Editor’s Take
Most trip reviews tend to focus on some or all of these 5 key areas, not all of which may be relevant to you: the tour guide, travel company, service level, country or countries traveled in, and the trip itinerary.
Remember, just because you see a 1 star review doesn’t necessarily mean that person disliked the country.
Vietnamese people are very warm and welcoming, so you’ll be blown away by the hospitality of the locals. More often than not, tour guides will go above and beyond to ensure that your stay is comfortable.
Tour guides are also a viable bridge in communication between yourself and locals. Most Vietnamese speak a moderate amount of English in the large cities, but in the countryside, it’s more rare. Without a doubt, the guides will enrich your experience by helping you communicate when there is a language barrier.
There are several different tours available in Vietnam; it’s hard to know where to begin! Since there is so much variation, it’s important to tailor your chosen tour to your expectations. For example, if you seek adventure and thrills, you would definitely find a tour suitable for you in Vietnam. Itineraries often include trekking, kayaking, biking, and swimming. However, you will probably not encounter as much adventure as expected in a tour that isn’t focused on rigorous activities.
Some reviewers may express disappointment that their trips do not reflect the advertised itinerary. There are several factors that contribute to this problem. A major reason is that certain activities are only possible during certain times of the year. For example, monsoons and heavy rain can hinder your plans for boating, trekking, and exploring. As such, itineraries may adjust to fit the climate.
