Explore food markets and the city’s famous sights. Can you piece together clues to escape BP’s newest rage: the Live Escape Game? It’s a busy, fun, adventurous weekend!

Itinerary

Day 0: Optional Arrival

Sziasztok! Opt into an early Thursday arrival- we recommend it! Those  arriving Thursday can opt in to the exciting boat party on the Danube beneath the sparkling lights of the bridges, the Parliament and Budapest's Castle District.  This boat cruise can be booked through the hostel when you arrive.

Day 1: Meet Pest

We'll meet up with WSA's local guide at 10:30 at the hostel for a quick orientation. We'll stroll down Andrássy Avenue, Budapest's main boulevard. We'll continue onto some more highlights like the Hungarian Parliament building, Heroes' Square, Liberty Square, St. Stephen's Basilica, Vajdahunyad Castle. We'll zip over to the world-famous Széchenyi Baths to soak away the rest of the afternoon.

Evening: Escape games (Budapest's most popular local activity), where groups have 60 minutes to 'escape' your way out of a locked room. As long as we get out, we'll catch up with the hostel's pub crawl through Budapest's famous ruin bars! Left in shambles after WWII, this area was reborn bursting with young, fun atmosphere that can't be missed.

Day 2: Saturday: Onto Buda

Morning: Wear comfy attire and shoes for the caving adventure later! Today we start at the Great Market--the largest and oldest indoor market in the city. Take this free time for souvineir shopping, and grab a bite at one of it's many delicious food stands and enjoy a panoramic tram ride along the Danube.

Afternoon: Now that you're well-fed, it's time to strap on jump-suits and headlamps, for caving beneath the hills of Buda! These massive underground caverns are filled with awe-inspiring stalagmite and stalactite mineral formations that draw visitors from all over the world. Those opting out of caving can take a chairlift ride to Budapest's lookout or opt into a bike cart ride on Margit Island.

Evening: We'll hit Buda's breathtaking Castle Quarter, including Matthias Church and Fisherman's Bastion. You may also opt in for the "Sparty" (Spa party) at the baths which can be booked with the hostel once you arrive.

Day 3: Sunday: Tearful Goodbyes

Today, you are free to depart for home and catch transportation arrangements at any time. Sticking around? Stops include Szimpla farmers' market, Europe's largest Synagogue, and Budapest's trendy street art.

I had one of the greatest weekends of my study abroad experience the other weekend in Budapest with WSA! It was absolutely amazing and exceeded all of my expectations 10 times over. This is one of the most jammed pack weekends WSA offers and they're not lying. The whole weekend I didn't feel like my time (or money) was being wasted. We did so much everyday from the thermal baths to caving to escape games to visiting markets to walking the entire city. I feel like I did everything I wanted to do in Budapest and things I would have never thought of, like caving. Bogi our leader was wicked cool and funny. She added a lot to this experience from her knowledge of the city, to her fun facts, and her personality. She was GREAT! I recommend this trip through WSA 1000000000000% to anyone studying abroad!

This past weekend was definitely one of the best weekends I have had during my time abroad! I went on the WSA trip to Budapest and was enchanted by the city. Bogi, our leader, made the experience ten thousand times better. She was so much fun to be around with her cool facts about the city and hilarious jokes. I don't think my time in Budapest would have been the same without Bogi being my leader. She also showed us some great places to eat and beautiful sites around the city. WSA also allowed me to experience new things. In our program, we got to go caving which I would have never done if it weren't for WSA. It was a great, one of a life time experience and I encourage anyone who goes to Budapest through WSA to do it! Another great part was the escape rooms. I cannot express how fun it was to solve clues with other people in your program. Overall WSA and Bogi made my experience in Budapest unforgettable and would definitely recommend!!

Signed up solo to go to Budapest and it was the best weekend of my semester abroad! Bogi was such an incredible guide who knew exactly where to go, whatever you wanted to see. WSA did an amazing job of keeping everything super organized. I felt like I didn't miss anything in Budapest. I wish I could do this trip a thousand times over. It's a great way to meet new people and do things you might have never done otherwise (like caving)!

I would 100% recommend this trip to my friends! Budapest was one of my favorite cities so far and I was able to have the great experience thanks to WSA! The weekend was packed full of great events; cruise down the Danube, caving, thermal baths, bar crawl... and if all those activities weren't good enough we had the BEST TOUR GUIDE EVER! Bogi was personable, knowledge, engaging and (most importantly) funny! She told us only the most interesting and fun facts while leading us to the best locations in Budapest! On top of it all I met some really great friends that weekend! I would do WSA Budapest again in a heartbeat!
