Geography

Bulgaria is located in Southeast Europe, in the heart of the Balkan Peninsula. The terrain is varied, containing large mountain massifs, fertile valleys, eternal meadows and a beautiful coastline along the Black Sea. Bulgaria shares a border with Turkey and Greece to the South, Macedonia and Serbia to the West, across the Danube River is Romania to the North and the Black Sea to the East.

The capital, Sofia, lies in the western region of the country. Sofia airport provides convenient connections to major destinations around the world. The airports of Varna and Burgas also accommodate international flights, although some of the flights may be available only during the busy summer season. Varna and Burgas are also the primary sea ports offering marine transport to Bulgaria.

Rail transport in Bulgaria is readily accessible and the rail network services all major cities and towns around Bulgaria. The railway lines cross all land borders of Bulgaria as well, and the famous European Orient Express crosses the country.

Bulgaria is also a transport crossroad, affording access to Western Europe, the Near East, the Middle East and the Mediterranean. A series of major European transport corridors pass through Bulgaria.

The official time in Bulgaria is Eastern European Time, which is two hours ahead of Greenwich Time.

Cancellation policy

All cancellations and refund requests for tours or vacations must be made in writing via e-mail. Deposits are refundable until 60 days prior to your scheduled departure. Please allow up to 45 days for your refund to be processed. A change of trip date or destination may be treated as a cancellation and cancellation fees may apply. Refunds of final payments will be honored as follows:

  • 90 days: Full refund
  • 60-90 days prior: 25% not refunded
  • 30-60 days prior: 75% not refunded
  • 30 days prior: no refund

Penalties and fees imposed by our travel industry suppliers may be additional and, if imposed, will be deducted from the above refunds, if any. Except for verifiable and unusual circumstances, no refunds will be made after commencement of your travel, whether for early termination, voluntary absence, or for any unused services. Please allow 8 weeks for administration of refunds. All disputes and claims regarding services shall first be resolved by way of negotiation and mutual understanding. In the event such negotiation fails, the dispute may be referred jointly to mediation or arbitration in the State of California. Disputes will be governed by California law and subject to the sole jurisdiction of courts located in the State of California.

Airport fees, where applicable, are not included and are subject to change without prior notice. All prices displayed on our website are subject to change prior to ticket issuance. Increased change in pricing quoted at time of booking to time of ticket issuance shall entitle the customer to cancel the booking and obtain a full refund on same day.
