What travelers are saying

"We really loved Bordeaux and would definitely visit again! Such a beautiful city and everyone was so friendly. We did a wine tasting in 2 châteaux and got an explanation on how the wine is made. It was really interesting and so peaceful out there. The staff in both places were lovely, and our guide was super friendly and chatty! The local agency arranged it for us rapidly and were very attentive with getting back to us. Everything was handled professionally and we were very happy with what had been chosen. (Our hotel was really beautiful also.) Thanks team!"

What travelers are saying

"I had no idea what to expect, but what I experienced was way over what I could even imagine! The landscaping was eye candy for the soul no matter where you looked. It was enjoyable even when driving between sites. Hotels were well appointed, employees accommodating . . . loved the horse park accommodations!!!! Glacier climb, kayaking in glacial bay, hiking along the coast, Diamond Beach, etc. were all exciting and beyond words."

What travelers are saying

"We booked in February via TripMasters for a trip to Italy in June. Everything was confirmed in February, after our payment. However, in May, right before our trip, we were told that our hotel in Venice had become unavailable. This is from the email sent by TripMasters : "We were just informed that Sant`Antonin Hotel will not be able to honor our reservation that is why our vendor is offering the following alternative properties that is a free upgrade to 4 stars Hotel: 1st Option: Novotel Venezia Mestre Castellana - Upgrade to 4**** Via Alfredo Ceccherini 21, Mestre, VE, 30174, ITA Room type: Family Room, 1 Double Bed with Sofa bed Bedding type: 1 Double Bed and 1 Double Sofa Bed 2nd Option: Hotel Mercure Venezia Marghera - Upgrade to 4**** Via Malamocco 14, Mestre, VE, 30175, ITA Room type: Starndar, Multiple Beds 2 Twin Beds and 1 Double Sofa Bed Note that these rooms are not booked yet. We need your approval. Please let us know if you accept, or if you need further information do not hesitate to contact us." Neither hotel has the traditional style we were looking for, so we declined and scrambled to find among the much more limited inventory than when we booked our trip in February an acceptable alternative. It's only until we finished our trip and got to know the area better did we realize how far away the two alternative options TripMasters are from Venice (>1 hour each way to Venice via public transportation) and how much cheaper they are compared with our original choice (right in the center of Venice and has stellar reviews). We just felt lucky that we didn't take the bait and fell into their trap. Otherwise, our trip would have been ruined. It's quite blatant when they had the gut to mention this in their email: "a free upgrade to 4 stars Hotel" without disclosing the much different location of the two alternatives. We dislike being treated so dishonestly and will never use them again."

What travelers are saying

"I cannot say enough great things about the experience we just had in Bordeaux under the guidance and care of Gourmet-Touring! John laid out a fascinating tour, took care of every detail for us, and then programmed our GPS so we always arrived at exactly the right place. His knowledge and customer care took all the anxiety out of trying to find our way through the labyrinth of "streets" in the small towns in this area. A stand out experience was our cooking class with Chef Luc and his lovely wife, Melinda, at La Petite Source, a charming B&B. His contacts alone were more than worth the cost of doing business with this wonderful firm. If you are heading to Bordeaux, do it with Gourmet Touring!"

Culinary & Wine Tasting Tour Selection Trips

  • Due to the structured nature of tastings, private or public, it’s important to be on time. Some tours will pack a lot of scheduled stops into one day.
  • One of the best parts about guided food, wine, and brewery tours is you don’t have to worry about driving! However be aware that many wineries and breweries WILL NOT let you taste if you’re too inebriated and you may end up ruining the fun for everyone. So pace yourself!
  • Be open to trying different types of foods. That’s part of why you’re here! Encourage others on your tour to try new things and be open to discovering new tastes yourself.
  • Wineries are usually fairly chilly in temperature, so dress accordingly. Also, if you have a tour and tasting planned, you will most likely be walking on multiple surfaces including dirt and hard concrete. Ladies, might be a good idea to leave the stilettos at home!
  • Check with the tour operator if you have dietary restrictions. While most will try to accomodate, it's important to give them enought time to arrange alternate meals.
  • Cooking classes are a wonderful way to learn about local cuisine, as well as how to recreate your favorite dishes at home. Don't worry if you're not much of a chef, as many offer step-by-step guidance and help.
  • Even if you can't tell your Malbec from your Merlot, wine tastings can be a really fun group experience.
