After an early breakfast, you will depart Brazzaville today in private 4 x 4 vehicles along the Republic of Congo's Highway 1. Your destination tonight is the upcountry town of Oyo, where Rep. of Congo's current president was born, or Owando town, an hour’s driving di...
This morning you must get an early start in order to arrive in Ouesso by early afternoon. After the bridge across the Mambili River, Highway 1 becomes rough gravel for the last four hours of the drive. By this time there is forest on both sides of the road. Every so o...
Today you head for Mondika Camp via 4 x 4 vehicle (50 minutes) and on foot (2.5 hours). There is some flooded forest to cross at the beginning of the walk and rubber boots are required. The depth

Prior to your safari: At Extraordinary Journeys, we want the best trip for you. With our personalized service, we get to know you so we can give you the best trip, unique to you and your travel style. We will work hand-in-hand with you throughout the entire process until we come up with the perfect product. This requires a great deal of dedication; creativity to come up with the best possible combinations given availability, budget, and location; and product savvy. Through our connections on the ground, we can hold rooms, negotiate special prices, and receive upgrades. Once we have finalized your itinerary, we create your final package so that you have all of the information you will need regarding visas, vaccinations, packing lists, must-know information about the countries you’re visiting, and all other logistics. We are always available to answer any questions you might have to make sure that you are at ease and excited!
During your safari: Once you book your trip, our job isn’t over. We make sure that you are well taken care of throughout your trip. This means everything from putting you in the hands of our trusted and reliable operators on the ground and getting you the best guides, down to the smallest details, such as making sure all your dietary needs are met. Most importantly, a member of our team is available to you 24/7 should an emergency occur. You are never on your own if something happens which means you can relax and enjoy your trip.
After your safari: Throughout the entire process, we really bond with our clients. We love working with you and sharing in your safari experience. We love seeing your photos and keeping in touch! We also really value your feedback on our experience, on everything from the food, to the guides, to ways we can improve, your input is essential.
Expert Advice:
We combine decades of experience and personal connections to operators, owners, managers and non-profits with the most up-to-date information on properties, guides and management. We know our product and we apply that knowledge to your personal taste to create the perfect experience for you.
Authentic Experiences:
We want you to have a real sense of the places you visit. Instead of visiting a village that feels contrived and uncomfortable, you can visit your guide’s family or visit the village in which your property's staff members reside. Every interaction should be genuine and a learning opportunity.
Responsible Travel:
We work with small luxury properties in fabulous, remote locations that not only have great guiding and game-viewing but are eco-conscious and have close and supportive relationships with nearby communities. Our priority is to give back and be a positive presence in the communities in which we are involved.
