Highlights

    • Ideal to avoid most of the other people on the classic Inca Trail. This is well after the hordes on the 4-day classic Inca Trail trek have departed very early in the morning, sometimes waiting in line for up to an hour to start the trek. Allowing them to clear out means you can hike and camp the whole trail in relative solitude away from the masses, as you’re always about half a day behind, and half a day in front of the people on the 4-day Classic Inca Trail trek.
    • This 5-day Inca Trail trek version is recommended for photographers, friends, and families with younger kids, this itinerary of the Inca Trail hike moves at a slightly slower pace. While following the same path as the classic 4-day trek, you will stop at quiet campsites to avoid crowds and have more time to enjoy the amazing ruins and scenery along the 28 miles. This 5 day Inca Trail trek also gives you a night at a nice and comfortable hotel in Aguas Calientes town so you can shower and clean up for a second visit to Machu Picchu on day 5 and have the opportunity to climb Huayna Picchu mountain after you have concluded your guided tour of the city.

What's this trip about?

The Premium Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, is the most famous hike in South America - perhaps the world. It is a must-do and one of the biggest highlights of your trip to Peru. Itinerary

Day 1: Cusco – KM 82 – Hatunchaca

Today has a relatively relaxed start for the Inca Trail and the walking is easygoing to help you settle into the trek. Beginning at Kilometer (KM) 82 (2,720 m/8,922 ft), we slowly make our way along the banks of the Urubamba River with great views of the snow-capped p...

Day 2: Hatunchaca – Llulluchapampa

Today is another relatively easy day. Most groups would be powering ahead along the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu today and would be heading over Dead Woman’s Pass, the highest point on the trek and one of the hardest and longest climbs on the Inca Trail. We’re going to...

Day 3: Llulluchapampa – Phuyupatamarca

Today is our longest day and crosses two high passes; luckily for us, we chose to camp last night at a location where we’re nearly at the first pass, Dead Woman’s pass (4,215 m/13,825 ft), the highest point of the trek. Then after we’ve gone over the second pass, Run...

Day 4: Phuyupatamarca – Wiñay Wayna – Machu Picchu

Today is all about the Incas; we visit 3 major sites (Phuyupatamarca, Intipata and Wiñay Wayna) before arriving to Machu Picchu itself late in the day. With only a short distance left to cover you’ll really have the opportunity to see these sites in detail and learn m...

Day 5: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco

You will have breakfast at your hotel before we take a very early bus (5:30 a.m.) along the winding road to Machu Picchu to see the magnificent sunrise. Once there you will be given a 2 hour walking tour of the site.

If you have elected to climb Huayna Picchu m...

Action Peru Treks was started in 2015 by Roxner Cardenas, who was born in a small community outside of Machu Picchu and has trekked this area all of his life.

He has guided hundreds of groups on the Inca Trail, Ancascocha, Salkantay, Lares and the Choquequirao treks, both as a porter and a tour guide. He first visited Machu Picchu when he was 12 years old and was stunned by the history and architecture and decided to study to be a guide so he could share his culture and this beautiful landscape with others.

Roxner and his team at Action Peru Treks believes “action” accomplishes a purpose. That’s why you’ll be in good hands when you take action with us. Connect with breathtaking scenery, experience the wisdom and energy of Peru’s ancient lands first hand, and get ready for the adventure of a lifetime!

Action Peru Treks provides superior quality, authentic hikes, treks, and tours along the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, Ancascocha, Salkantay, Lares, Choquequirao and more! We can even customize a tour just for you and your group! Our entire team at Action Peru Treks consists of Peruvian natives – and locals to the Cusco and Sacred Valley areas. We know the terrain, history, the hidden gems, and the people. We are proud and honored to walk in the footsteps of our ancestors, and we look forward to sharing the journey with you.
