Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival in Shanghai

Meals: No meals and advice freely available

Welcome to Shanghai! Our guide will be waiting to greet you at the exit of the Arrival Hall. Then you will be escorted to our well-chosen hotel. For the rest of the day, you may have a good rest to get over the travel fatigue or venture out to the surrounding area a bit on your own.

Day 2 Shanghai

Meals: Western buffet breakfast and A la carte lunch

Today we highlight our tour with one of China's four best museums, Shanghai Museum, whose main exhibitions are precious ancient bronzes, porcelain and ceramic wares, calligraphy and Chinese paintings. Then we proceed to Yu Garden. The fine design and complicated layout of the pavilions, halls, rockeries, ponds and cloisters in this classic garden are all worth visiting.

After having an a la carte welcome lunch (CNY150.00 per person and included in our price) at a fine local restaurant, we will take a cruise on the Huangpu River, the main river of Shanghai. On the river banks, there are a number of old and new buildings, by which you can chart the city's rapid development. We finish the day's program by exploring the Bund area and an old cultural street - Tianzifang.

Day 3 Shanghai - Guilin

Meals: Western buffet breakfast

The morning is reserved for your individual activities. If you stay at our luxury series hotel, you can walk to the nearby Yuyuan market, where there are shops in photogenic old style buildings offering plentiful food selections and souvenirs. If you stay at our standard series hotel, the nearby subway gets you to more places of interests. Our guide and driver will get you to the airport for an early afternoon flight to Guilin, where another local guide will pick you up for your trip to the hotel as soon as you have collected your baggage.

Day 4 Guilin

Meals: Western buffet breakfast

We'll start the day with touring the Reed Flute Cave, where you see many stunning stalactites, stone pillars and rock formations. We then proceed to the  Seven Star Park, where elegant hills, clear water, fantastic caves, grotesque rocks and ingenious architectures are well integrated. You can consult your guide on where to get a good lunch. Next we visit the unique Elephant Trunk Hill - a popular sightseeing spot more than 1000 years. Our last stop is Fubo Hill, where in addition to charming scenery we see numerous historical items and stone carvings.

Day 5 Guilin - Yangshuo

Meals: Western buffet breakfast, Lunch

This morning we board a cruise along the scenic Li River for Yangshuo. Upon arrival, we take a drive to take in the farmland, clear water and elegant mountains around Yangshuo. We stop by a villager's home for a glimpse of farmers' life style. And back at the hotel in Yangshuo you may take your time strolling in this famous town.

Tips: Unfortunately the lunch served on the cruise is simple Chinese box lunch, which is not up to the standard that TravelChinaGuide would like. So we recommend you take a hearty breakfast at the hotel in the morning.

Day 6 Yangshuo - Guilin - Chengdu

Meals: Western buffet breakfast

An arranged transport will take you from Yangshuo to Guilin Airport for your flight to Chengdu, the breeding grounds of the adorable giant pandas. Our local guide will greet you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to have a rest at the hotel or look around the city on your own.

Day 7 Chengdu

Meals: Western buffet breakfast

The morning excursion focuses on Chengdu Panda Breeding and Research Center, which features verdant bamboos, bright flowers, fresh air, a natural hill and beautiful view to create the best possible environment for the pandas' rearing and breeding. Here you could find many pandas playing, feeding on bamboos, or climbing trees. Lunch is not included today, but our guide is ready to help you find somewhere better to have it if you need. In the early afternoon, we proceed to Jinsha Site Museum, which exhibits many precious and mysterious artefacts probably as much as 3000 years old. Finishing with the museum, we then go for a stroll in the Broad and Narrow Alleys. Traditional buildings, various shops, tea houses, eateries and street performers enhance it as a tourist area.

Day 8 Chengdu - Xi'an

Meals: Western buffet breakfast

A morning high-speed train will take you to Xi'an, a cradle of Chinese civilization. The train journey takes around 4 hours. On your arriving, our local guide will meet you at the North Railway station and settle you at your hotel. After the formalities, we will visit Shaanxi Provincial History Museum, where we could see thousands of rare historic treasures covering the spectrum of Chinese history. Then we move on to visit the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, a brick Tang Dynasty structure, circa 7th century AD, to house the Buddhist scriptures and statues from India.

