Overview
Highlights
- The Trail is a microcosm; lush green cloud forest alive with birds, Andean peaks and steep mountain passes, a landscape dotted with centuries-old Inca ruins, accessible only to those that follow this most famous pathway.
- However, as truly beautiful as the hike may be, the real reason for its popularity lies at the very end of this four-day adventure; passing through the famous Sun Gate for that first magical sighting of Machu Picchu in the distance. Only Inca Trail hikers can access the gate early in the morning, and it is this crescendo, at one of the new seven wonders of the world which makes this hike a feature on so many ‘South America bucket lists’. The Inca Trail is the best way to arrive at one of the world’s most iconic attractions.

Tour Operator
Action Peru Treks was started in 2015 by Roxner Cardenas, who was born in a small community outside of Machu Picchu and has trekked this area all of his life.
He has guided hundreds of groups on the Inca Trail, Ancascocha, Salkantay, Lares and the Choquequirao treks, both as a porter and a tour guide. He first visited Machu Picchu when he was 12 years old and was stunned by the history and architecture and decided to study to be a guide so he could share his culture and this beautiful landscape with others.
Roxner and his team at Action Peru Treks believes “action” accomplishes a purpose. That’s why you’ll be in good hands when you take action with us. Connect with breathtaking scenery, experience the wisdom and energy of Peru’s ancient lands first hand, and get ready for the adventure of a lifetime!
Action Peru Treks provides superior quality, authentic hikes, treks, and tours along the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, Ancascocha, Salkantay, Lares, Choquequirao and more! We can even customize a tour just for you and your group! Our entire team at Action Peru Treks consists of Peruvian natives – and locals to the Cusco and Sacred Valley areas. We know the terrain, history, the hidden gems, and the people. We are proud and honored to walk in the footsteps of our ancestors, and we look forward to sharing the journey with you.
