Arriving into London, Britain puts its best foot forward with the internationally renowned Chelsea Flower Show. Be on the lookout for the royal, the rich and the famous at the world’s premier garden show before embarking on an exclusive Thames River Dinner Cruise. Hop the English Channel to France and live it up at the Loire Valley Chateaux—where the riverside castles at Chenonceau and Chambord flash back to the heyday of the French royal family. The regality continues with a tour of King Louis XIV’s palace of Versailles before the vacation draws to a close at Monet's Garden and water-lily pond.

Itinerary: European Affair & The Chelsea Flower Show - 2022

Day 1: Welcome to London

On arrival, you are transferred to your hotel where the rest of the day is at leisure to relax or explore London. This evening join your Travel Director for a Welcome Drink and trip briefing at the hotel.

Day 2: Chelsea Flower Show

Today is dedicated to the famous Chelsea Flower Show, run by the Royal Horticultural Society, this is the ‘mecca’ of all garden shows. Bringing together the very best show gardens, flowers, and gardening from around the world, lose yourself amongst the magnificent floral displays and show gardens. Enjoy elaborate displays featuring courtyard, city and roof gardens, and hear from the experts. This evening dine on a spectacular Thames River Dinner Cruise.

Day 3: London to Amsterdam

Travel to Dover for the channel crossing to Calais, and transfer to Amsterdam. Later we board our canal boat and dine as we gently glide along the canals, past traditional Dutch-gabled houses built right on the water’s edge, and under picturesque bridges.

Day 4: Floriade

Start your day at the famous Aalsmeer Flower Auction, the largest of its kind in the world. Experience the intoxicating bustle of the auction floor and witness the incredible number of blooms sold every day. Later visit the Floriade Expo 2022, a once-in-a-decade horticultural and international garden exposition. The theme is “Growing Green Cities”, you will have time to visit the Green Island and other districts focusing on food, energy and health.

Day 5: Amsterdam to Bruges

Continue to medieval Bruges in Belgium. Stroll along the cobbled streets lined with high, gabled houses from the Golden Age of the 16th century. Visit the market square dominated by the 272ft Belfry of the Market Hall. Then explore Burg Square with its ornate Gothic town hall and glorious frescoes on the walls of the Holy Blood Chapel. Afterwards, enjoy a relaxing canal cruise, followed by a delicious dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 6: Bruges at Leisure

A free day to explore medieval Bruges at your own pace. Don’t forget to try some of the tempting chocolates or beers for which Belgium is renowned for.

Day 7: Bruges to Paris

Depart Bruges for glittering Paris. Enjoy sightseeing with a Local Expert, taking in the imposing facades of the Louvre and Garnier Opera House. See the obelisk in the Place de la Concorde and drive along the Champs Élysées to the Arc de Triomphe and see the Eiffel Tower, completed for the World Exhibition in 1899.

Day 8: Loire Valley Excursion

Today take a day trip from Paris to visit two of the most famous Chateaux of the Loire Valley: the picturesque Château de Chenonceau, and perhaps most magnificent of them all, the Château de Chambord. You’ll witness the glamour and grandeur of French royalty and aristocracy, and gain insights into ‘castle life’ in these iconic Renaissance riverside estates.

Day 9: Versailles and Giverny

Spend the day admiring two of Europe’s most celebrated gardens, Versailles and Giverny. France’s royal history is revealed at King Louis XIV’s majestic palace of Versailles which, along with its magnificent garden, became the quintessential model for palaces in Europe. Visit the luxurious Grand Apartments, the chandelier-lit Hall of Mirrors and the Chapel of Versailles. Then we head to Giverny to view the gardens that inspired many of Impressionist Claude Monet’s paintings.

Day 10: Farewell Paris

Your memorable journey comes to an end as you bid your Travel Director farewell. Transfers arrive at Charles de Gaulle Airport at 08.30 and 11.00.

