What travelers are saying

"Overall the experience is good. Just had one hiccup at a hotel in Paris where the fire alarms went off and we had to go down in the lobby and wait for 2 hrs. Maybe there should be a provision in the itinerary that it can be changed/or adjusted if some unforseen events like this happen."

What travelers are saying

"We joined the Intrepid “Real Italy Food Tour” and enjoyed it thoroughly. Our tour guide, Micol, was very knowledgeable and provided us with lots of good information. It seems Micol knew many of the staff of the venues we visited, including the pasta making class we attended. Our group of 11 travelers was extremely compatible, which greatly added to the fun and enjoyment."

Highlights

  • San Diego: Board your coach and enjoy far-reaching ocean vistas as your journey takes you along the coast to Los Angeles.
  • Los Angeles: Explore the rich culture, history, and architecture of downtown Los Angeles from the 18th century to the present with the LA Conservancy - a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of historic landmarks. Experience a bit of nostalgia in Downtown as you ride aboard the lovingly restored Angel's Flight Railway - the shortest railway system built in the 20th century. Continue your journey through DTLA exploring iconic places like Grand Central Market, Pershing Square, the Bradbury Buidling, and the US Bank Tower.
  • Paso Robles: In the heart of the lovely Paso Robles wine country lies the beautiful Pasolivo ranch which has been producing award-winning California olive oil and welcoming visitors to their orchards and olive oil tasting room for over a decade. Be introduced to Pasolivo and its history, followed by a short walk to the olive groves. Learn about how olives are grown, milled, and pressed. Afterwards, enjoy a structured olive oil tasting including four olive oils, spices, vinegars, breads.
  • Yosemite National Park: The stunning Mariposa Grove is the largest sequoia grove in Yosemite and is home to over 500 mature giant sequoias. Many feel the 1,800 year old Grizzly Giant is worth the visit all by itself. It measures 209 feet high with a circumference of 96 feet. Includes Big Trees Loop (.3 miles), Grizzly Giant Loop (2 miles). Without shuttle access it's a 4-mile roundtrip hike to Mariposa Grove from parking area. In 1864 President Lincoln signed legislation protecting the Mariposa Grove and Yosemite Valley for ""public use, resort, and recreation."" This landmark legislation holds an important place in our country's history and was enacted at a time when the nation was embroiled in the Civil War. For the first time in our nation's history, the federal government set aside scenic natural areas to be protected for the benefit of future generations. Later added to Yosemite National Park in 1906, the Mariposa Grove is a popular destination within the park.
  • Yosemite National Park: A UNESCO World Heritage Site first protected in 1864 and a sought-after destination, Yosemite National Park is known for its waterfalls, deep valleys, granite cliffs, lakes, meadows and giant sequoias. Stretching nearly 1,200 square miles, almost 95% of the park is designated wilderness.

Highlights

  • Yellowstone National Park: The world’s first National Park, Yellowstone spans 2,219,789 acres and even has its own Grand Canyon. The park is home to half of the world’s hydrothermal features, more than 10,000, of which over 300 are geysers. Yellowstone is also a wildlife paradise. Some 1,700 species of plants and 400 species of birds, fish and mammals live in the park, including bison, wolves, bears, elk and moose.
  • Yellowstone National Park: One of the major geyser basins in Yellowstone, the Mammoth Hot Springs Area is visually unique from the other thermal features in the park. Here, hot water rises through the limestone, dissolving large quantities of rock and leaving a chalky mineral deposit in the surface. Find yourself by the bubbling waters, whose constant movement means the springs are changing all the time.
  • Yellowstone National Park: Two gentle hikes offer the chance to admire the views and meander past many of the park's beautiful and historic hot spring terraces. An abundance of wildlife inhabits the area including bears, elk, mule deer, moose, beavers and a large variety of water birds.
  • Yellowstone National Park: The many sights of this magnificent National Park include its spectacular geysers and bubbling hot springs. A heady mix of open meadows and hills, deep canyons and cascading falls awaits you along with stunning viewpoints from which to admire the park and its surrounding areas.
  • Yellowstone National Park: The Park’s Upper Geyser Basin and Midway Geyser Basin are home to some of the world's most spectacular hydrothermal features: Old Faithful Geyser, Opal Pool, Turquoise Pool, Excelsior Geyser Crater and Grand Prismatic Spring.

  • Cultural tours are all about learning and gaining a deeper understanding. Be respectful and open minded.
  • Don’t be afraid to ask questions! Your tour will only be enhanced by the more you engage with locals and your guides.
  • Figure out what type of cultural experience you’re looking for. Are you interested in visiting a small, remote village for an intense, sometimes uncomfortable look at another way of life? Or are you interested in a more relaxed cultural experience, like a food tour in Italy
