on Longevity Hill and Kunming Lake, its design embodies the solemnity and grace of a royal garden that incorporates the joy of nature, which is also a monument to classical Chinese architecture. Later, you will have an a la carte lunch (valued at CNY150.00 per person and included in our price).

Day 5: Xian

Meals: Breakfast and Lunch and Dinner

The morning escorted tour is scheduled with a visit to the well-known Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum and a pottery-making factory. It might be difficult for you to imagine the surprising moment when you see the great army of strong life-sized terracotta warriors assembled in their thousands to protect the tomb of the first Emperor Qin. Then we will transfer you back to the city and have an a la carte lunch (valued at CNY120.00 per person and included in our price) cooked by the host at a local family's home.

The afternoon will be spent visiting the Small Wild Goose Pagoda & Xian Museum. A splendid evening is in store when you are entertained by the Tang Dynasty Music and Dance Show while enjoying a famous Chinese dumpling dinner.

After lunch, a visit to the old Hutongs follows. Then you are off to the next destination - Xian. Our local guide will greet you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel for a three-night stay.

Day 6: Xian

Meals: Breakfast and Lunch

Morning visit to the well-preserved ancient City Wall and the Provincial History Museum are arranged today. You may wish to take an optional cycle ride on the wall (bike rental fee is your responsibility).

After an a la carte lunch (valued at CNY120.00 per person and included in our price), a visit to the Great Mosque will be your adventure for the afternoon. It is noted for its unique architecture that perfectly combines traditional Chinese and Islamic styles. Around the mosque is the largest Moslem community, where you will see Islamic customs, intertwining alleyways, and countless Moslem snack shops. Finally we transfer you back to the hotel.

Day 7: Xian - Guilin

Meals: Breakfast

Accommodation: Sheraton Hotel

Today, you will board a flight to Guilin. Upon your arrival, our local guide will pick you up at the airport and transfer you to the hotel for a two-night stay. Then you will visit the Reed Flute Cave.

Day 8: Guilin - Yangshuo - Guilin

Meals: Breakfast and Lunch

Today will be a memorable experience as you cruise down the beautiful Li River from Guilin to Yangshuo. The river, with its calm sparkling water, is the essence of the city's landscape and reputed as the "Hundred Mile Gallery". After docking at Yangshuo, you will enjoy the amazing rural scenery as we drive along the surrounding country roads. En route, you will be invited to visit a villager's home. After that, we will transfer you back to Guilin and visit Elephant Trunk Hill.

Tips: As the cruise company offers lunch box on the ship. It may fail to meet with your approval. TravelChinaGuide is aware of the shortcomings and suggests you prepare for the cruise with a generous breakfast at the hotel.

Day 9: Guilin - Chongqing

Meals: Breakfast

Take a morning flight to Chongqing. Upon your arrival, our local guide will meet you at the airport and take you to visit the Liberation Monuments, the Panda House in Chongqing Zoo, and Ciqikou Ancient Town time permitting. After that you will board the President Series cruise ship for a three-night stay. It sets sail at 22:00, when your relaxing Yangtze cruise begins. Today's lunch and dinner are not included.

Cruises: President No. 8 with balcony

Day 10: Shibaozhai

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

You will gain some knowledge of the cruise ship and its activities schedule through the river guide's morning presentation. In the early afternoon, an onshore excursion is arranged when the ship anchors at Shibaozhai. Don't be surprised when you see some new buildings standing along certain sections of the river banks. They are purpose-built dwellings for those farmers who once led a hard life in the hills before the Three Gorges Project was constructed. In the evening, you will be invited to attend the Welcome Party hosted by the Captain.

Day 11: Badong - Xiling Gorge - Sandouping

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Today the ship will sail through the most splendid part of the Three Gorges. The first is the Qutang Gorge, which is only eight kilometers long but encompasses the most dangerous part. Then the ship will sail into a deep and attractive part, Wu Gorge. An excursion between three and four hours long along the Shennong Stream by sampan is arranged for you today. Afterwards, the ship will continue to sail into heavily-shoaled Xiling Gorge. This evening, the ship will travel through the Five Level Ship Lock, a magnificent building project of the Three Gorges.

Day 12: Yichang – Shanghai

Meals: Breakfast and Lunch

Accommodation: Hotel Equatorial Shanghai

This morning, the onshore excursion will take you to visit the stunning Three Gorges Dam site, which plays an important flood control role. Then take your time to check out. Our local guide will meet you on board and take you to have lunch. Then board the flight to Shanghai, where the guide in Shanghai will greet you and transfer you to the hotel.

Day 13: Shanghai

Meals: Breakfast and Lunch

Today we will show you the most important commercial and financial hub in China. The first destination is Shanghai Museum. There are all kinds of collections, and some rarities even command world-wide attention. Next let's turn to the Yuyuan Garden and a silk shop. The farewell a la carte lunch (valued at CNY120.00 per person and included in our price) will be served at a well-reputed restaurant featuring Shanghai dishes.

Then continue your visit to the Bund and have a cruise tour on Huangpu River. You will also have some free time on the Bund.  After that, our guide and driver will transfer you back to the hotel and bid farewell in the lobby.

Day 14: Departure from Shanghai

Meals: Breakfast

Your 2 weeks guided tours of China draws to a close today. You need to head to the airport for your homebound flight by yourself as your trip doest not include this transfer service.

In 2014 we traveled to China using this company. We were so happy with our choice that this year we went on another tour, this time a semiprivate guided tour to Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. Booking trips through the internet always feels a bit risky but I fully recommend anyone to use Travel China Guide. We would not have been able to see half of what we did without a guided tour. The guides were professionals, the hotels were mostly 4 stars, only one was 5 star and good quality. All my correspondence with Abbey from Xian was quick, precise and friendly. We actually met her too when the group visited Xian.

I used Travel Guide China tours for a walking tour on the Great Wall, the service was fantastic, emails were replied to promptly, everything they said they would do was done, and the walk itself was fantastic. The guide was so informative and answered every single question with great information, really made the trip enjoyable and very much worthwhile. Cannot fault them and I would use them again for sure next time I visit China.

This is the second time that we used Travel China Guide to visit China, and we could not be more pleased! This agency has been very easy to work with; their agents have always been prompt and responsive to any of our questions regarding our arrangements and itineraries. We were provided with a guide who was friendly, knowledgeable, understanding of our needs, and pleasantly flexible when we made some very last minute changes to our itinerary. We were provided with contact information for twenty four hour support, which, thanks to Travel China Guide’s careful planning and attention to detail, we never had to use. I would highly recommend this agency for your travel plans to China!

We booked three different train tickets through them and everything went flawless - it was worth every penny we spent. We couldn't be more satisfied with Travel China Guide Tours. The high quality of their service is difficult to find even here in Germany (where we come from). We also booked two tickets for the Forbidden City and it also went flawless.

I would use their services again and would definitely recommend them for anyone traveling to China.

We undertook a 3 day Private Tour with Chinatravelguide.
The tour was excellent. Our driver Mr John and the guide Matthew where wonderful and ensured we arrived safely everywhere went, whilst providing in depth information about the places we visited.

This was the first time we have used this type of service and it enabled us to see so much more in the timeframe we had available. I have already and will continue to recommend travelchinaguide to my friends and family. Our favourite part of the tour was the visit to the Great Wall due to how spectacular it is and the toboggan ride down the hill.

Nothing was to difficult for our guide or driver and this ensured we were about to see alot more than we expected in the short time we had in Beijing. The booking process and correspondence with our consultant (Emily) was excellent.
