Staterooms are comfortable, dining is excellent without exception. The tours are well planned and off-ship experiences are very well organized and of high historical importance. Best of all, these are small, intimate and friendly touring experiences.

We have cruised with American Cruise Lines 3 times now -- to Alaska, the Upper Mississippi River and the New England Islands - soon to take our fourth cruise to Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands. Each cruise has been a delightful experience; comfortable cabins and lounges, good food and good programs. All personnel have been friendly and accommodating, whatever the needs were.

We had a great time. The staff was superb, the food excellent and we really enjoyed the speakers each day. We have told numerous couples of our experience and several have either looked into or actually booked a trip. We really like the all inclusive cost as opposed to a base cost and numerous extras.

We took our first American Cruise Lines cruise and tour to New England on the inaugural voyage (American Constellation) and had a wonderful time! We’ve been in the group tour business for 26 years and sailed on more cruises than we can count. Now we are retired and took this cruise (minus the 50 people who usually travel with us!). This cruise was incredibly well organized and the staff was above and beyond well trained in hospitality and customer care. The staterooms were very comfortable with every detail well considered. Being on the inaugural trip, we were bestowed with numerous high end gifts almost daily! I Facebooked photos of our daily itinerary and friends coaxed us into taking another cruise on the Queen of the West (Snake and Columbia River) departing next week (July 2018)! I can’t say enough good things about American Cruise Lines and we are looking forward to more journeys in the future!

This was my first cruise with ACL and I enjoyed it so much I booked a second. Fewer people on board which means you get a lot of personal attention from the crew. Food was excellent. There were a variety of excursions to choose from. I would have liked to have more information about them before the cruise. Very positive experience.

For someone who is in a wheelchair, this cruise line is not accessible, even though when you book a trip with them, they tell you they are to get your money. Very dissatisfied and would never recommend this to anyone I know.

Stride Review

American Cruise Lines is a family-owned company whose fleet of six small ships cruise rivers and waterways across America. Passengers -- most of whom are affluent and age 50 and above -- can sail the Mississippi or Columbia rivers aboard vintage-style (but newly built or renovated) paddlewheelers, or take other small ships along the Intracoastal Waterway of the southeastern U.S., through Alaska’s Inside Passage, or among the islands of New England, to name a few of the three dozen itineraries.

American Cruise Lines has been undergoing a recent rapid expansion that mirrors the fast-growing craze of European river cruising. Consequently, its fleet is among the newest in the world: The line has two more ships under construction and three more will follow in the next three years. The newest ships will carry no more than 200 passengers each, and all its current ships hold from 49 to 150 passengers.

Small ships don’t mean small cabins. Most are roomy and many have good-sized balconies. There are also spacious public areas, including observation decks, lounges, and glass-enclosed dining rooms, which offer open seating at meals. The staff provides highly personalized service and passengers have responded -- about two of every five passengers is a repeat cruiser with American Cruise Lines.

Itineraries are heavily destination oriented, with port stops nearly every day. Though lengths vary from six to 14 nights, week-long voyages are the norm. Historical and cultural lectures as well as low-key entertainments are offered on each cruise. Rates are at the luxury level, but are all-inclusive (including wine, beer, and cocktails) except for shore excursions -- which are included in Alaska.

From American Cruiselines

American Cruise Lines offers personalized, small ship river cruises throughout the United States. Enjoy the intimate, comfortable, and fulfilling experience of small ship river cruising aboard the newest fleet of cruise ships in the world. American Cruise Lines brings you to the greatest destinations along the inland waterways and rivers of the East Coast, Pacific Northwest, Mississippi and Alaska. Our modern fleet of ships offer a unique, personal voyage through America's historic waterways. With no more than 150 passengers onboard, our ships provide spacious accommodations and smooth travel through the protected waterways, sheltered harbors, and magnificent rivers of the United States of America.

A refreshingly relaxing atmosphere prevails onboard our small river boats. This intimate ambience is perfect for both congenial camaraderie and quiet relaxation. Each evening before dinner, passengers are invited to mingle and share their day's adventures over complimentary cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. The atmosphere for dining is informal - seating is unassigned and dress is resort casual. After dinner, guest speakers bring local history, nature, and culture alive with their knowledge and passion for American heritage. Set your own pace on your vacation, and relish in the casual comfort and exceptional care that has become the hallmark of American Cruise Lines.

Our friendly, professional all-American crew members offer an extraordinary quality of gracious hospitality and personalized attention to discerning passengers. This outstanding level of service is always available to make your journey memorable and relaxing. Your masterfully skilled chef creates delectable feasts for each meal. Carefully selected fresh seafood, meats, and produce are often purchased in the regions we visit, allowing you to taste the delectable flavors of the local area. Meals are prepared to order and served in the glass-enclosed dining room, where every seat offers a panoramic view.

American Cruise Lines’ staterooms, most at over 220 square feet, are by far the largest in their class. Most staterooms have private balconies and feature an exquisite private bath and a large, opening picture window, allowing you spectacular views of the scenery.
