  • Bike ride to Hoi An Beach through Paddy Fields
  • Walking tour of Hue's Citadel

Short Description

From the remarkable rice paddies spreading as far as the eye can see to the sun-kissed beaches of Nha Trang, Vietnam is a pleasure-seeker’s paradise. But Vietnam has more to offer than stunning natural beauty. Be charmed by the imperial city of Hué with its ancient tombs and temples, while Hoi An’s old town features many beautiful historic buildings. Experience the hospitality of local people then strike a bargain in Ho Chi Minh City’s bustling markets.

Small groups are usually defined as between 10 and 24 travelers, often less. If you're the kind of person who enjoys more intimate experiences and personal service this is a good choice. All else being equal you will pay a premium for this style vs a larger group tour.

Itinerary

Day 1 to 1 Arrive Ho Chi Minh City

Ho Chi Minh City was known as Saigon until the end of the Vietnam War (around 1975). Originally a small fishing village, it is now the most important economic centre in Vietnam and is the largest city in the country.

Traffic in the city is fairly hectic at the best of times but getting around is surprisingly easy by taxi or motorbike taxi, although drivers may not always speak English. Bus is the only form of public transport and motorbikes rule the road; there are around 3 million motorbikes cruising around the streets of Ho Chi Minh City.

Day 2 to 2 Nha Trang

Today we will fly to beautiful Nha Trang which is a popular beachside destination for many travellers and is brimming with restaurants, bars and excellent nightlife.

Day 3 to 3 Nha Trang

Relax along 7km of golden sandy beach, visit the famous mud baths or enjoy a boat cruise where you can swim in the surrounding crystal clear waters - try your hand at snorkelling before relaxing on deck with a refreshing drink! Tonight, hit the bars with your group!

Day 4 to 4 Overnight sleeper bus to Hoi An

After some seaside play and a late night in the bars and clubs we board the overnight sleeper bus north to our next destination.

Day 5 to 6 Hoi An

In Hoi An we have free time to explore the handicrafts, ceramics and fabrics that are sold at an abundance of markets. Hoi An is renowned for tailoring; pack your favourite item of clothing and get it copied here! We also enjoy a bike ride to Hoi an Beach passing lush paddy fields along the way. Once you're there you can marvel at coastal views with a local beer in hand

Day 7 to 7 Hue

We depart Hoi An and travel north to Hue. The drive takes us past Marble Mountain (optional VND40,000 to explore it's caves and shrines) before we climb the scenic 'Hai Van Pass' coastal road as featured on Top Gear's 'Vietnam Special.

The old capital city of Vietnam and home to the Emperors of the Nguyen Dynasty (1802-1945), Hue is situated on the banks of the Huong Giang or Perfume River. It is most famous for the Imperial Citadel, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, often likened to the Forbidden City in Beijing (and sometimes referred to as the Forbidden City as well). Hue also offers many Buddhist pagodas and some impressive Emperors tombs which are well worth a visit. Alternatively, you can relax and take a boat trip along the Perfume river and enjoy the countryside. Pham Ngu Lao Street has a backpacker vibe with many hostels, bars and cafes.

Day 8 to 8 Overnight train to Hanoi

This evening we will board an overnight sleeper train to the bustling city of Hanoi

Day 9 to 9 Depart Hanoi

Your adventure of a lifetime comes to an end today. If you have a late flight or have lengthened your stay by adding post tour accommodation you will have more time to explore the sights.

Hanoi is the capital of the Socialist Republic and is dominated by colonial buildings and tree-lined boulevards. The city boasts a convoluted yet elegant history which is characterised by its 'chameleon of names' - the city has changed names many times throughout history. In terms of recent history, the French withdrew their forces in 1954 and ever since foreign investment and property has developed substantially.

In Hanoi, exploring on your own is relatively easy on foot or by bike. Many travellers believe the true appeal and essence of Hanoi is discovered wandering the streets, tasting local market food, observing the local way of life, and taking in the architecture and surroundings.

Interested in visiting Ha Long Bay? You can arrange to visit the incredible Halong Bay, famous for its limestone islands jutting imposingly from the sea into the Vietnamese skyline and can even spend the night on a traditional junk boat. As this trip is so popular we highly recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment. Please speak to your Adventure Specialist for more details.

Please note: Your tour will come to an end the morning you arrive in Hanoi by train.

Really We wanted to visit Russia during the FIFA World Cup 2018, does not matter our native country Chile did not qualified, then We went to visit a son living in Germany. but it was impossible to get official FIFA tickets because it were sold out and also no airplane tickets & hotel reservation were available at this time, therefore we watched the World Cup by TV. So following to our son recommendation, that it was not the right time to travel Russia, too risky, therefore just we watched the games TV. After the tournament was done, the hotel and plane tickets rates came down and our son was looking for a serious and respectable travel company like Tucan Travel. The option were multiples but we took the 6 nights/ 7 days Russian Highlights Tour that was wonderful with the amount (14) tourists adults and seniors came from different countries. The most important point was the Tour Leader Vasily Novilkow and Mrs. Hellen, both russian natives of St. Petersburg and Moscu. 100 % professionals, very nice speak english, well educated, deep knowlodge of the millenial culture & history of his Mother Russia. Hotel rooms were very clean and the breakfast include very good. During lunch and dinner we can go to differents nice russian restaurants. Besides this we travel by bus, metro, taxis, train and boat, this means that we have a real interaction with the russian people. Thanks Tucan Travel for the great vacation and now We have a different impression about Russia.

With my Best Regards, Emilio and Norma.

My husband and I booked a tailor made trip to Sth America with Tucan Travel after looking closely at the competition in terms of pricing and the type of travel and tours on offer by the companies. We eventually decided to go with Tucan as they seemed to cater more for our style of travel, not just focus on "ticking things off lists" and the pricing was competitive.

We spent some time working through by email and phone with the local Tucan representative before finalising our 75 night trip taking in 5 countries. At all times during the organisation of the trip Tucan were available and responsive to talk things through before we settled on our chosen itinerary.

Our trip to Sth America started in mid-April and finished in early July 2018 commencing in the Galapagos and working our way through mainland Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Argentina and Brazil. Tucan organised all our transfers, local guides and tours and we were extremely impressed with the professionalism and punctuality of all but a few of our pickups. For those that didn't quite work as seamlessly as we had come to expect, our Sth American Tucan representative was readily available and very quick to sort the problem out.

During our trip we were impressed with the standard of guides (both private and group tours) who were all local to the country and as well as having a good knowledge of the areas, all had a good rapport with the local operators and were able to show us more of the local culture and foods. The guides themselves were very happy to work for Tucan and more than one told us that Tucan ensured that they only used local operators and therefore better supported the local economy.

All up we had an amazing and wonderful adventure in Sth America and thanks to Tucan it was essentially worry free. We would highly recommend the company and are already beginning to think about our next adventure, which we plan to book with Tucan.

Fabulous ! I did 2 week tailored tour from RIO - LIMA the organisation was faultless, guides were all a delight and the tour company responded so promptly to all emails. The accommodation was satisfactory for the price we paid and the areas we visited and as expected some were lovely and others were a bit average however all in great locations. I will travel with this company and recommend them.
