Itinerary

Day 1 to 1 Arrive Marrakech

Marrakech, one of Morocco's favourite cities, is known as the country's ‘pearl of the south' and is surrounded by the spectacular peaks of the Atlas Mountains. Take a step back in time and lose yourself in the maze of souks and spice markets in the ancient medina. Wander the labyrinthine of stalls with colourful skeins of wool drying above your head against bright blue skies. Pick your way through alleys lined with elaborately decorated brass lamps while dodging donkeys as well as locals on scooters as you go. Watch artisans making their wares right where they sell them. Enjoy some banter and barter with a friendly seller, then indulge in a traditional mint tea or thick Moroccan coffee to recover.

There is non-stop action at the Djemaa el-Fna, the huge, open UNESCO-listed public square in the medina. See jugglers, henna tattoo-artists, potion-sellers, musicians, snake-charmers and acrobats by day and buy a freshly-squeezed orange juice from any one of a myriad of vendors. At night, witness musicians, Gnaoua musicians, storytellers, belly dancers and a massive alfresco restaurant complete with friendly maitre d’s calling for your custom in five different languages. The call to prayer from the iconic Koutoubia Minaret adds to the exotic atmosphere.

Day 2 to 2 Ouarzazate

Today we head to Ouarzazate, a resting point traditionally used by African traders. Today it has been used as the set of many great films like Alexander the Great and The Last Temptation of Christ. There is the chance to enjoy an optional tour of the film studios here or explore Ouarzazate on a quad bike.

Day 3 to 3 Sahara Desert & Camel Trek

Today we can enjoy a scenic drive heading towards the great Sahara Desert. We stop for a delicious Moroccan lunch (optional) before continuing to the desert. During the summer months we may also have time for a relaxing swim.

Once we are fully refreshed we travel to Merzouga, where we board our desert transport- camels! Ride through the sand, reaching the Berber Camp where we will stay the night.

Enjoy local food, music and an incredible night star-gazing under the desert sky.

Day 4 to 4 Todra Gorge

After a delicious breakfast in the desert, we visit an ancient irrigation well where you can learn about the ancient systems used to create this amazing network of underground canals. Dating back to the 14th century, they reach around an impressive 300km in length.

We then travel towards Todra Gorge - Morocco’s answer to the Grand Canyon. A spectacular series of limestone river canyons, the rugged landscape gives a contrasting image to the colour and lanterns that you find in the cities. With lush greenery in the surroundings, the area is tranquil and less touristy than many places in the country.

After enjoying a local lunch in our hotel, there is time to explore the gorge and even go for some optional rock climbing. We will also visit the quaint local town of Tizgui, one of the oldest villages in Todra and where we will learn how to make traditional Moroccan tea and berber rugs.

Day 5 to 5 Aït Benhaddou

After a leisurely departure we first stop off at Kasbah Amridil, one of the best examples of Kasbah in Morocco. Dating back to the 17th century, it even appears on the Morocco 50 dirham note. This now living museum displays what traditional kasbah life was like over the centuries and gives great insight into the history of Morocco.

We then continue onto the beautiful pre-Saharan habitat of Ait Benhaddou. These dusty earthen buildings are surrounded by high walls and four corner towers, making it a striking example of Southern Moroccan architecture. Once settled in we enjoy a guided tour of this UNESCO World Heritage Site with free time to further discover the charming streets.

Day 6 to 6 Marrakech

Today we depart for Marrakech. On route, we will traverse the striking High Atlas mountains where we can stop for some fantastic photo opportunities.

This afternoon you have the option to go on a guided tour of Marrakech, visiting many incredible sites such as the Bahia Palace, The Medina and a walk around the Katoubia Mosque. Or perhaps get lost in the colourful markets and try your hand at haggling, finding treasures from all over the country.

Day 7 to 7 Marrakech

Today is free to further explore this bustling city. A unique activitity and great option for today is to take a hot air balloon ride at the crack of dawn, giving you some of the most magical views from above as you witness the contract of colours between the dry, orange scenery to the vibrant clothes and markets.

Tonight enjoy a final group dinner in the famous main square - Djemaa El Fna. Complete with acrobats and snake charmers, this open air venue provides a fantastic evening experience in Marrakesh.

Day 8 to 8 Depart Marrakech

Your adventure of a lifetime comes to an end today. If you have a late flight or have lengthened your stay by adding post tour accommodation you will have more time to explore the sights.

Really We wanted to visit Russia during the FIFA World Cup 2018, does not matter our native country Chile did not qualified, then We went to visit a son living in Germany. but it was impossible to get official FIFA tickets because it were sold out and also no airplane tickets & hotel reservation were available at this time, therefore we watched the World Cup by TV. So following to our son recommendation, that it was not the right time to travel Russia, too risky, therefore just we watched the games TV. After the tournament was done, the hotel and plane tickets rates came down and our son was looking for a serious and respectable travel company like Tucan Travel. The option were multiples but we took the 6 nights/ 7 days Russian Highlights Tour that was wonderful with the amount (14) tourists adults and seniors came from different countries. The most important point was the Tour Leader Vasily Novilkow and Mrs. Hellen, both russian natives of St. Petersburg and Moscu. 100 % professionals, very nice speak english, well educated, deep knowlodge of the millenial culture & history of his Mother Russia. Hotel rooms were very clean and the breakfast include very good. During lunch and dinner we can go to differents nice russian restaurants. Besides this we travel by bus, metro, taxis, train and boat, this means that we have a real interaction with the russian people. Thanks Tucan Travel for the great vacation and now We have a different impression about Russia.

With my Best Regards, Emilio and Norma.

My husband and I booked a tailor made trip to Sth America with Tucan Travel after looking closely at the competition in terms of pricing and the type of travel and tours on offer by the companies. We eventually decided to go with Tucan as they seemed to cater more for our style of travel, not just focus on "ticking things off lists" and the pricing was competitive.

We spent some time working through by email and phone with the local Tucan representative before finalising our 75 night trip taking in 5 countries. At all times during the organisation of the trip Tucan were available and responsive to talk things through before we settled on our chosen itinerary.

Our trip to Sth America started in mid-April and finished in early July 2018 commencing in the Galapagos and working our way through mainland Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Argentina and Brazil. Tucan organised all our transfers, local guides and tours and we were extremely impressed with the professionalism and punctuality of all but a few of our pickups. For those that didn't quite work as seamlessly as we had come to expect, our Sth American Tucan representative was readily available and very quick to sort the problem out.

During our trip we were impressed with the standard of guides (both private and group tours) who were all local to the country and as well as having a good knowledge of the areas, all had a good rapport with the local operators and were able to show us more of the local culture and foods. The guides themselves were very happy to work for Tucan and more than one told us that Tucan ensured that they only used local operators and therefore better supported the local economy.

All up we had an amazing and wonderful adventure in Sth America and thanks to Tucan it was essentially worry free. We would highly recommend the company and are already beginning to think about our next adventure, which we plan to book with Tucan.

Fabulous ! I did 2 week tailored tour from RIO - LIMA the organisation was faultless, guides were all a delight and the tour company responded so promptly to all emails. The accommodation was satisfactory for the price we paid and the areas we visited and as expected some were lovely and others were a bit average however all in great locations. I will travel with this company and recommend them.
