What's this trip about?

On this combination tour of incredible Australia and New Zealand we will experience the best these countries “down under” have to offer.   Home to some of the world’s most dramatic sights, both island nations offer an amazing variety of landscapes, historic sites and natural attractions. Where Australia is ruled by an interior desert and vast coastline, New Zealand is rich in waterfalls, towering mountain ranges, dense green jungle and geological wonders.   We first visit New Zealand, a breathtaking and diverse land of jagged mountains, rolling pastures, steep fjords and pristine lakes. We start with Auckland on the North Island (New Zealand’s biggest city), known as “The City of Sails” with more sailboats per capita than anywhere else in the world. We will marvel at the glow worms of Ruakuri Caves, enjoy a special BBQ lunch, explore the bubbling mud pools of Rotorua and learn of the Maori legends and traditions during a performance and typical “hangi” feast. No visit to New Zealand would be complete without enjoying a sheep shearing demonstration and the chance to watch the remarkable sheep dog trials, which we will see before flying to the South Island. Here we visit Queenstown, one of the most beautiful towns in New Zealand. With its waterfront promenade surrounded by mountains, it looks like an impressive picture postcard! We will take an evening cruise from this scenic spot to the elegant Walter Peak Sheep Station, join an awe-inspiring cruise in spectacular Milford Sound and visit charming Dunedin to see historic Larnach Castle.

Founded in:

Senior Discovery Tours is the company you hoped existed. We manage the details so you enjoy the destinations.

Founded in 1975, we’re Canada’s largest operator of guided tours for the mature traveller, offering more than 100 different international tours and cruises that deliver outstanding service, value and discovery.

1. Experience freedom from care

The comment we hear most from our travellers is how carefree our tours are. We manage all the details, big and small, so you can enjoy your holiday without any of the hassles normally associated with travel. Flights, hotels, meals, baggage handling at hotels, transportation and sightseeing excursions are all included. And in most Canadian cities, we’ll even pick you up and drop you off at home.

2. Tour Managers you can count on

Our travellers always rave about our Tour Managers. They attend to every detail, ensuring your trip runs smoothly. For instance, at hotels they’ll check you in and out, tip the staff on your behalf and keep track of your luggage. Their energetic approach to travel enlivens every tour, and their experience prepares them to gracefully and expertly handle unexpected situations. Our Tour Managers are also expert at creating a positive group dynamic so that everyone enjoys a great sense of camaraderie.

3. Enjoy a more leisurely trip

Most of our multi-stop tours stay in each locale for at least two days, and our “stay-put” holidays allow you to settle into one or two hotels for the entire duration of the tour. You’ll have plenty of time to explore, shop and take it all in at your own pace.

4. Put your mind at ease

On most tours, daily breakfast and dinner, and sometimes even lunch, are included in the price. Most meals are pre-arranged so you never have to worry about finding a restaurant in a strange place. As well, all of the hotels we use have been personally inspected to ensure quality and value.

5. No surprise costs

The price of every tour covers all costs, including all taxes, travel insurance, tipping, baggage handling at hotels and of course pre-arranged excursions and entertainment (which other tour companies charge extra for). The price is guaranteed in Canadian dollars and there are never any hidden surcharges.

What they’re known for
Guided tours and cruises with excellent tour managers specially designed for mature travelers.