DAY 1, Monday - Depart for the Netherlands

DAY 2, Tuesday - Arrive in Amsterdam
Arrive in Amsterdam and transfer to your hotel. Most flights arrive in the early morning and your room may not be ready for you. In this case, leave your luggage with the concierge and your Tour Manager will provide suggestions for you to begin to explore the city on your own. Tonight, your tour begins at 6 PM when you join your Tour Manager for a Welcome Drink and orientation meeting that outlines the delightful tour that awaits you. We recommend that you select flights which arrive in Amsterdam no later than 4 PM on Day 2 of the itinerary, or earlier if possible. Afterwards, savor a Welcome Dinner together

DAY 3, Wednesday - Amsterdam Canal Tour
This morning, board a glass-top boat for a delightful cruise of the winding canals of historic Amsterdam for an up-close view of stately historic mansions, 16th-century gabled merchant houses, and charming churches with bell towers. This afternoon you'll have an opportunity to explore this dynamic city on your own, or perhaps join the optional tour of traditional Holland that includes a visit to Volendam, a charming fishing village on the old Zuiderzee. Then visit a cheese farm, clog maker, and see a historic windmill. Finally, enjoy dinner in a charming Dutch restaurant

DAY 4, Thursday - Brussels City Tour
This morning, travel through Holland's open fields, crisscrossed with canals and windmills to reach Belgium. Arriving to the capital city of Brussels, take an orientation tour with views of the Atomium, the Royal Palace, the historical district, and the Palace of Justice. Stroll the city center to view the famous Manneken Pis fountain, and 17th-century Grand Place with its decorated guild houses. Afterward, continue to the city of Bruges, also known as the "Venice of the North", and home to some of Europe's best preserved medieval buildings. Tonight, dinner is in a local restaurant

DAY 5, Friday - Bruges City Tour
This morning, enjoy a delightful orientation in Bruges' medieval district with its charming squares and historic buildings. Your Your walking tour includes the Lake of Love (Minnewater), the Beguinage convent, the Market Square and Belfry, and the Town Hall Square with its Chapel of the Holy Blood. View Our Lady's Church, which houses the famous Madonna statue by Michelangelo. Later, depart Bruges for Paris where you will have the evening at leisure, or you can join the optional tour for a delightful evening that includes a delectable dinner in a French restaurant, followed by a sightseeing drive of Illuminated Paris "City of Lights"

DAY 6, Saturday - Paris City Tour
This morning, embark on a guided city tour of Paris including a drive along the Champs Elysées to the Arc de Triomphe. View the Eiffel Tower, Invalides, and the lively Latin Quarter. Spend the afternoon exploring Paris on your own, or join the optional tour of the Palace of Versailles and Gardens* where you will see classical French architecture at its most decadent

DAY 7, Sunday - Full Day in Paris

DAY 8, Monday - Travel to London via the Chunnel
Today, transfer to the train station for your trip from Paris to London via the Chunnel, the 31-mile-long underwater tunnel that is considered one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World. On arrival in London, meet your coach and guide and start your panoramic tour of the city. Begin with a drive through fashionable Kensington with its elegant squares and parks. Pass Harrods store and proceed to view Piccadilly and Trafalgar Square, Westminster Abbey, Houses of Parliament and the famous Big Ben. Continue to view Buckingham Palace, the London residence of Her Majesty the Queen. The tour ends this afternoon at your hotel

DAY 9, Tuesday - Full Day in London
Enjoy the day at leisure to explore London. With countless sightseeing opportunities, cosmopolitan London offers more in one place than almost any other city on Earth. You may return to Buckingham Palace to see the Changing of the Guard, visit the British Museum, take a ride on the London Eye, visit Madame Tussauds, the National Gallery, or take in a West End show. Perhaps join the in-depth optional tour of the Tower of London and St. Paul's Cathedral. Tonight, join your Tour Manager and fellow travelers for a Farewell Dinner
