"I recommend this tour to everyone without exception. I am an experienced traveler, made sea cruises on huge liners, as well as river cruises around the world. A cruise along the Danube stands out from the crowd with the extraordinary beauty of landscapes, tranquility and grandeur. Days spent on board were filled with care and comfort. Food and service were excellent! All dietary requirements are met, lactose free food is provided upon request - very important for my family. The weak point of the cruise is the limited time in some ports - would be great to spend at least 5-6h. The ship itself is clean and comfortable, the cabin is being cleaned 2 times a day - morning and evening. What I personally liked is the possibility to join city tours as it was our first time on the Danube and we wanted to learn as much as we could. It is better to choose tours you'd like to join before the cruise - to secure a place within a group. It was a wonderful experience for my family. You are sure to enjoy this route for your vacation."

"I got to arrive just when the whole coronavirus thing exploded! I was the last foreigner this agency received as they closed borders in India!... the truth is that super well everything, helped me a lot and solved problems that were coming out during the journey like closing points of interest, museums, restaurants, Etc! "I booked with Tours by Locals on Jan. 31, 2019. We were on a cruise out of New York City. We were due to arrive back to port in the morning and booked this to fill our day before we flew out in the evening. Two days before our tour I received an email that our guide was no longer available and they would try to find another. They didn't and cancelled our tour that had been booked for almost 9 months."

  • Do your research and ask questions. Homestays can be a wonderful insight into local life, but occasionally hotels are falsely advertised as "home stays".
  • Be a courteous guest. Tidy up after yourself, and look out for house rules, such as taking your shoes off before entering. Your host should enjoy having you as much as you enjoy staying there!
  • Stretch beyond your comfort zone! You may encounter squat toilets, cold showers and strange new foods, but it's all part of the experience. And who knows, you may find you have a taste for boiled frog or fried crickets.
  • Spend time with your hosts. A homestay is more than simply renting a room - it is a chance to get involved with a family's way of life. And don't forget that the reason many people agree to host is to learn about your culture, too.
