Langtang valley trekking is also called the valley of glaciers trek. Langtang is the closest place where you could get the massive snow capped mountains and beautiful glaciers. This valley is located only 19 miles north of Kathmandu. The whole valley is dominated by Mount Langtang Lirung (7246m)and offers pine forest, swift mountain streams, rugged rock and snow-capped peaks, grassy down and meadows. The Langtang National park which is established in 1976 and it is first Himalayan National Park. The forests in the region have pine and sub-alpine trees with wildlife like various kind of birds, monkey , pika Tahr, Ghoral, serow, snow leopard among others. The Langtang Himalaya Trail passes over the 5308m Tilman pass from where you can see panoramic view of Tibet. |
Day 1: Explore Kathmandu
Welcome to Kathmandu, Nepal’s largest and capital city. Get a brief information about Kathmandu with our guide. Overnight in Kathmandu
Day 2: Kathmandu Sights
Enjoy a guided tour of Kathmandu including UNESCO heritage sites-Durbar Squares, temple of living Goddess, and Swayambunath. Afternoon visit Boudhanath and Pashupatinath Hindu temple. Overnight in Kathmandu
Day 3 Kathmandu-Lhasa
Enjoy scenic flight over the Himalayas to Lhasa. You will be able to see Mt Everest and other Great Himalayas in clear weather. On arrival in Lhasa airport you will meet with our Tibetan Tour escort and transfer to Lhasa. You will have glimpses of Lhasa en-route to Lhasa. Overnight in Lhasa.
Day 4: Explore Lhasa
Explore day in Lhasa. Visit Potala palace built in 7th century by Tibetan king Songtsen Gampo. Afternoon visit Sera monastery built in 1419 by Jamchen Choeji, a disciple of Tsongkhapa, the founder of the Gelugpa sect. Sera are one of the three major monasteries of yellow sect in Tibet. Overnight in Lhasa.
Day 5: Explore more in Lhasa
Visit Drepung monastery-the largest Monastery of the Gelugpa sect in Lhasa, built in 1416 by Jamyang chojie. Afternoon visit Jokhang, holiest shrine and houses of golden statue of the Shakyamuni Buddha. Enjoy the walking tour of Barkhor market in the evening. Overnight in Lhasa.
Day 6: Lhasa-Kathmandu
After breakfast transfer to the airport to board your flight to Kathmandu, Bid good-bye to Lhasa. You will met with representative of EVERGREEN TOURS in Kathmandu and transfer to Hotel. Afternoon at leisure. Overnight in Kathmandu
Day 7: Search Out Your Kathmandu
Your itinerary ends in Kathmandu, where you can choose one final optional adventure, depart for your next destination beyond Himalayas. Or start your journey home with memories and stories to spare.
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu – 1,300m/4,264 ft
Upon your arrival at Kathmandu airport, you will be greeted by a representative from Epic Adventures. After completing your custom formalities (Visa, etc) pick up your luggage and look for our representative with a Epic Adventures display board at the arrival gate. You will be then transferred to your hotel.
Day 2: Kathmandu Sightseeing & Preparation for the Trek

Today after breakfast we start a guided tour to several of the most historical and spiritual attractions in Kathmandu. The day will also be for finalizing official procedure and other necessary arrangements. You will be also briefed on the nature of the trek, equipments and team composition. Some of landmarks we visit include the World Heritage Sites of Kathmandu Durbar Square, the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupatinath, the famous ‘Monkey Temple’ (Swayambhunath) and Buddhists shrine (Boudhanath). In the afternoon, there will be a pre-trip discussion where we can meet our trek leader and other team members. You can also make your last minute buying of personal items.
Day 3: Drive to Syabrubesi (1,550m/5,100ft): 145 km/ 7 hrs

After morning breakfast we drive out along the north-western hills of Kathmandu. Enjoy the Himlayan views and mountainous lifestyle through the terraced fields and rustic villages. In Trishuli Bazar we have lunch before continuing further to Dhunche. From Dhunche, we descent down to Syabrubesi.
Day 4: Trek to Lama Hotel (2,380m/7,830ft): 6 hrs

Today is our first day of trekking. We follow the Langtang Khola River and pass through the dense forests. We cross several suspension bridges and also pass by a tea house. The trail goes up and down but it’s not that challenging.
Day 5: Trek to Langtang village (3,430m/11,253ft): 6/7 hr
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
After our morning tea we embark on our second day of the journey. Our trail continues along dense forests. After a steady climb up through the valley we leave the tree line behind us. Enjoy the marvelous views of Langtang Lirung. We are passing by water mills, prayer wheels, chortens, with sacred mounds of rocks with inscriptions carved on them.
Day 6: Trek to Kyanjin Gompa (3,870m/12,697ft): 3-1/2 hr

After morning tea and breakfast we trek out of the village and pass through yak pastures. We also pass the largest mani wall in Nepal, made from stone with prayers written on them. Since we are getting into the high altitudes you might start feeling the thin air. We reach Kanjin Gompa which is surrounded by the Himalayas. You can walk around Kanjin Gompa to take in the views, glaciers, icefalls, birds and yaks.
Day 7: Visit to Tserko Ri and trek back to Lama Hotel: 5/6 hrs

In the early morning we visit Tserko Ri (5000m/16,404ft) for mountain sunrise views. After breakfast we proceed to Lama Hotel. It’s a 4/ 5 hour walk from Kanjin Gompa to Lama Hotel. The trail goes all the way down hill through forests following the river. We pass through the ethnic Tamang settlements who follow religious and cultural practices similar to the Tibetans.
Day 8: Trek back to Syabrubesi: 5 hrs

After breakfast we trek for about 5 hours down to Syabrubensi. Enjoy the easy trail mostly downhill through lush green vegetation. After arriving in Syabrubesi we’ll have lunch.
Day 09: Transfer to Kathmandu
Meals: Breakfast and Dinner
After breakfast we drive back to Kathmandu. After arriving in Kathmandu you’ll be transferred to your hotel. Spend the day leisurely or catch up on some last minute shopping or explore any sights you missed during your first day in Kathmandu. To celebrate the successful completion of our journey, in the evening, there will be dinner and Cultural show hosted by Epic Adventures.
Day 10: Farewell Friend

We are saying good bye to the mountains as journey in Nepal comes to an end today! There is nothing to do but trade emails with travel companions and organise the photos. If you have more time you can do some shopping or sightseeing. Approximately 3 hours before the scheduled flight a representative from Epic Adventures will take you to the airport. On your way home you’ll have plenty of time to plan your next adventure in the wonderful country of Nepal.
