Day 1:

Arrive Tanzania

Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport where you will be met and taken to the lodge for dinner with the group and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Tarangire National Park

After breakfast we depart on safari to Tarangire National Park, a lesser-known but spectacular park for its scenery and wildlife. We'll  spend most of our day viewing game within the northern part of the park.

At sunset we'll arrive at our lodge located inside the park for dinner and early bedtime for a full day tomorrow.

Day 3: Tarangire National Park

We spend the entire day in Tarangire. We start early to catch the best light, and return to the lodge in the late morning. During the midday we stay at the lodge, resting, enjoying a hot lunch, and reviewing the morning's images.

Then we head out mid-afternoon ...

Day 4 and 5: Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast, we head to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area for 2 nights. Ngorongoro is one of the best locations in the world for viewing wildlife.

Our safari lodge is perched on the eastern rim of the crater (great for sunsets). We descend to the crater floo...

Day 6: Serengeti

We visit a Maasai village at Mt. Makarot. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about this amazing culture and make fascinating portraits. Then we head to the Serengeti, stopping for lunch at Oldupai Gorge and its famous paleoanthropological museum.

We ...

Day 7: Serengeti

The Moru Kopjes are picturesque; granite outcroppings, and our camp is right in the middle of them. This means more time photographing wildlife and less time driving to it. We’ll leave by dawn for best light, then return to camp mid-day while the sun is high. We head ...

Day 8 to 10: Serengeti

After breakfast, we leave our camp and photograph more wildlife along the way to our final lodge further north in the Serengeti.

We spend three nights here away from any crowds. The area we will be in is full of big cats and is a prime area for sighting the elusive leopard!

Day 11: Serengeti/Depart

In the morning, we’ll get one last chance to catch the wildlife before we head to the airstrip in time to connect with our flight to Arusha.

In Arusha, we’ll have lunch together, and head back to our lodge where a day room will be available before evening transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for our flights home

View Profile

Tusker Trail is one of the original Kilimanjaro climbing companies.  This log book used to sit in a metal box beneath the summit sign at Uhuru Peak.  You can see Eddie Frank's signature at the bottom.

Traditionally, climbers who reached the summit filled in the book.  Sadly, there has not been a logbook at the summit for decades.  Since these early climbs, Eddie has built Tusker into the most trusted name on the mountain.

Tusker Mountain Guides' diligence, leadership and continually renewed medical skills put them in a league of their own. Because of Tusker Mountain Guides' deep medical training and the confidence it brings, they own a rare leadership quality that never fails to inspire peace of mind in climbers who trek with them to the summit of Kilimanjaro.