Day 9 Xian

Meals: Western buffet breakfast and Home-cooked a la carte lunch

The whole morning will be spent on the world's eighth wonder, featured in Terracotta Army. As the annex of Emperor Qin Shihuang's Mausoleum, the lifelike warriors and horses are believed to be the sentinels of Qin Shihuang. The Bronze Chariots and Horses excavated here are considered the most exquisite bronze ware in the world. Around noon, we will dine a home-cooked a la carte (valued at CNY120.00 per person and included in our price) at a local family home. After lunch, we head to the Xi'an City Wall, which still stands around the old city. Our last stop today is the tranquil Great Mosque, which is among the oldest and largest. It still is the focal point of religious activities.

Day 10 Xi'an - Beijing

Meals: Western buffet breakfast

This morning you will travel by a high-speed train to Beijing, the last destination of yoru 13 days China itinerary. The train journey takes around 4.5 hours. The local guide expects you at the station and takes you to the hotel. Our afternoon visit covers the Temple of Heaven - the imperial temple for the emperors to worship the Gods of the Heaven during the Ming and Qing dynasties. And the roofs here are all covered with blue glazed tiles, reflecting great solemnity and serenity.

Day 11 Beijing

Meals: Western buffet breakfast and A la carte lunch

The first stop of your private Beijing tour is Tiananmen Square, the world's largest. Built 600 years ago, the T-shaped Tiananmen Square is an important venue for ceremonies of national prominence. Across the square, we will reach the Forbidden City, the royal palace from 14th to 20th century. The major colour themes of the palace are yellow and vermilion representing imperial power. We will serve you an a la carte lunch (valued at CNY150.00 per person and included in our price) at a superb restaurant. Then our royal tour leads to the Summer Palace, the most significant royal park, displaying the outstanding gardening landscape.

Day 12 Beijing

Meals: Western buffet breakfast

This morning we will visit Mutianyu Great Wall by taking the round-trip cable car. Initially set up as a fortification, it is a historic landmark in testimony of people's never ending struggles. Lunch today is not included. Our guide is happy to recommend you a good restaurant. On the way back to downtown, we will drive by and make a stop at the Bird's Nest (Olympic National Stadium), so that you can have photo opportunities. We then continue to visit the Old Hutong Alleys on rickshaws to experience a throwback to the old centuries.

Day 13 Departure from Beijing

Meals: Western buffet breakfast

Your 13 days private China tour package is coming to an end. Our guide will collect you in the hotel lobby at the appointed time and transfer you to the airport for your onward flight. We wish you a pleasant journey home!

In 2014 we traveled to China using this company. We were so happy with our choice that this year we went on another tour, this time a semiprivate guided tour to Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. Booking trips through the internet always feels a bit risky but I fully recommend anyone to use Travel China Guide. We would not have been able to see half of what we did without a guided tour. The guides were professionals, the hotels were mostly 4 stars, only one was 5 star and good quality. All my correspondence with Abbey from Xian was quick, precise and friendly. We actually met her too when the group visited Xian.

I used Travel Guide China tours for a walking tour on the Great Wall, the service was fantastic, emails were replied to promptly, everything they said they would do was done, and the walk itself was fantastic. The guide was so informative and answered every single question with great information, really made the trip enjoyable and very much worthwhile. Cannot fault them and I would use them again for sure next time I visit China.

This is the second time that we used Travel China Guide to visit China, and we could not be more pleased! This agency has been very easy to work with; their agents have always been prompt and responsive to any of our questions regarding our arrangements and itineraries. We were provided with a guide who was friendly, knowledgeable, understanding of our needs, and pleasantly flexible when we made some very last minute changes to our itinerary. We were provided with contact information for twenty four hour support, which, thanks to Travel China Guide’s careful planning and attention to detail, we never had to use. I would highly recommend this agency for your travel plans to China!

We booked three different train tickets through them and everything went flawless - it was worth every penny we spent. We couldn't be more satisfied with Travel China Guide Tours. The high quality of their service is difficult to find even here in Germany (where we come from). We also booked two tickets for the Forbidden City and it also went flawless.

I would use their services again and would definitely recommend them for anyone traveling to China.

We undertook a 3 day Private Tour with Chinatravelguide.
The tour was excellent. Our driver Mr John and the guide Matthew where wonderful and ensured we arrived safely everywhere went, whilst providing in depth information about the places we visited.

This was the first time we have used this type of service and it enabled us to see so much more in the timeframe we had available. I have already and will continue to recommend travelchinaguide to my friends and family. Our favourite part of the tour was the visit to the Great Wall due to how spectacular it is and the toboggan ride down the hill.

Nothing was to difficult for our guide or driver and this ensured we were about to see alot more than we expected in the short time we had in Beijing. The booking process and correspondence with our consultant (Emily) was excellent.
