What travelers are saying

"First time we (mom and daughter) have done a tour and first time with on the go tours. What a special trip we had doing the 13 day Casablanca to Essaouira Morocco tour (26 Nov - 6 Dec 2023). We started the first 8 days doing the totally Morocco tour and the last few days at our own pace with down time in Essaouira. Jamal our guide led the tour from start to finish and took us safely on a culture filled journey. His knowledge of the country, it’s history and people was informative and inspiring. Every request was “no problem” and delivered with a smile and happy demeanour. Everything in Morrocco was “no problem” and we felt safe and looked after. We were driven in a comfortable coach with enough stops along the way to not feel long by our competent driver Suleman. The hotels, Riad and Dar were extremely comfortable with exceptional service. We would not have had the same experience travelling on our own, we felt as though we truly experienced Morocco. Everything was a highlight for us and we will definitely book another on the go tour in the future. If you wanting to see true Morocco we would strongly recommend doing this tour."

What travelers are saying

"We had an amazing trip with Africa adventure vacations. We loved the guide Ceasar and communication with Robert and Ashiraf was outstanding. The ultimate goal for this safari was chimp and gorilla tracking but also a wildlife safari in Murchison falls, queen Elizabeth and lake mburo national park was rewarding. If are to book this safari, please don't miss out the night game drives. The lodges are super nice and blend with nature. Buffalo safari lodge was outstanding, the views, food and service was unmatched. In short, we didn't regret booking with AAV"

What travelers are saying

"We spent a half of day at Ngamba Island (Victoria Lake) in order to to get to know more about the chimpanzees sanctuary. And not only that, we had an opportunities to see monitor lizards and hundreds of birds. An experiance to be involved in chimpanzees feeding and talking to biologists were unique. Another sparkling moment was to have the rides on speed boat to reach the island in 45 minutes only. Thanking to Ganyana Safaris for well organised trip, this will stay highlighted as one of the best trips of our lives."

Uganda Tour Selection Trips

  • Be sure to book with a reliable licensed tour operator, especially if you want to see mountain gorillas. Experienced guides know where the gorillas are likely to be on any given day.
  • It can take up to six hours to find gorillas in the steep rainforest, making it a physically challenging expedition, with chimpanzees even more elusive..
  • Itineraries allowing multiple days for chances to find the gorillas and chimpanzees -- who are wild, after all -- will offer a more relaxed pace and insure you get the quality face/lens time you want with these magnificent cousins.
  • Permits to track mountain gorillas are expensive, so check to see if they’re included in the price of your safari to avoid unpleasant surprises.
  • Roads in Uganda can range from bad to worse.  Be prepared for back-twisting, neck-jarring rides -- and if you’re susceptible to motion sickness, take along some medication.
  • Accommodations can be comfortable but quite basic. A shower may mean hot water poured into a roof-top bucket which drips down upon you below.  Make sure your lodgings meet your minimum comfort level.
  • Because they operate on solar power, jungle lodges and tent camps may have limited – or no -- facilities for charging camera, computer or other types of batteries. Take along extras and keep them charged at every opportunity..
  • While Uganda’s climate is generally equatorial, it can change quickly at higher altitudes. Check the typical temperature range and rainfall where you’re going – then come prepared for unexpected changes.
  • Take along an adequate supply of prescription drugs and anything else that you will, or may, need for your health or comfort, because you may not find them in Uganda.
  • Kidepo National Park near the South Sudan border is remote enough to be one of Africa’s best kept secrets, with savannah, mountains, and lots of wildlife; not every guided trip goes there, so check your tour operator’s itinerary if it’s on your must-do list.
  • White water rafting on the White Nile can be an adrenaline blast, but it’s not offered on all itineraries; check different operators to see if their style is sedate cruising or action-oriented.

Additional details

Weather in Uganda

Situated near the equator, Uganda has warm weather all year around. With temperatures ranging from 25-29°C (77-84°F). The hottest months range from December to February, temperatures can drop to 17-18°C (63-64°F) during the evening.

Uganda can receive annual rainfall anywhere between 1,000mm and 1,500mm, heavy rain can be expected between March - May and September - November. Most wildlife watching is done during the dry season January-February and June-August.

Best Time to Visit Uganda

Since the temperatures are fairly consistent year around Uganda is a travel destination that can be visited any time of the year.

Packing List for Uganda

Uganda is situated on the equator, which means a lot of hot weather and rain, sometimes both at the same time. Pack light clothes, like cotton shirts, tees and a khakis. A sweater for the chilly nights.

A backpack for your daily adventures. A pair of good shoes that you can hike with, a bathing suit, a pair of sunglasses, and of course a camera to capture the amazing wildlife.
