          About Pachamama Journeys

Born in 1996 out of a partnership between the indigenous Achuar people of the Ecuadorian rainforest and an American couple – Bill and Lynne Twist – Pachamama Journeys takes travelers into the rainforest to meet and engage with the Achuar and learn and spread the word about their struggle for survival.

          What Makes Them Stand Out?

This is the real deal – if you’re looking for an adventurous, eco-sensitive trip that goes beyond the norm, Pachamama Journeys fills the bill.

          Who Travels With Them?

Travelers looking for a truly transformative, culturally enlightening personal experience.

          Where Do They Operate?

The Ecuadorian Amazon rainforest, which is at the locus of the tensions between indigenous peoples and industrial development.

          How Does It Work?

The indigenous Achuar tribe, threatened by oil development in the Ecuadorian Amazon, has invited Pachamama Journeys travelers to visit and spend time in their villages to gain a better understanding of their way of life and, they hope, boost their hopes of survival.

          Why Travel With Them?

If you want to immerse yourself in the culture of the rainforest and perhaps learn to see the world in a different light, there’s no better way to do it. The journeys also help fund ecotourism projects that help preserve indigenous communities and offer alternatives to selling off their land to oil companies.
